California plates ... it could be the same one. :)

Close Steve, it's not a Kaiser Jeep but rather a 1950 Willys-Jeep Wagon.

There's not much difference from one year to another but the five horizontal bars were
    only seen from '49-'53.

I always guess '49 because I think that's the one I have hanging over my garage.

Looks like a 1964 Pontiac -- Bonneville? Looks too gutsy for a Parisienne....

Nope, sorry Fezo, it's neither a '61 nor an Imperial.

Dang! If it's not a 61 it must be a 60. If not an Imperial then a Chrysler.....

I'd still go with 60 but maybe it's a DeSoto?

That Chrysler was a good one. I had three different close but no cigars on that! The DeSoto I was thinking of was an Adventurer.

Extra points for the dark convertible and the orange/blue cars.

Well, the dark convertible is definitely a Fiat 850 Spider. The red BMW appears to be a mid'60s 1800.
  • michaellnomichaellno Member Posts: 4,120
In the background is a Porsche 924, painted in the Gulf Oil colors.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,419
I think the composite headlights makes that a BMW 2000, and it is wearing Augsburg registration.

The dark convertible looks like an Alfa to me, and I agree on the orange and blue Porsche.

White van might be a VW Caravelle?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Sorry, Stephen 987, you're a little off on the BMW and the shape of the door handle doesn't correspond to that of the Fiat 850 Spider pics I've been able to dig up which show a handle toward the rear of the door rather than the top, as in this photo.

My first thought was that it was an Alfa Spider and after checking several Alfa photos
I found different door hardware but this 1980's Spider Veloce had a similar door handle.

Yep, it is a BMW 2000TI ca. '66-'72 and you and Michaell are correct on the Porche 924 in Gulf livery.

Yeah, you're right about the door handle. The 850 has that funky layout with the button in the door and the finger slot behind the door. Not sure how I could forget that, considering how often I had to put it back together on the one I owned back in high school!

This is confusing me - The body says '71-'72 Plymouth Satellite, but the grill says '71-'72 Dodge Charger. Did someone slap a Dodge grill on here?????
  • andre1969andre1969 Member Posts: 26,023
I think it's a '73-74 Charger. IIRC, the '71-72 Chargers had rear quarter windows that were kind of like an upside-down triangle, but they changed for '73-74, to a larger window (or louvers, if so optioned).
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
I think you're right, except it has to be a '73, the '74 had added bumper pads:
    image
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
So it's a '73, identical in all but color (and absence of massive hood scoop) to the one used in Burn Notice:

Thanks Stephen, it was Burn Notice that gave me he idea to post it. :shades:

If it's a '73 then where are the rubber bumpers? 1973 was the first year requiring the 5mph front bumpers, right? '74 required both front and rear 5mph. '72 had no requirements, thus no 'rubber bumpers'. I'm still not convinced....
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
"If it's a '73 then where are the rubber bumpers?"

That's what I thought, too, but all the pics of '73s don't have those rubber bumpers. Go figure :confuse:
    Here's the '72:

  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
If you look closely, the entire grill-bumper assembly on the '73-74 models stands out perhaps 1.5 inches from the sheetmetal, with a narrow grey plastic membrane bridging the gap.
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
This is tough - looks like a 1951 Hudson Hornet dash to me.

I never noticed that the actual loop bumper of the '73-74 Charger stuck out, but now that you mention it...

When I was younger, I never really liked the '71-74 Charger, mainly because it seemed so lame compared to the '68-70. The nameplate itself also got watered down, as the Charger nameplate got applied to ALL 1971-74 Dodge midsized coupes. From '66-70, it was a more high-spec car. People tend to think of them as musclecars today, but the original mission of the car was more of a personal luxury coupe, along the lines of the Grand Prix.

The '71-74 models still had some pretty good performance though, and stayed with it longer than Ford or GM. In 1973, you could still get a 440-6 pack with 330 hp net. Just for comparison, the old 426 Hemi, had about 350 hp net. Even in '74, you could still get a 280 hp 440. That must have been bold, to offer something like that in the midst of the oil embargo!

I believe that's the Cadillac SLS sold in China. Looks like they combined an American STS front end with Chinese Buick body.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep that's the CDM Caddy SLS which some think would be a good replacement for the stodgy old DTS.

It seems a lot of the older crowd that buys the DTS prefers FWD even though many live in the Sunbelt. DeVilles and DTSs abound in Florida and Arizona.

Looks like a 1964 or 65 Buick Special about to get hit by a 1949-50 Ford. That mangled reddish car in the back looks like a '60-61 Dodge Dart.

What movie is that? It makes me think a bit of "Grand Theft Auto", but I don't think it is.

**Edit...the more I think of it, that looks kinda like a '65 Tempest. Those three little chrome strips were making me think Buick at first.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
The movie is The Last American Hero (1973). IMCDB doesn't specifically identify the Poncho but the consensus is that it's a '64 Tempest. One poster opines that the three hash marks were unique to the '64 Tempest Custom.

I wouldn't know about that but I think it could be a low line '65 Tempest.
