For some reason, I've always preferred the 4-door version of that car. I don't know why, but I just like the look. They made them in both 1963 and 1964; not many of them, but a few. Oh, and I like that color.

It's an XL. You can just make out the red XL on the front edge of the front badge, but the givaway is the individual rear seat backs with the divider between them.

That's correct but the P6 name covers all Rover sedans sold as the Rover 2000, 2200 and 3500 depending on which motor they had. The pictured cars was sold as the Rover 2000 TC with a twincam 2 liter four in the mid-60s.
I think Fintail was referring to the Galaxie 500 XL 4-dooe HARDTOP, not the sedan in the pic (the difference is the lack of a center post in the HARDTOP unlike the frame/post in the Sedan version). I think the 4 door XL Hardtop did look pretty good.
I had a '64 XL 2-door hartop, and it was beautiful, especially the interior - bucket seats w/brushed aluminum backs were the same as in the T-Bird. Ah, those were the days... :P
That is definitely a '73 Cougar. Ford introduced new intermediates in 1972 with pretty but flimsy little bumpers on both ends. No plans at all for the new bumper regs coming. Thus, in '73, big honking ones were added to the front, and then in '74, even worse battering rams were grafted onto the rears. One of the worst was the big beam added to the 74 Thunderbird rear. Only in the case of the 74 Lincoln Mark IV did Ford make any attempt to integrate 5 mph bumpers into the design, in those first years of the requirement.
Aaah Dual-Ghia...I think those were popular among movie stars.
The D-G was a favorite of the Rat Pack, Sinatra, Lawford and Bishop each had one. Peter Lawford's appeared in the TV version of The Thin Man which starred Lawford as Nick Charles.
6801 is some kind of Alfa sedan, 1900? Maybe ca. 1962, kind of an Italian fintail
You're on the money Nolid5. It's a '72 Vixen. TVR Griffins, Vixens and 2500Ms look much alike. Word is that TVR is on it's last legs financially and is producing only a trickle of cars.
Sized between the Corolla and the Camry, although most of Europe doesn't get the Camry anymore because: a) They don't need such big family vehicles - they get by with Focus-size or Vectra-size b) Their tastes are a little more refined - the last-gen Camry, at least, was really nothing special at all. Floaty, dull, automotive appliance.
It's funny though... I just noticed that Australia is between the UK and the US in automotive tastes. Random thought.
Interestingly neither the Avensis nor the Camry sell well in Europe.
As for Oz being between the US and Europe in automotive tastes, perhaps....
It's interesting to me that in a country with thousands of square miles of Outback they prefer car-based trucks ("utes") as opposed to pick-ups which are popular here even though most of us have to travel many miles to get to the "outback". :confuse:

About 10 years ago a 64 4 door fastback came up locally...it was really pristine, and it sold for like 3K. I thought it could have been a nice rig.
They must be relatively rare, this is the only image I can find
