a Magnum with a Chrysler grill/badge. Is that what they sell in Europe as a Chrysler, since Dodge isn't a brand over there?

    That's right, Stick, it's known as a 300C/SRT-8
Touring. IMO the Chrysler grille works better
    on the wagon.

    Some kind of mid-'60s Ferrari?

Really, I have no idea, but whenever I see a car that has a similar C-pillar and rear-end from my old '67 BMW coupe, it turns out to be a Ferrari..

Nope, it's not a Ferrari but you have the right era.

Lamborghini?? of some sort, mid to late 60's based on the look of the wheels.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Chip Foose built a custom like that on an episode of Overhaulin'. He basically took a Magnum and swapped in a 300C front end.

Good eye, Johno. Those are the same wheels seen on the Lambo Miura. The car is a 1968-69 Lamborghini Islero.

Easy one, MB 300SL ca. 1960, Euro model to boot.

There are two of these in my area, I've seen them on the road.

And I think in the background is a Maserati 3500 or Lancia Flaminia from the same period.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
You're right of course but how can you tell it's a Euro-spec car?

I like the 300SL Roadster way more than the original Gullwing coupe:

    >Easier to get in and out of
    >Disc brakes ('61 & '62)
    >Improved rear suspension
    >Better field of vision
    >Better looking IMHO.

It's wearing the Euro lights. I suppose it could be a conversion, but 300SLs rarely meet modification.

    I'll take one of each.

It's a Morris Pickup from the 60's, only reason I know it's a Morris is because that's my loast name.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
That's right, the little Morris is a '67.

Apparently no one remembers this clunker which was fairly commonplace on American roads in the 70s as the Plymouth Cricket and on British/Euro roads as the Hillman Avenger.

Both were built by the Rootes Group Ltd, at the time owned by Chrsler Corp.

Correct, You must have been watching My Classic Car too. I always thought a Matador was an AMC only model.

I always thought a Matador was an AMC only model.

It's amazing how often the same name was used by
different automakers back in the day. E.g. "Suburban" was used by both ChryCo and GM in thr late 50s and early 60s. There were other examples but they don't come to mind.

The lawyers started getting into the act when Puegeot leaned on Porsche for using the name 901 for the successor to the 356. Pug's lawyers informed Porsche that they held the exclusive trademark on model names with three digits and a zero in the middle. :confuse:

Thus was born the long lasting, iconic name "911".

54 Plymouth, dunno the model. Something my dad and about 4 other people in the world would find attractive.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,677
I went car shopping with my dad for a 1960 and looked at Darts and Dodges. Polara, Matador, Phoenix are all Dodge names.

I don't get the TV show you mentioned. I recall they had swivel seats for entry/exit, something GM used much later on the Monte Carlo, right model?

Also the extra long taillights made the top line stand out from the normal Dodge with those slanted tailfins. Actually nice looking cars.

I love a large cruisein with all these old cars that's in Brookville once a year. Maybe 150-200 cars. It's a walk down memory lane.

The lights on those slanted tailfins were an option on the 60 Matador according to the collector that was showing off his late 50's early 60's Chrysler collection. Pretty intersting show for a change.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup, it was also known in the day as the 250GT 2+2. It's a late version, note the fog lamps mounted in the bodywork so probably a '63 S3.

That's a nice shot of a Borgward Isabella, prolly taken in the UK (RHD).

I've actually ridden in an Isabella, a knew a Dutch guy whose Dad had one.

The Vauxhall is a 1958 model.

Buick Excelle HRV? Basically a chinese market Chevrolet/Holden/Suzuki/Daewoo Optra/Lacetti/Viva/Reno/Forenza/Nubira (did I miss any?)
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,431
I am sure I see a Buick crest there. I am surprised the braintrust doesn't bring that one in as a Buick.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,677
How large is this car? What is something comparable. Like Fintail says, it's a good looking car, from this angle at least. It would be a seller on a Buick only label.

I was actually kind of joking. We actually get that car already - Suzuki Reno. I think it would damage any upmarket desires had by Buick.
