You said it, 1956 was my favorite year for Mopars, the fins were just the right size and proportion. After '56 they kinda went nuts.

It is in the Windsor line. Chrysler turned out a couple of different 2-dr hardtops (IIRC Nassau and Newport) but I don't know which one it is. Oh, and love the color.

Yup that's a 1956 Chrysler Windsor Nassau
2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93
Those '56 Windsors are REALLY NICE cars. The fit and finish, the ride, the dash, interior, how it feels on the road---that car is significantly superior to your run of the mill domestic.
I was severely affected as a child by the fact that my sister's best friend's parents (say that 3 times quickly) had a Chrysler 4-door sedan (my fuzzy recollection would argue that it was a '55). That car just plain blew my little mind. That experience slightly mutated into a minor but persistent itch to have a '56 New Yorker 4-door hardtop. To my eye about as classy a car as that era produced.

And who else is old enough to have heard "I had a flat tire and I could not loosen those lug nuts on that Chrysler."?
Ok, not all Chrysler owners back then knew that the lug nuts on the driver's side of the car had to be turned clockwise to remove them.

mid '60s alfa spider. The term is boat tail.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
The 56 Chrysler was a nice car inside and out, and a good driver. Although I lean towards its bit sportier 55/56 Desoto partner. Sometimes I think 55/56 get overlooked because of the 57's. Styling wise, I think 1955 and 1956 was an excellent period for mid and upper range brands. The 55/56 Buick and Olds were stunning for the times. Even Mercury had some decent lookers. At the upper end, the Cadillac from that era stills stands as quite a stately vehicle. Lincoln puled away from Mercury and put out some clean looking models. The Imperial had some nice classic, and even a bit European touches, while I thought the last hurrah 55/56 Packards were also nice lookers, particularly the interiors.

Where's Mrs. Robinson?
Since we're being fussy about nomenclature it's a 1967 Alfa-Romeo Duetto Spider/1600 identical to "Benjamin Braddock's" ride in The Graduate but not to be confused with the 1980s version marketed as the Spider "Graduate".

I wish Alfa would bring in a car to the USA to compete with the Miata.
You're being facetious aren't you?
Fiat and Mazda are working together on the next Miata and Spider.
I was sorta--I wanted it with an Alfa badge (not!) and without a dual-clutch automatic or turbo engine. But it looks like Abarth gets the job (last I heard).
I'm not sure if the Mazda equivalent will be a turbo or not but at least it will have 3 pedals I'm sure.
I'm not sure why Fiat thinks people will pay a premium for the Fiat badge over the Miata version of the car.
I was hoping for the Alfa version so as to give people a way to break out of the Miata image if they so chose.

2 classics: A 66/67 Charger and an Orange Ariens.
No turn signal indicators on the fenders so 66.
I think you're off by a year, it was 1968 when the side marker lights and other stuff were first required. Explorer X4 is correct, that's a 1967 Dodge Charger/440. Looks like it could use a repaint or at least a good buffing.

I was writing about the turn signal indicators on top of the fenders. Going to the Hemmings web site one can see additional photos of the Charger including one showing the front of the car and the turn signal indicators on the top of the fenders making it a 67. The easiest way to differentiate a 66 Charger from a 67 Charger is seeing if it has the turn signal indicators on top of the fenders. I could not see them in the original photo posting.
OK I see you're talking about the fender top repeaters, once a common feature on cars of that day, they're analogous to the repeaters embedded in side mirrors now.

Yeah we know it's a 911 but this is a rare variant, only about 700 came to the USA.
2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93
A guess.. that it's a 1992 RS America, based on the 964 platform?

Here's an even rarer one, and worth about 1/3rd as much. (go figure).

Yup.

That looks a bunch like a mid 70s Porsche 911/930 Turbo but it is missing the scuff panel on the rear fender as on this car>
930s aren't commonplace but over 20,000 were made. You've got me on this one Shifty, if it isn't a 930 what is it?

I'm not a Porschefile but I do recall something called a Sunroof Coupe. Does that get us any closer?
Where's that pic from? Looks just like a car I saw a couple weeks ago:
Nope. You're all sniffing around that Porsche but haven't quite nailed it.
It's a 1980 "Weissach edition"--basically a 911 SC with special paint, wheels and interior. They only made 408 of them. And it is worth exactly 0 dollars more than a regular 1978-1983 911SC. Once again, rare does not equal valuable.
Were you at the Mecum Auction in Seattle where it pulled down $150K?
2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93
The rare diagonally striped 58 Buick Limited convertible.
Aha, that makes sense. It was in the showroom of a local specialty dealer who sends cars to that event. Is there a link to the auction results?
Also, well sold. 150K is healthy for something like that, even if it looked better than new in person.
it might cost 10 grand alone just to get the grill looking that perfect.

I'm not a big fan of 1958 styling but that one is actually quite nice looking; perhaps because the use of chrome is restrained for that year.
2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93
Ah yes. Proof that you could get a better looking, more upscale model by deleting some of the chrome that on the '58 Roadmaster. I was just a kid when the '58 Buick came out, but even then I knew this one was classier than the next lower ring RM, which was way over the top.

I certainly wouldn't pay that for a '58 anything and IMHO the $3.5 mil for a "Cuda is just brain dead, that's Gullwing money.
2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93
Interesting, lots of unsold lots, too.
For 3.5M I could get a gullwing and a 300SL roadster and maintain them for a very long time or maybe even build a nice garage for them.
well, if you are a collector of anything, there is going to be a holy grail out there. That happened to be it. Compared to that Cuda, Gullwings are run of the mill, available anywhere!
it is either speculation, or being so rich that you can afford the bragging rights. For any functional purpose, you could have spent 1/20th the price and had just as nice a car, just not as original And at least you could drive it.

A pun on Peugeot....correctly pronounced "PUH -JZOH. The 403 was a very nicely made car.
They used to call it the "French Mercedes".
