If they'd have put a dash/interior like that in our Ramblers I might have considered one.

No kidding. It also had a ZF four-speed transmission, and some models had real wood in the dash too. Then again, in Argentina it was considered an upper-middle-class car, not the loss leader it was in the US.

Its hard to see, but that Imperial might be a 63 which had a fender mounted vertical tailight, but no gunsight light on the fender top.

I recall my father considering a used Rambler when I was a kid. I was mortified at the time because that was definitely uncool. However, looking back now Ramblers were actually decent cars for their price at the time. Its funny how things look different when you're older. I thought the 63 Chrysler was an ugly barge when it came out, but think they are kind of classy looking today.

Poor AMC was pretty cash strapped by the mid sixties when the Rogue came out. I always give Richard Teague credit for what he and his staff accomplished on a shoestring.

This is an Armstrong Siddeley, either a 234 or a 236, made 1955/8.

what about the bumper piece or the seat
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
The registration - if original would indicate mid 1958, and it was issued by Staffordshire. I've been trying to work out what the pre-war car in the showroom is...

Edit - I think it might be a 1930/33 Standard - probably a Big 9. But 1930's saloons do look very similar, and it is a bit small for easy identification.

It is a 56 Pontiac Star Chief - here's the front view...

as for the Cadillac, I can't see it clearly enough - I'll check my photos to see if I've got a clearer picture of it, so you can tell me if it's 55 or 56.

I'll go along with the cars, but you're on your own with the trucks - I know I took the picture, but I didn't take anything that would corroborate them, because I don't do much with trucks...

    Red: Buick Sportwagon, ca. 1970
    Green: 1960 Lincoln?
White: '69 Camaro or Firebird (can't tell without seeing more of the door)

I was feeling 72 or 73 Torino for the cream car in the background.

How sure are you that it was British? There was a 2-door sedan called the Borgward Isabella that was available into the early '60s but it was German.

The Buick is a '68 Sportwagon. The Lincoln could be any year '58-'60.

Any of the guesses on the white car could be right, another possibility is '66-'68 Riviera or Toronado. :confuse:

The white car is a Camaro or Firebird, no doubt about it

The nomenclature on Big Healeys is tricky.

That's officially a 1959 Austin Healey 3000/BN7 BN7s were two seat roadsters as opposed to the BT7 four-seaters. The factory never used the term
"Mk.I" but everyone else did for the 3000s built from '59-'61 to distinguish them from the Mk II ('61-'63) and the more common (in the US) Mk. III ('63-'67).

Somebody beat me to it! I had the Sportwagon's smaller sister - the 1968 Special Deluxe wagon. The Sportwagon was on a long 121" wheelbase and the Special Deluxe wagon was on a shorter 116" wheelbase. Both the "intermediate" Sportwagon and Vista Cruiser served as Buick and Oldsmobile full-size wagons from 1964 through 1969. Sportwagon's last year was 1969 but the Vista Cruiser soldiered on through 1972. The true full-size Estate Wagon and Custom Cruised debuted in 1971.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
Yes, when I was looking at the Sportwagon I was remembering the Vista Cruiser I used to drive for a summer job. It's still odd thinking about that when I compare it to driving today. I used to have to haul that wagon into Brooklyn several times. I can't imagine doing that today.

    Italy, oh Italy.

Lancia Ardea? Up to the early fifties of the 20th Century.

    Regards,
    Jose
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
That's correct Jose, the Ardea was sold from 1937 thru 1953. I was hoping someone would mistake it for a Lancia Appia. :P

Some consider pre-Fiat Lancias highly underrated, that one is just adorable.

Indeed she is. :) And the influence on other more recent but uglier European models, such as the Renault 4/4, can be traced from her restrained elegance.

  • urnewsurnews Member Posts: 668
I'd guess mid 1950s because of the one-piece windshield.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,592
Big coachbuilt International 4WD woody...sometime in the early 50s...I forget the details but I am pretty sure I saw that on ebay once.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
    Yup it's a 1953 International R-40 4X4. The wood body is coachbuilt (1 of 3) and it has a quasi-military background.
