Sounds like the same issues I'm having. The dealer just tells me they're working on it.

I have an 07 EOS Lux, I am just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the stereo. I will be driving along and all of a sudden its like some one turns the bass to max and then some. But it only does it if the bass on the stereo is turned up to about 3/4 the way or more. Dont have the time right now to take it to the shop though. :confuse:

There is a TB issued for this and your dealer should be able to do a software update.
  • ou812_tuggerou812_tugger Member Posts: 2
What is a TB issue? And about how long does it take for them to fix the problem. i dont have alot of time to drop my car off at the shop for it is my daily driver and i need to for my commute to and from work. Thanks though for the info
  • flheatflheat Member Posts: 46
VW is aware of the issues and has issued a Technical Bulletin (TB 910804) to their dealers telling them how to fix it. I believe it is just a software download that should be able to be done in 15 minutes. The dealer will need to have a CD to fix it. Doesn't your dealer provide a loaner or a rental, or a shuttle to work? Also you can get more info about you Eos on the VWVortex.com forum than this forum.

    Here is the document: TB910804

Was your window problem ever completely fixed? I've been having the problem for the last year [since i bought my 2008 EOS last Feb] The car has been in the shop 6 times, mostly for the window problem but also for a leak in the trunk etc etc. The dealership just say's unable to duplicate problem. This week they changed out the door handles & when i picked up the car it did it in there parking lot. The dealership say's they do not know what the problem is but will just keep replacing things till it's fixed. Thanks for any info :lemon:???

I have not had a repeat problem of the window completely disappearing but I have had persistent problems with the windows (particularly the front passenger side) dropping and not coming back up or even dropping more than an inch rather than the quarter inch required. I took it to the dealer during my regular maintenance and they "could not duplicate the problem" but reset the computer. It worked for a day or 2 and then restarted. Because dealerships are not near my work I called another dealership to see if I could have the car looked at and they recommended a manual reset by, with the car off, dropping all the windows simultaneously and then raising them. Best done from outside with the key. Otherwise they suggested that it might be a problem with the window motor (since mine only affects my front passenger window). I tried this and have had no problems since, although I am ever mindful and check the windows all the time. This may explain why I have not had any problems during the warmer summer months where I have the top down so frequently that the simultaneous drop and raise of the windows happens on a regular basis.

I'd be interested in others opinions.

I've been having problems with Lurching/Surging. When I take my foot off the brake, the car lurches forward and is very jerky and noisy. Sounds like it's going to stall as well. Took it in to the Dealer and was diagnosed with a problem with the "Megatron Unit" This is the computer for the transmission. The part should be in between 5 - 7 days. I know that someone else had this problem. The car is still driveable, but the dealer termed it "Car Down". A rush has been put on the part. I hope this works because it's extremely annoying and embarassing driving a car that lurches at every stop sign and stop light, not to mention an uncomfortable ride. I wonder if my mileage is affected too?

Have not had that problem but I drive a manual, so I am not sure if the same thing applies. My previous VW had a similar problem but it was with the fuel injection system and was fixed with a recall.

I have recently noticed that my '07 EOS has scratches on the brushed aluminum trim that surrounds the cabin when the top is down. Specifically where the trunk meets the rear window when the top is up. I believe this was caused by the retractable top "grinding" into the top up position. I'm wondering if any other owners have noticed this and what your dealer did about it if anything.

I've had the leaks everyone talks about and actually knew about them before I purchased. After the first leak my dealership performed the sealant treatment and I've had it done several times since (all at VW expense) and have not experienced further leaking. I love my car.

Considering buying an EOS 2007 and wondering about the requirement to use Premium?
Have driven a supercharged Pontiac GTP over 140,000 miles on regular. Manual and gas tank label says Premium is required but never saw any difference in power or economy using more expensive Premium.

Seems like some serious problems discussed on this forum: water damage, etc.
    thanks, fortunare@cox.net

Has anyone had any experience fitting a tow bar to their EOS. I had one quote from a dealer that was nearly $3000. I then rung around a no of regular tow bar specialists but no one had ever fitted a tow bar to an EOS. I only want one for my bicycle rack. Had considered roof racks as an alternative with the very obvious drawback of not being able to drive with the roof down. Any suggestions? Thanks John
  • esellsesells Member Posts: 18
I read about a tow bar from UHaul that was only $150 bucks and you just needed to cut away a small area and most people were doing it themselves.
I restore old Schwinn bikes and damaged my trunk putting a bike in the back, the trunk lid is fiberglass, NOT metal so that is why I was looking for a mount. I am going to do it myself this spring.

Double check all the parts when the top won't go down, lots of problems with the trunk shelf, just set & reset a couple times. Also had a problem where the top goes 1/2 way down and stops. The little door on the driver side was sticking and didn't go all the way out, after popping it out it goes down, it's a pain but until I get it in the shop it works. Just double check that all the doors etc match (the one on the driver side was straight up and the other side was popped out.

Hi I have not read all the forum notices but has anybody had problems with a dead battery. This has happened 3 times over the last 6 months. The first time it affected the roof and was in the workshop for two days.
The car is a 2007 and has 31,000 miles on the clock.
My wife loves the car but does not trust it.
If anybody has had problems please let me know?
    Cheers

I just had the same prob, my 2007 was dead and I thought it was the cold in Denver so I charged it and it has not re-occured.
Hope something is not sticking on and draining, also have the error light, I hope it's the recall coil as the car runs fine but I don't want to kill it.
  • esellsesells Member Posts: 18
Were your car doors closed, if you want your trunk to open, you need to leave the door open or use the keychain to open the trunk, I think it's a safety measure to make sure you don't pop the trunk, then walk away to the bar leaving your car and valuable cheap OEM car tools open to theifs

Within 6 months of entering into our lease agreement with Volkswagen, the windows of the car would have dew & FROST on the INTERIOR of the car windows. We complained to our local dealership & “they could not duplicate the problem!” Time passed because of personal issues & we were unfamiliar with the "lemon law" & our rights.Recently the car which has under 14,000 miles, & which we have leased for 2 ½ yrs, has begun to get a really horrific, leaky, dewy, mildew problem.
Essentially, the vehicle STINKS! THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIX THIS PROBLEM.
Volkswagen Corporation also refuses to let us terminate our lease. We were forced to retain an attorney. We feel (@#$%^&*^%$) in every way!
They have offered us one lease payment towards compensation! It still doesn’t fix the problem or even pay for the gas which was spent on SIX trips
bringing it to the dealership for repair.. Nor does it even NEARLY address the REAL problem: THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE FIXED!
They are in breach of warranty for sure; they will not talk to us; they won’t fix the car; they can’t fix the car; they won’t let us out of our lease; they are
for sure breaking numerous consumer protection laws—but still—they are a big & powerful company & we, only peons, idiots, who keep making payments
for a car that we'd love to see the CEO of Volkswagen spend 15 minutes gagging in! We'd GLADLY pay for THAT! If we refuse to pay the lease, our credit gets shot & we get hit with all kinds of fees & finance charges! Why is this fair or right? Honest, hard working people, just trying to find justice & get a fair response in regard to what we have paid so dearly for.
    Can anyone help?

The latest news on our EOS is that if we do not lock the car the NEW battery will go flat?? My wife forgot to LOCK the car which sits in the garage on Friday at 6:00 pm and tried to start the car on Monday morning at 7: am and the battery was dead. The dealership told her they cannot find any problem with the car. So for all of you out there with an EOS do not forget to lock this car as it is very hungry and loves to eat the power from the battery.
PS My Mercedes is parked out in the snow and the cold is 4 years older than the EOS and has the original battery from new but starts every time plus I leave it unlocked. Go Figure

    Dear Eos owners,
I am currently interested in getting an Eos. Its a 2007, 19,000 miles, white, leather interior car. I've read about some of the issue concerning water leakage, and battery issues. I really luv this car, and have wanted a convertible since I was a kid! Do u think I should buy it for the price of 22,969 (which i will ask them to lower it to at least 19,500 or 20,500)??

Im suppose to meet with the dealership today in fairfax, va....any advice is appreciated, what should i do? or ask the dealer?

    Thank u!

Don't do it..I have a 2007 EOS with 63K love the car but just found out cylinder 1 & 3 are full of oil, may need a new engine!!!
  • max273dmax273d Member Posts: 2
My 2007 engine is bad already at 63K, it's been leaking fluid in small amounts (less than a dime size puddle) near the passenger side wheel, the dealership told me cylinders 1 & 3 are full of oil and the turbo has oil in it also. I drive this car to and from work round trip 50 miles per day 5 days a week. How could the engine blow at such an early age?? I've have minor problems from the windows to the DGR trans.which now has an extended warranty, the car is now out of warranty and probably costs me a small fortune to fix. Do I keep it or trade it in? Has another else had these problems?
  • boomer108boomer108 Member Posts: 4
I too have a 2007 EOS (petrol) it has done 61,000 kms and I have had no problems whatsoever - no leaks, no engine problems nothing and I absolutely love my car. I hope it stays that way. At such a cheap price and such low mileage I'd go for it. Cheers John from downunder

Did you find a resolution to this issue? I have a 2007 VW EOS and it is doing the same thing. I'm not sure what to do at this point, as the gas tank is empty...and during my prior fill there wasn't a hint at anything being wrong with the door :(

I have a 2008 Eos with 34k miles. I've only had it for about 2 months and the brakes are squealing. It only seems to happen after it's been sitting awhile. Any advice or info would be appreciated. let me know if it's something as simple as brake fluid that I can do myself or a more involved, mechanic only issue.

    Thanks.
  • tjcigartjcigar Member Posts: 8
I too have an issue with my Eos rolling forward or backwards, which is even worse of course on an incline. I use the parking brake but how can that be used while I'm stopped at a light? Once you take the brake off, it rolls anyway so I don't see how that's a real solution. It only works when the car is parked. I'm afraid to roll back into someone behind me.

Does switching to manual help the sitch? I don't imagine it would because I use to drive a manual and had the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

It took my 2007 Eos I've had for 6 months into the dealership today for this same problem. They did a thorough inspection and found no problems, and told me it was due to friction between the break pads and rotors that causes brake dust to accumulate. He asked if it only lasts for a short time when I drive the car in the morning, which I confirmed. He assured me it's not a problem, which I'm inclined to believe since my car is under warranty for 4 yrs / 30K more miles. Good luck.
  • tjcigartjcigar Member Posts: 8
Thanks! Good to know. Yes it does only occur when the car has been idle overnight and I start it up in the morning. One mechanic suggested that the car is cold and it won't happen at a warmer temp after driving around.

My wife bought a new 2007 eos at 9000 miles we had to replace the stock tires (Pirelli's) $600. plus we were on the road again only to have to replace them at 28000 miles another $600 plus. At 32,000 a new set of piston rings because of masive oil consumption. Once again we are replacing tires at 39,000 miles, now just before anyone says its an alignment problem do'nt go there. Tires are worn perfectly even and the alignment has been check by the dealer its bang on. My wife drives like my 92 year old mother very very slow.
We have gotten no where with the dealer to solve the problem and it seems they are afraid to go to bat for us with VW. I would entertain buying a new one if they would give me a fair deal. there is no way at 39,000 miles we should be having these problems. I had a number of new cars makes and models and have never been through anything like this.

Hmm, strange - maybe its the slow driving that's the cause :). I have done over 95,000 Km with my 2007 EOS and have only replaced 2 tyres so far.
  • tjcigartjcigar Member Posts: 8
I am convinced now that there's something to the adage, don't buy the first couple of years of a new model ANYTHING. I've seen a lot of complaints on here re: 2007 Eos, I've also seen some ppl saying that they have no problems with theirs. It's risky. I have a 2008 and I have some of the minor quirky problems that people are talking about but thank God nothing major so far. I will be trading mine in a couple of years for a 2010 and hope to God most of these problems have been ironed out by VW. Otherwise, mechanically, it's a great driving machine and a good motor, just needs the smaller, technical things taken care of, i.e. rubber seals leaking water, tires squealing, etc. although I do understand that many of you have had major costly things wrong. I'd love to hear from ppl with newer models?????

I am looking at a 2007 VW EOS which is in great condition with a good price to match. My concerns are are the colder temps. in Atlanta during the winter and the "rain leakage" issue. I have also been told that the turbo uses a great deal of oil. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hello, I am trying to figure out if I should purchase this vehicle. I went into my local VW dealer and saw this Eos sitting in the lot and I absolutely loved it. I asked for a carfax report and the maintenance records and I found some interesting things. Upon further investigation from this website I found some of the same minor problems in this vehicle that was repairs they are as follows:

at about 5,000 the previous owner had a faulty window regulator replaced on the front passenger side
at about 20,000 miles the vehicle started to run rough but the vw mechanics didn't find anything wrong, but did find the low fuel pressure sensor was faulty and replaced it
also at about 21,000 they replaced the a/c pollen filter
at 23,000 there was an 03 recall??
at 27,000 completed an 05 Recall?? replaced sensor
at 30,000 battery had to be replaced
at 31,000 crankcase breather valve was replaced
at 31,500 replaced driverside window regulator and found noise rattling to be fuel line in door, part had to be ordered
at 35,000 roof started to leak from pillars had resealling work done
at 40,000 convertible top stopped working had to perform battery midtronics test found low voltage repaired also replaced spark plugs
at 43,000 squeal found in engine, found drive belt tensioner was replaced also replaced ignition coils

also it seemed that everytime the previous owner went to take it in for an oil change it was $100 is that typical? I'd love some answers on this before making a desicion to buy it. They want $20,000 for it.

    Thanks!

I just purchased my 2008 Eos 6 mos ago. I have to be honest, from reading the list of repairs done, at least half of them were unnecessary according to my knowledge of Eos so far. Beyond the top not working, which I've heard a 100 x on this forum, and the battery being replaced, the deal was just taking advantage of previous owner. All of the other things are typical Eos issues that I've had to one degree or another. The car rides rough, engine does not sound smooth, no oil issues, if you start screwing around with the car, it just makes minor issues worse. my pillars leak but only in hard rain storms such as recent hurricane, this car needs to be babied, kept garaged in inclement weather, hand washed if possible, premium gas, etc. Do not let a mechanic take advantage of you if you decide to buy this. I have to say though, 20k is too much for a 2007. that's what I paid for a 2008, looks like any major issues have been repaired, I'd buy it if the body's good and he comes down on price.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with a power drain when the doors are left unlocked? If so, what was the cause? :confuse:
I've been encountering this problem since Jan 7 when the dealership replaced the batteries in my 2007 EOS VR6. They've had my car at the dealer for two weeks every month since that time and they have yet to deteremine where the draw is coming from!
Its painful to own a convertable at this time of year & not be able to use it!!!

I'm looking for a charger/mounting device for my Samsung Galaxy II that mounts directly into the outlet in the center console of my '07 Eos.
