I agree. I would also hope to see a return to the availability of minimalist small SUV's
It's disgraceful that you have to put up with the poor quality of a Wrangler in order to get a minimalist 4WD. Toyota and Nissan could make a pile offering something like their original FJ40LC or Patrol.
According to whatcar.co.uk, the Aygo is 345 mm (14 inches) shorter and 145 kg (300 lbs) lighter than the Yaris 3dr. I'd love to have one, but I think it would be a bit of a stretch for US conditions.
This is a passenger model. I know that by 1970 or so they used the "Club Wagon" name, but I don't think that's true of the original versions like this one. Weren't they called "Falcon Station Bus" or something odd?
I agree with Fintail. IIRC these were called Econoline and the Club Wagon was a full size van. Ford also had a pick-up version I thought was kinda neat.
Econoline was the name of the cargo van, and Club Wagon (or Station Bus) was the same vehicle, but with seats and windows. By 1969 both vehicles had moved beyond Falcon mechanicals and had sprouted a short hood in front.
Way to show the three Yaris cousins for what they are! Domestically the Yaris gets no love with the Honda Fit ruling the B compact class. But here we see the Yaris super popular across the globe and under several different makes!
I'll take a wild guess, but the top one appears to be a British Ford Zodiac. Not sure of the year. I guess around 1960? The bottom one appears to be a Vauxhall Velox of around the same vintage 1960-61 or so. The Vauxhall seems to have a Ghia body if I'm correct about the crest on the tailgate.
Well done lemko and fintail, but the coachwork in both cases is different.
The Ford is a Zodiac Mk II, but the estate version was converted by Farnham, and this model was current from 1956/62 - although I think the estate was introduced later than the saloon.
The Vauxhall was a Velox, although it looks the same as a Cresta from this angle, and the estate was by Friary. This particular car was the facelifted Velox PA from late 1959/62, but the estate had been introduced earlier in 1959 for the original Velox/Cresta range.
Both of these cars, although conversions by outside coachbuilders, were available directly from the respective manufacturers and sold through their dealer network.
As hinted by the title it isn't actually a Morgan - it is instead a GCS Hawke - made from about 1999 to 2005, I think, but they later sold the design to another company, and this replica was still being produced as the LCD Hawke until recently. Engine and transmission was originally Ford Cortina, later Sierra, so typically this would be 1600/1800/2000cc, but GCS also developed a version with the Rover V8, as a replica Morgan plus8. If put together properly it is quite a tidy car, although not one to appeal to the purists...
smart roadster, maybe the Brabus version as this one has the wheels, body-color fenders, and optional targa top. I like the roadster-coupe hatchback better.
Yep, '72 Polara. Ugly looking thing IMO, but it has a sort of brutishness to it. Those "loop" bumpers wouldn't pass the 5 mph bumper standards, so for 1973 the Polara went to a conventional, jutting bumper, and a large grille flanked by quad headlights with peaks in the centers, sort of like an early 70's Oldsmobile.

From the viewer's left, the red car is an AMC Hornet ca. 1973-74. I believe the yellow car is some species of Ford Consul. The big olive-colored thing looks like a lower-line Plymouth of some sort (can't place the year--maybe 1955-56 Plaza?) and the red thing behind it is familiar but hard to nail down--maybe a Triumph Toledo?
Harder to figure out is where all of these cars would be seen in the same street scene, especially since I don't remember the movie and can't recognize the skyline. Australia? South Africa?
The silver rear quarter panel at the extreme left looks early 1970s GM--Buick Skylark or maybe a Holden.
I don't know what city it is, perhaps some Bond fan can recall.
I'm puzzled. I don't know from the movie. Registration plates are unknown to me. The town looks Eastern but it is European or Asiatic? Cars ride on the left avenue lane, but not every steering wheel is to the right of the car. Someone here can tell if there is left-hand circulation in Romania? Anyhow, I dare say is India, but it is only my wild guess. May be I prone to say so because of the policeman/soldier standing in the mob.
Given the number of Yank tanks, I think that it's probably Bangkok since there was a huge American military presence in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Lessee .. the Citroen says "C1" on the plate, and the Toyota says "Aygo" ... I just don't know the name of the Renault.
All basically Euro-versions of the Yaris.

It seems like a Morgan 4/4 or +4 four-seater, vintage anywhere between 1953 and sometime last week.
What it is, if it isn't what it seems, I haven't a clue. If it's a fake, it's a pretty good one.

Seat Exeo, a D sedan from € 22,000, just presented these days in Paris Salon. 2.0 TSI 200 hp.
Edit: Exeo will be released in Spring 2009 from Barcelona factory. I have just read Exeo will be available in Mexico in Autumn that year.
(Apparently Seat is letting Lamborghini (Reventón, Estoque ) to be the only carmaker currently calling models with Spanish names. :P )

Jose
