Something about the back door reminds me of the second-gen Oldsmobile Aurora, but the rest of the car is too spiffy to be from GM.

Perhaps that's because it is a second-gen Aurora. I don't know why GM killed it either. ;)

It does look alot like a 2nd Generation- Aurora, but not spiffy enough to be an Aurora. ;)

I'll guess '64 Dodge Coronet (because I think I can read Coronet on the front fender).

It was just featured as Autoblog's Reader Ride of the Day. It's a well-maintained 2003 "Final 500" Aurora. Very nice car indeed.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
okay, I thought it was an Aurora. I was almost wondering if it was a Chin-E- class carbon copy Aurora. I agree it looked very well maintained. I've always liked the Aurora, and this month I need to make a final decision if I'm going to buy Grandma's or not. I'm leaning torwards buying it.

Youse are flunking Iron Curtain Cars of the 60s in a big way. Those are all 1963 Skoda Octavias.

I was thinking the Skodas were more Wartburgs or something.

Over here the Octavia was the saloon, the convertible (shown here with hardtop) was the Felicia, and the estate was the Octavia Combi, which was sold here until about 1971, while the saloon and conv were dropped in about 64, as there was no estate in the rear-engined Skoda 1000 range which was introduced in 64 .

Funny you'd mention Hyundai. When the 2nd-gen Aurora first came out, from the rear they made me think of a Hyundai for some reason.

4-seat Ferraris from the early 80's? I think they were called Mondial or something like that?
  • michaellnomichaellno Member Posts: 4,120
    Is, I believe, a late 70's (?) 365 GTB.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,574
I don't know the model, but I'm going to put that in the early '70s...

Late '70s were 308s.. like on Magnum PI

Now that you mention it, the car does look kinda "fuselaged", for lack of a better word, which is more of an early 70's styling fetish. Weren't the late 70's Ferraris a bit more slab-sided?

Started as the 365GT4 BB I believe ca. 1974, then became the 512 BB

That's essentially correct. The car pictured is a late one, an '82 512BB. In it's earlier form it had a smaller motor (4.4l) and was knowen as the 365 BB/4 which is not to be confused with the earlier front engine V12 365 GTB/4 "Daytona".

The Boxer Berlinetta was the first 12 cylinder street Ferrari to have it's motor behind the driver, a belated reply, many say, to the Lambo Miura of 1966.

The profile says "MGB-GT", but the badge on the grille has me confused ... some sort of Rover equivalent?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Nope it's a '69 MGC-GT, with a six cylinder motor based on the 3-liter from the Big Healey.

British Leyland was hoping to replace the A-H 3000 with this newer MG cousin but the result was a car that was hopelessly front-heavy. :(

Yep I believe that's how they evolved.

You can see the hood bulge on the MGC-GT...

Dacia Logan. Dacia has come a long way since the recycled Renault they've been using for the last 30 years:

Looks to be an early Borgward of some kind
  • andre1969andre1969 Member Posts: 26,032
I have no idea on that thing. What's that hardtop coupe looking thing in the background though?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,454
    That's a Borgward Isabella
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
The black car is a '49 Borgward Hansa 1500. I think it looks almost American with a resemblance to a '49 Ford or Merc or peraps a contemporary Kaiser or Frazer.
