I'm always amazed at the kind of parts they can get for those cars, relatively cheaply. The British seem to have a kind of store we lack over here, where you go in and get, say, a hood for a 1980 BMW for $200. They also seem to have no problem getting complete trim kits for the plastic bumper covers on 20-year old 205 GTIs, cheap.
From what I've read in "Practical Classics" and some of the other enthusiast mags from over there, there's also a willingness to "bodge" a solution to a problem if the parts don't exist any more. With so many orphaned marques, it makes sense.
I wonder if we'll be doing the same thing for '09 Challengers and Camaros in 20-30 years. . .
It's a Skoda from maybe the mid 70s, I don't know the model. Somehow I like old Skodas, and Tatras are of course very cool.
Here's another shot of the car. It's sort of "lovably ugly," in my view, like a Type III VW or perhaps a Hino Contessa Coupe.

All things considered, I thought that 325 Touring turned out really well. Doesn't hurt to have a guy like Ed handy, however. The sunk costs are a bit misleading since they don't count labor, but I guess the show is intended for folks who can DIY and have the space and tools necessary to do that kind of work.
Agreed. The yellow paint helps a great deal. I think the Skoda coupe and the Fiat 850 I posted a couple of days ago share a lot of design elements, but the Fiat has perfect proportions. The Skoda is, well, not so perfect. Still, if I lived somewhere in Europe I'd probably go looking for one to play with.

I think you need to have a chat with the internet guy...maybe bring a baseball bat or a mace along with you incase you can't get through the usually arrogant ego of the IT dork :shades:

Sometimes I don't like to be treated like a 5 year old.

Sounds like the head office is staffed by intelligent responsible people who earn their pay and deserve their positions. Such people are the reason why businesses succeed
Micromanagement is a good way to run a place into the ground.
I agree that this can be opressive, and shows a lack of trust in staff, but there is also an element - here as elsewhere - who take undie advantage. We had one bloke who never turned out a piece of work on time, and when his manager walked in unexpectedly the bloke was writing an article for some horoscope site...(he couldn't have been very good at horoscopes, or he would have known that was going to happen)

Actually, a (ca) 1979 Ford Fiesta L, very popular in Spain at the time; I believe the registration plate of the ("more modern") van behind is a Spanish one.

And Lemko is right, of course - (Hey it's a Buick and Lemko knows Buicks), the roof has been chopped but even stock that trunk is purty darn looooooooog
