That's correct Juice, the little Daewoo is sold all over the world under a profusion of make/model names.

andre1969, I meant the J body platform when I originally posted the G Platform. The years have flown by , and apparently my memory for these details.........My friend had a J body Skyhawk with the 1.8 L and 3 spd automatic. I think the pushrod engine was willing , but the 2 door coupe was heavy, and that 3 spd. slushbox had gear ratios as wide as the Mississipi . He renamed it the Buick "Skybark."......... :P

I had a J body. I knew what you meant. It had the 1.8 L and it was a great motor. It was OHC complete with a timing belt ready to break like all the foreign cars.

My neighbor had one, was very disappointed that he was getting all of 16 mpgs (auto, station wagon). Not so hot....

Acura NSX. Don't know what year. They didn't change much.

There were two different four-bangers in the J-body (not counting the much latter "Quad 4"-based engines). The OHV engine (2.0L and 2.2L) was offered in Chevrolet and Oldsmobile models while the Brazilian-sourced SOHC engine (1.8L and 2.0L) was offered in Buick and Pontiac models in turbocharged and naturally-aspirated versions.

NSX, I'll hazard a guess of 1995 since the USDM cars were targa-roof only after maybe 1996 or so. The car in the back is a late-90s E-class.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
    It's a facelift W210 E-class (with a sport package) 2000-2002 :P
  • steelydanfansteelydanfan Member Posts: 134
hudsonthedog, that's the way I remembered it exactly . The only other engine ever offered in the J car was the GM corporate 2.8 V6 that was stuffed into the Cadillac Cimarron, that V6 may have grown into a 3.1L /3.3L before the Cimarron was retired (can't remember the year .....early 90's somewhere).
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Believe the Cimmaron was retired after 1988.

As Lemko said, the Cimarron ended in 1988 and never got the larger versions of the Chevy 60-degree V6. It did, however, get the 1.8L (there was a 1.8L version of the OHV engine in the Chevrolet and Olds as well) and 2.0L OHV four (depending on the year) as standard equipment. Chevrolet and Cadillac got the 2.8L V6...Chevrolet and Pontiac later got the 3.1L version.

What Movie was the still from ? The actors look like they are dressed as if it was made recently.

From that scene it looks like something bad is about to happen.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
It's from a 2002movie I've never heard of called Baader. It had something to do with the infamous Baader-Meinhoff terrorist ring so they probably are up to no good. ;)

Late 50s ear early 60s is the best I can come up with. I just don't know enough about Ferraris.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
I'll guess it's a 250GT California Spyder, the Ferris Bueller special
  • steelydanfansteelydanfan Member Posts: 134
fintail, is this the one Ferris Bueller drove on his day off ? ? :shades:

I thinking 1958 here.........go ahead and shoot me down on this stuff, I can take it...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Ferris Bueller's car was an MG-based replica of the real California Spider (note spelling
-only Maserati and Porsche use the "y"). The photos I posted were of an early 1958 LWB Ferrari 250GT Spider California

Gen I Prius, I'll guess 1997, the year it came out.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Well, it's not a Volvo because it has a split windshield.

I'm guessing that's a Peterbilt but the lack of exhaust stacks makes me wonder....
  • hudsonthedoghudsonthedog Member Posts: 552
I'll agree with the Peterbilt answer, but the Prius isn't a 1997 because it's LHD.

Perhaps I should have said "of the carmakers who make Spiders (two seat roadsters)
only Maserati uses the "y" (a four seater isn't a real Spider IMO.)

. To further confuse things Porsche's Spyder is the single seat race car the LMP-1 RS Spyder.>

Does it fly like a M.A.S.K. car?
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,603
Well, I can only ascertain 2 things:

    1. From the hood emblem I think it must be a Toyota.
    2. Somebody spent much too much money modifying it.

Yes it is, this JDM model will be called the Biante, another of those dumb names that means nothing inany language.

It's there...probably a single on the right side. If you notice the tanker and dump trucks on the road, their stacks are shorter since there is no tall van trailer to clear the exhaust soot. Have you seen the front of some trailers with soot on them?
The new diesels are much cleaner now....

What was that stylist's name? Exner? Man those things had to be unique in 60 or 61? I'm guessing it's a Chrysler, but did they make DeSoto wagons? Or was the DeSoto killed off by then?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Wagon - 1962, as that was the year they used the grille with the cross like the previous year's 300 series..
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Exactly right, Magnette. DeSoto was gone by the Dave. IIRC 1960 was the last year for DeSoto.
