Yep, it's a 1989 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet/3.4 L, possibly the least collectible car Maranello ever made

Probably a Mondial "T" since it doesn't have fender flares. So, 1989-1992.

I've read that Mondials aren't bad to live with compared to other period Ferraris. Which makes sense, as they are a lot less complex.

Well they are naturally less complex than the 12 cylinder cars but the V8 and other components AFAIK would be the same as in the 308/328 cars of the era.

Looks like the Rambler pic is from an old 2011 post on CC. Even then some of the comments posted questioned the "too cheap" price.

1967 was the last year of the Rambler Rebel. It's not an AMC Rebel.

Not directly related, but as a kid a guy in our neighborhood had a red 57 Rambler Rebel 4 dr HT station wagon. It was a V8 (not sure if they were also available with the 6?). I always thought that car was kind of neat (and I think the wagon, let alone in HT version was a bit unusual even back then). I remember the guy had one of those hula dancer things on top of the dash. When I think of AMC in the latter 60's and 70's it is usually an AMX or Javelin, or one of those LAPD black and white cop cars. I think I once read that the Alabama State Police bought some Javelins in lieu of Mustangs, but the front wheel fender bulges held back the top speed and handling. Don't know the validity of that claim though.

New Yorker with those colors looks more late 70s so I'll go along with 1978.

Car pet peeve of mine... there was no “Town Car” until 1981.  The 70s barges were Continentals with a “Town Car” option.  I think the fact that probably 90% of them had the option (and fender badge) is where the confusion came from.

Here is one without it.  Note no fender “Town car” badge and no opera window in the C pillar.

That's true. We had three of them... all coupes. A '72 and two '76s. The black one pictured is a '77 or later, I think.

The coupes were called Town Coupe, rather than Town Car, but none of ours had that option. So, just Lincoln Continental. I don't remember the Mark IV having Lincoln anywhere on it.. Just, Continental Mark IV (but, my memory might have failed me on that one).

I had a 79 Town Coupe. It was pretty beat by the time I had it, but I loved that car.

This looks like an American Chevrolet Chevette - but I think it is different. And it is not a European Vauxhall / Opel version either.

Is it the later Brazilian Chevrolet Chevette ? They had an earlier one based on the German Opel Kadett grille etc, but I know they facelifted it and this one may be that later version.

Yup, that is a 1981 Chevrolet Chevette SL, made and sold in Brazil. The Chevette was such a dismal car, it's easy to forget that it was GM's "world car" designed for sale in many markets. It stayed in production from 1973-1994 in Brazil and until 1998 in Colombia.

When i visited Rio in '76 Chevettes were everywhere out numbered only by various VW models. I had occasion to rent one (in the US) and thought it was horrible, the worst car I've ever driven.

Magnette, IIRC all US Chevettes/T1000s were five-door hatchbacks.

23 HP at the rear wheels? Don't think RB could survive with that.

You guys know your Corvettes, the 1958 Corvettes had faux hood louvers and chrome strips
onthe trunk lid, neither feature was ever repeated. '58 was also the first year for 4 headlights, a feature that was repeated.

  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,414
I see two 59 Fords, the wagon up front and a Galaxie in the left background, a 52/53 Ford behind the policeman, and a 57 Ford on the right.

I can see two 59 Chevrolets - the first is in the middle distance between the "Herrin" truck and the right hand building, and on the extreme left above the oncoming Ford wagon there is just the edge of a black 59 rear - next to the GM with the white roof.
Also a 1960 Chevrolet going away from us ahead of the Dauphine.

The wagon by the cop is a Chevrolet too - is that a 53 with the inset round lights in the grille?

  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,617
