Invoice price on a 2006 FWD SE with the convenience and safety/security package is $24,808 plus there is a $1000 customer cash rebate available from Ford Motor Company. So they're basically quoting you invoice price (the $1000 comes from Ford Motor Company, not the dealer). You should be able to get below invoice on a 2006 model they're trying to move. Hopefully, you have more Ford dealers available in your area. I would contact them and see what their best price is. I would think you could beat this price fairly easily.
Also, according to Ford's website, you can get $2006 in Ford Credit Bonus Cash if you finance through Ford Credit. I'm not sure if the 0% APR you were quoted makes you ineligible for the Bonus Cash or vice versa but you should call Ford to find out (don't ask your dealer, they may not have all the latest information).
If you are eligible for the Bonus Cash in combination with the 0%APR then the price they quoted you is really off base because you'll be getting $2006 from Ford Motor Company for financing through them. This makes the price
Even if you do get a quote around $21002 because of your eligibility for Bonus Cash then its still only a invoice price deal (from the dealer's perspective). You should be able to do better than that this late in the model year.
Again this depends on your eligibility for the Bonus Cash. If you find out from Ford that you aren't eligible then your price becomes
$24808 invoice price - 1000 rebate $23808
Again, I think you should be able to get well below invoice on a 2006 model this late in the model year.
I think I can push down to 27k + Tax, OTD. Am I asking for too low a price? I do not wish to put it off, where I may go on defensive, once the dealer rejects the offer (if too low).
Any recent buying experience about the price paid?
MSRP 33410 (less dest fee of 725) Lease selling price of 30,343 (31,343 less $1000 ford cash) 24 mo lease $412 per with $1999.75 TAS (first, tax, acq fee) 39 mo lease $381 per with 2397 TAS
The 24 mo is with .5% interest (money factor) so the residual must be total crap. 39 mo is at 2%.
Really like the vehicle but 412 is steep for a 33k car. Paying high 400 for a 42k Denali Envoy.
Is it a good deal or can I get the price down mor ebelow invoice? Is there a new engine coming later inthe year?
You should be able to get the price down below invoice. The Freestyles have not been selling well lately.
There is a new engine, new transmission, and electronic stability control will be standard with the 2008 model. If you're willing to wait, you might want to take a look at the 2008 models before you commit to the 2007.
I'm sorry, I don't know exactly when they'll be arriving in the showrooms. My best guess would be early summer 2007. I believe the 2007s were here this year by July. One more thing about the 2008s, like the later 2007s they'll have the safety package standard.
My 05 SEL AWD Freestyle stickered at 33k (all the options), but I got it for 25,200. Because of the big discount, I figured the value would be dropping significantly. Just to check it, I went by Carmax and was offered only 18,500 for it. This a brand new vehicle with only 3000 miles on it. Go figure. Who would have thunk? And of course. Ouch!!!!!!!
Gosh rick2456. I really think Carmax should have offered you the 33k sticker. You deserve to make an $8000 profit on a two year old used vehicle that you bought new. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work?
2006 SEL with leather, 50/50 3rd row split seat, front row comfort package, reverse sensing system and safety package. Paid $27,000 out the door after the $1,500 rebate I combined with 0% financing.
Edmunds says this configuration invoices at $27,078 (or $25,578 after the rebate). Arizona/Phoenix sales tax was $1,960; title and license was $468. So after subtracting that combined $2,428 from the total I paid, I figure I was about $1,000 under invoice.
(The dealer claims they were more like $1550 underwater, but they're including the combined $560 they charge for doc fee and the "vehicle interior/exterior protection system" - whatever that is.)
I think I did okay, but I might have been able to do even better if I was a better negotiator. The moral of this story: If you find a 2006 you like, feel free to find a cozy spot under the invoice. There's plenty of room down there ...
1. At this time of the year can I get an AWD Limited below invoice?
2. What am I expecting for a residual for a 2007 24mo and 36mo for a lease?
3. Are incentives better for purchasing or leasing at this time of the year?
4. 2007 AWD, Limited, DVD, Moonroof, safety canopy (std), parking sensor, and convenience group $32,400 prior to rebates (asking price). Is this a good deal?
Hi cars18. You probably can get a 2007 Ford Freestyle for slightly above dealer invoice right now and then have the available lease cash that is currently available on it in your area subtracted from that. Make sure to stop by the following discussion to see how much other community members have paid for similar vehicles lately: "Ford Freestyle: Prices Paid & Buying Experiences".
Ford's cash incentives are definitely more attractive on cash purchases of this vehicle than they are on leases of it right now. For is currently providing a $1,000 year-end bonus on this model, on top of its $1,000 customer cash ($2,000 total).
I would be happy to give you my opinion of the selling price that you were quoted for this vehicle if you provide me with its MSRP. Ford's lease program for this model varies by region, but in most areas Ford Credit;s base lease rate and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2007 Freestyle Limited AWD with 15,000 miles per year are 1.25% and 59%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are 3.0% and 50%.
Noticed one in the ads yesterday in Memphis for less than $21K. Not many options, but if you take the most basic Freestyle and go from there, you could probably see what the loss leader pricing is.
I went to a dealer near Charlotte, who is willing to deliver a 2007 Freestyle AWD Limited with Nav, Sunroof and back up, etc (all options) for $30,095. I guess this is a good deal, considering the prices which are being quoted here.
I am in Charlotte, NC and just went to dealer to check out a 2005 used Freestyle. After discussion he worked up price for a new 2007 AWD Limited with Nav, backup sensors, full tinted glass, sat radio and all options except DVD.
MSRP sticker was $36,080 minus incentives = $31,098
It seems like a good deal- any comments?
Glare discussion is interesting; Ive not experienced this in previous cars, not noticed it in test cars I drove (bright sun, noon - 3 pm).
A Boston area dealer is offering the above for $22K which is $6,600 off. Seems like a good price. Even with a few options it would be a good deal. Do you think they will go lower in a few months? Would prefer the 08 but with a big discount we could live with this.
Also offering a 24 month lease for $229 per month with zero down. 10,500 mile a year. Unfortunately we are putting 23,000 miles on our 2002 Trooper every year.
I got 8K off my 2005 which stickered at 33k. But I bought in Feb of 2006, thus more pressure to move it. I would have thought you would get a bit more off on yours as the model is being changed this year, etc.
The 2005 Limited and the 2007 limited are very different, have significantly improved the "luxury" and the list of features which go with that model. I tested each model year, and the ONLY one that caught our interest was 2007 Limited.
We did not find that glare was a problem- interior was tan and time of day was 11 am - 3pm for all road tests. Has anyone had a EXCELLENT buying experience from Ford dealers in the Charlotte area OR the Wash Metro area?
"The 2005 Limited and the 2007 limited are very different, have significantly improved the "luxury" and the list of features which go with that model. "
And how do you come to that conclusion with any rational insight.
The '07 has sat/nav center, mine doesn't and I wouldn't pay $2k+ for it anyway. I have everything you do short of the entertainment center, sat/nav and AWD. Other than that they are indeed the same with a few minor running changes. This does not amount to "significantly improved the "luxury"". They just changed the menu by which you pick/buy you options...
I bought my 05 AWD Limited from Martin Family Ford in Morganton, NC and had a a very good buying experience. Very honest, straight forward and no pressure.
Thanks for the dealer info. I was contacted by Keeter Ford in Shelby, NC and went over to test drive a Freestar SEL AWD.
We were impressed by the car and by the dealer. I could not be happier with this agency, friendly, NO pressure, and go out of their way to make this a nice buying experience. We eventually settled on the Freestyle Limited.
Also noted was the improved noise reduction from 2005 test car and this 2007. Engine and tire noise is now barely noticeable. We really liked the smooth transmission and lack of gear shifting.
The dealer located a car that matched my "list" of features, and went and took it for a test drive. Mar 26, I pick up the car. It has every option possible; except Sat radio which evidently is NOT available when the DVD syatem is ordered.
Furthermore, the dealer aggressively priced the car so I am buying it way below the MSRP. (About $5500 below sticker). Cant beat those numbers!
I DID notice the dash glare, very evident in the light colored Pebble finish and ordered a custom made dash cover which should eliminate the problem. The Limited only has 2 interior colors- Pebble or Black. The SEL has Taupe/Gray.
Thanks all who got back to me and offered advice, etc. I'll re-post once I actually take possesion of the car.
I picked up the car- what a pleasant experience in both the purchasing and the driving. Very solid feel, hardly any road noise on any type of pavement and at highway or local speeds. I love the transmission and there is more than adequate power for any situation. Engine noise is minimal.
I was pleasantly surprised by the handling and gas mileage of the car; my local mpg is 19 and highway is 24. I am looking forward to taking this on my next trip. The glare was cured by wearing polarized sunglasses!
We are looking at the Freestyle as a replacement for our current Windstar. I am currently trying to figure out if we can afford to "extend" payments for a car, or just wait a bit. We ahve always bought, but in retrospect, leasing may have been the way to go for the last couple of purchases.
Anyway, a nice Limited AWD caught my wife's eye. The dealer we went to only had 2 Freestyles in stock (an SEL and a Limited). I am eligble for the X-Plan so we are looking at around invoice pricing. What are current rates for the Limited and SEL (we will be looking at AWD versions) for both 24 and 36 mos with 15k miles per year (we've been doing around 13.5k on the Windstar)
Just bought the car new off the dealer lot. SEL with moonroof, power and convenience packages, leather, traction control, DVD player (which we didn't necessarily want but compromised), 6 passenger seating. Only missing heated seats but at $26,300 out the door was significantly better deal than other offers from various dealers.
Limited AWD, Road experiences, past 3 weeks and 2200 mile later.
I went 800 miles North to NW corner of massachusetts, 10 below zero, wind gusts 30+ mph, 10-12 inches of snow and ice. The car was awesome. Traction and stability topnotch. Trip up avg 26mpg, trip return avg 25 mpg, total 1700 miles. 80% of miles interstate, remainder 2 lane winding and steep mountain roads. Very quiet on concrete surfaces, etc.
Heated seats were welcome in the morning hours, car started perfectly, and transmission was excellent. Navigation was excellent and easy to use, audio system was also excellent. Interior fogging was minimal, split system back/front was perfect for back seat passengers. Lighting and 12 volt outlets were well placed for back seat passengers.
One special note- The fold down seats are terrific, excellent utility and design. I carry a dog crate which fits perfectly with last row -split folded down. Tons of luggage space remains. What a car!
Now back in Charlotte, avg in-town is 22.6! Amazing car and full of wonderful surprises. :shades:
Keeter Motors must be leading a charmed life if this is normal for their cars.

just curious, what was the MSRP? We are looking at the Freestyles and I am trying to get a gauge on the current discounts. I take it this price included the 2500 rebate or did you go for the financing special?
Ironically, the DVD is something my wife has on her "needs" list (3 kids 10 & under)
"Ironically, the DVD is something my wife has on her "needs" list (3 kids 10 & under) "
A DVD is on my wife's "absolutely not" list. She says that she had to endure endless vacations in the back seat without entertainment, so the kids should also endure it. I suppose she thinks it builds character. Or else she likes to hear "are we there yet?" :shades:
Seems like the $200 portable units are a better value than dropping $1k+ on the built in and add financing on top of that. I'm all for keeping the kids happy but the built in units just cost too damn much.
Yes there are quite a few varieties of portable units now and if you get the right one you can also use it elsewhere (in the house, camping etc). I have the factory unit in the FS and it is slick with the wireless headphones and also allows the adults to listen to something else. In my Volvo, we use a little portable unit on the console between the front seats (for long trips only). The kids don't care which one they watch.
If I was to do it all over again, I would likely just go with portable units mainly as it is not worth the extra $$ as you suggest.
If they were a $400-$500 option then I might be inclined as they are a huge profit center for a manufacturer. The other issue noone speaks of in the loss of the rear view mirror when the dvd is in use. That alone I would have thought states/fed regs would outlaw the ceiling mounted units as they make the rear view mirror useless and driving much more unsafe. As mentioned kids are happy with whatever but it should not be at the expense of safety and visualizing the road as completely as possible.(not that a lot of people use the rear view mirrors anyway, but that's another thread)
For sure - but not just the mirror, shoulder checks as well. Thats why my wife and I mostly ban use of the DVD in short trips around town etc. The screen being down blocks vision for lane changing and more than once when backing into parking etc I have reached around and had closed it. On longer trips, once out on the open road it is okay.
I can't see it being outlawed as long as we continue to allow cell phones, navigation units, curling your hair etc.
Didn't know my comment would spark such comments. personally, I suggested a portable unit, being a techie, one can never have too many gadgets But, she wants something out of the reach of little hands. Plus, ours only gets used on long trips, and usually, the way we pack, you can't see out the back anyway.
We currently have the built-in unit in our Windstar and it does not get in the way. I guess it is different in the Freestyle as the one I've driven in did not have one.
Shop around. I just purchased a 2007 SEL. 12,800 miles. Multi-zone climate, 6 CD, leather, auto off/on headlights, daytime running lights, split 3rd seat, 2nd row captains chairs, power driver seat, power sun roof, AND Ford certified warranty, which is now 6 years or 100,000 miles, for $19,695. My wife loves it. We shopped for new so we traded $5k for 13k in miles. Well worth it in my book. We also shopped Mazda CX-9. Awesome car, too much $$$$. There are deals out there as I searched for about 2 months. It would seem there are quite a few coming off rental or leases right now. The dealer had a internet price of no-haggle price of $19,900 and I called and asked what his best price would be and he said make him an offer. $19,200 plus the certified of $495 was what we settled on. Since it was certified, we also got Ford's 4.9% financing. couldn't be happier.
I was checking the Apple Valley Ford web site in March and came across a 2007 SEL, Silver Birch, moonroof, convenience group, power package, 60/40 and 50/50. I was curious what kind of price I could get so I went in to talk to the salesman who sold me my 2005 SE. The sticker was $29060.00 and I drove it home for $23060.00. I couldn't pass it up! Over $1000.00 less than I paid for my 05. A nice surprise was the wood grain instrument panel.
Hi Peeter. It's great that you are able to lease the Freestyle that you are interested in through Ford's X-Plan. It guarantees that you will get an attractive selling price without having to haggle. Ford Credit's current base lease rate and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL AWD with 15,000 miles per year are .75% and 53%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are 2.5% and 44%. The numbers for a 24 month, 15k lease of an '07 Freestyle Limited AWD are .75% and 54%. Its 36 month numbers are 2.5% and 45%.
Yes, I got $14000 and saw it advertised on their web site for $15999. I'm sure I could have done better selling it myself but my purchase was a compulsive spur of the moment deal. I now have a Freestyle with the options I wish I'd bought back then.
I'm in the Los Angeles, Cal. area and I'm considering buying the ad car from a local dealer.
The car is as follows
It's a FWD SEL. 2007 MODEL YEAR BLACK CLEARCOAT

The MSRP is $28, 870.00. I'm trying to find the money factor and the residual value based on both 24/36 month leases with 12k per year. Is the residual 50%? There's a $3,000 rebate and the dealer is offering a fat incentive of their own, so I'm trying to figure out what the payment should be based on a credit score in the high 700s...
Josh: Verify that $3,000 is compatible with a lease, right now the Ford website shows no lease incentives. I think you'll find out from previous posts that a 50% residual is overly optimistic for 36 months, but the MF should be attractve. Let us know how you do, some friends have a 2005 Freestyle and love it, little or no problems (nothing major anyway) Regards, Andrew
The rebate I'm talking about was found on Edmunds and when I mentioned it to the salesman he knew about it. In reading it it only says that financing must occur through Ford, nothing about whether or not it's a lease. If this is available for me on a lease, I'll save more than 7k. I never mentioned to the dealer I would be leasing, I guess I'll have to contact the dealer to confirm if this rebate can be used on a lease. I wanted a bit more information, money factor, res. value, before telling him I would be leasing so I had all my ducks in a row.

Hi meandbob. Here's the information on this truck's lease program that you're interested in. In California, Ford Credit's current base lease rate and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2007 Freestyle SEL 2WD with 12,000 miles per year are 0.75% and 55%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are 2.5% and 45%. This vehicle's lease payment will vary depending upon what its selling price is. If you provide me with this number I would be happy to calculate what its lease payment should be for you.
Trying the decide between the Freestyle and Edge. Looking at the SEL in move models, but sometimes the next higher model, ever if the MSRP is higher. gives you a better lease deal.
Looking for a 2yr 15000 mile lease. I have Z-plan access. The x-plan site (I have that too) sez there is a $4000 total incentives on the Freestyle and $2000 on the Edge. Suspect this is for buy only.
I'm in the process of moving and can will either lease in Detroit before the move or in Denver after.
Can the car man provide the residual and money factor? Since the freestyle the becoming the Tauras X the lease deal may not be there.
While the Freestyle is a better driving vehicle than the Edge and has more room, at this point i would not buy or lease one. Why? While I own one and like it very much, it has a transmission which is no longer produced (CVT) and for which there will be few technicians who know how to service it. Get the new X. Cost is not everything.

:shades:

Ironically, the DVD is something my wife has on her "needs" list (3 kids 10 & under)
Thanks
Peeter
A DVD is on my wife's "absolutely not" list. She says that she had to endure endless vacations in the back seat without entertainment, so the kids should also endure it. I suppose she thinks it builds character. Or else she likes to hear "are we there yet?" :shades:
If I was to do it all over again, I would likely just go with portable units mainly as it is not worth the extra $$ as you suggest.
I can't see it being outlawed as long as we continue to allow cell phones, navigation units, curling your hair etc.
We currently have the built-in unit in our Windstar and it does not get in the way. I guess it is different in the Freestyle as the one I've driven in did not have one.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give!
Josh

Andrew
The rebate I'm talking about was found on Edmunds and when I mentioned it to the salesman he knew about it. In reading it it only says that financing must occur through Ford, nothing about whether or not it's a lease. If this is available for me on a lease, I'll save more than 7k. I never mentioned to the dealer I would be leasing, I guess I'll have to contact the dealer to confirm if this rebate can be used on a lease. I wanted a bit more information, money factor, res. value, before telling him I would be leasing so I had all my ducks in a row.
