"Hong qi" won't fly here, it sounds too much like "Honkey". :D

    Ca. 1951/1952 IIRC
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
You're closer than anyone else. It's a 1959 Triumph Estate Wagon.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
    Tres bien Johno

That is indeed a 1952 Ford (de France) Vedette.

Good guess Juice, it's the current Nissan Patrol, look for it when you see UN peacekeepers on the TV news.

In UK and some other countries ie Australia etc this was sold as a Standard Ten Companion, but in US I don't think you had Standard as a make by then. They also made a van (called the Courier I think but that name was also used for the Triumph Herald van a few years later) and also a pick-up, although that must have been rare.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
The Stratos was left hand drive only, I think, but they certainly sold a few in UK, not just for rallying because I used to see one every couple of weeks on the Chelsea Embankment.
More recently someone introduced a kit car using Lancia Beta parts, as a sort of replica - quite a close one in the pictures - but I think somone else now makes a cheaper Replica using Fiat parts. It was such a classic design that it will keep getting replicated, a bit like the Cobra, I suppose.

    That's right, it's a Spider California. :)

Probably an AMC, judging by the oversized body and undersized running gear.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,431

Hudson of some 1951-53 vintage. Probably a Wasp. I'm pretty sure it's not a Hornet.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That's my guess, very timely too...

  • michaellnomichaellno Member Posts: 4,120
The one on the left is Paul Newman, while the one on the right is Owen Wilson.

The blue car is meant to be a Hudson; not sure about the red car.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Newman's character is a Hudson, but Lightning McQueen is a made-up car, not any particular model.

The main car is a Goggomobile Dart, 1958/61, built in Australia.
Behind it is an MGA, Land-Rover mk11 probably an 88" but maybe an 86" wheelbase, and behind that an M-Benz 190SL.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425

Really? I was thinking C6 Corvette.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,431
I think that MB behind the MGA and old Land Rover is a 300SL
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Pretty good job Magnette but I have to go along with Fintail on this one. The Merc appears to have the compound headlights that first appeared on the 300SL roadster (1958?) but AFAIK never appeared on the 190SL or for that matter of the 300SL "Gullwing" coupes.

I'm sure you meant to type Mk II rather than Mk.11 re: the Land Rover.:P FWIW the MGA looks like a Mk II with the slight indentation at the bottom of the grill.

Lada Signets...I remember these....the 'little red square'...sad to say I always kinda liked these.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
They look exactly like Fiat 124 wagons with square h/ls, which is what they are. ;)

Looks like a Mk I Escort, I don't know if it is a RS something or other
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, it's an Escort Mk.1, most likely an RS. Mods include wide racing Minilite Wheels, Hogged out fenders and extra driving lights.

Escort RS1600, the works ones had the flared arches, but the version offered to the public generally didn't, as standard. The indicators and grille look like a sold-to-the-public one, so presumably the arches are a modification, like the wheels. Great car though....

Mid-'90s Nissan President. We got the short-wheelbase version with a different nose as the Q45.

Rats, I had MG, Benz, and Lada.

A taxi driver in Jamaica told me that LADA stood for "Laugh, and Die Aftah" and then proceeded to break out in the wildest laughter I think I've ever heard. He had a Lada Samara cab, I think.
