Yep, it's a '66 Valiant Signet. I saw a similar car in Arizona this winter that had an exterior fan fitted to the outside of the left front grille. I guessed the car was originally delivered to someone who lived in the Northern US and then moved to AZ and discovered that he had to add aircon and the auxiliary fan to keep the car cool when the A/C was running.

BX… I doubt its merits were as tangible to even the handful of Citroen enthusiasts in the US…

Hey, don't disdain Citroen BXs! :P I owned one 19 GTI (16 valves) from 1987 to 1995, 150,000 miles (my first car with AC). Like that in pic below but painted in white and registered in Spain. Designed by Marcelo Gandini.

    link title

Suspension, engine, handling, comfort… nothing less but inches more than most of the other Segment D cars of that time. :shades: Mmm, consume was above average as well.

Actually, Jose, I wouldn't have gotten that one. . . but thanks for the compliment nonetheless!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Nope sorry it's not a Lancia, nor is it early 60s.

It wouldn't be an early-'50s Salmson, would it?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Sorry not a Salmson either. Methinks you guys need a clue:

That nice looking Coupe body is by Allemano, it sits on the platform of a popular small sedan of the 1950s.

Don't tell me… is it a Maserati cousin? A Romeo perhaps? No, she is an Abarth 6 cylinder Allemano, 1960. :shades:

    Bingo Stephen it's a 1954 Fiat 1100/103 Sport Coupe/Allemano, it looks a decade newer than a '54.

My guess is a 1952 Pontiac Chieftan
  • urnewsurnews Member Posts: 668
For sure it's Pontiac, but I think earlier than 1952, maybe a '50 or '51.
  • lokkilokki Member Posts: 1,200
Brass era cars are almost impossible for me.... Lights are from around 1905 or so - maybe a National
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,421
I am pretty sure that car (I can't get to the reply button thanks to the margin issue) is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Sorry Lokki, Urnews is a bit closer since it's a 1949 Pontiac Chieftain.

    Stupid edmudns limited pixel format.

I think that is the new A6 sportback.
  • lokkilokki Member Posts: 1,200
I think Fintail is absolutely correct - the brass era IS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

    Here's the 1905 National

As for the 52 Chieftan turning out to be a 49..... Curses! Foiled again!

I was proud just to recognize the Chief Pontiac hood ornament, and the chrome runway on the hood....
  • hudsonthedoghudsonthedog Member Posts: 552
I thought it was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at first as well, but when I looked it up, it didn't look anythingn like the movie car.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
If you hadn't brought up the Pontiac hood ornament I would have. What a great piece of hardware!

    Triumph Stag, ca. 1974.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Ah I almost said A5 but thought A6 was right.

I hate these stupid alphanumeric naming conventions. I get the marketing idea behind them but I still think they are stupid.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,794
Plus, in the US, the A5 is a coupe...

Triumph Stag... we were in high school in the early-mid '70s, and thought the Stag was really cool...

But, boy.. are they the most un-loved model, ever?

It looks better than its BMW counterpart, anyway.

The dumbest names are the new BMW names, "Z4 sDrive35i"...cool!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
If I were to own a new Z4 those "S drive badges would come off pretty quick.

Looks like 22206 is a stumper. Here's a clue, it's an early 1950's Brit (looks a bit Italian and has an Italian model name along with a very English brand name.

    Targa Floria

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, in 1951 Franco Cortese won the Targa Florio in a Frazer-Nash beatig Ferrari and Maserati on their home turf. That was all the excuse they needed to name the slightly re-bodied F-N Mille Miglia, the "Targa Florio", just 13 were made from '52 to '54 with the Bristol-BMW 2 liter six.

    Ghia L6.4?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
You are hot today Stephen, about 26 of those were built by Chrysler and Ghia in '62, (twice as many as the 13 F-N Targa Florios that were made).

The 1962 Chrysler-Ghia L6.4 was a sort of coda to the Dual-Ghia saga., the protoype bore the Dual-Ghia logo.

BMW has by far the stupidest naming conventions for their models.

They have some of the stupidest models too so I guess that helps.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Ford Flex maybe an Ecoboost model.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,421
Are you saying the X6 isn't both practical and beautiful?

Yup, 355 HP!, the twin tailpipes are the giveaway it has the Twin-Turbo V6. I wish they'd offer a shortened "Sport" version with a TT Diesel.

"The metal panel on the hatch signifies this is a Flex Limited. The wide-spread dual exhaust tips indicate it has the turbo engine."

Inside Line says it's not actually a true dual exhaust, but it looks like one.
