Mostly I think because the back seat has a nice recline and that pulls his knees back a little. He also said he had more foot room than in say... the mini convertible, which was my choice until I found the Eos.

Here is a link to detailed information about the Eos.

    http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsID/2060502.004/page/1/lang/eng/country/- gcf/volkswagen

Once again they reiterate it is positioned between the Golf and Passat. That and pricing in England and Germany suggests a starting price below $28,000. The Eos has great standard equipment, so I do not see the need for options much beyond DSG and leather. If you want to pay more, it looks like VW will oblige. I am sure that you can load this thing up well into the $40,000's, but I will take mine with the 2.0 Turbo FSI, DSG and leather for just over $30K and put my money to better use, such as my kids' college fund.

In Europe it arrives this month and my local VW dealer says they will have at least 2 in stock by July.
  • autoboy16autoboy16 Member Posts: 992
:surprise: WOW 2! Thats 2 more than I thought would be here before august! Well for the other couple thousand thousand waiting should also check their local dealer. The passat wagon is just showing up around her. So no surprise if the eos shows up here in spring of 2007 :(.

Damn...if this is priced in the low 30s, i may wait for it to come out..i was going for the mustang gt convertible..maybe the price on this will be the same?
  • muggo11muggo11 Member Posts: 2
I have a deposit down--will test drive the 2.0 for kicks which is supposed to arrive in June but think I'll wait for manual V6 in the fall. My dealer said it will probably be in the high 30s. . . But she drove it at a workshop/training and said it was a blast. My 99 Passat's dashboard electronics just went kerplooey so I'm anxious. Fortunately here in Orlando I can drive a convertible pretty much year round!
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
will there be any such thing as a manual V6?? They don't have that combo on any current VW, correct? If you want a stick, you have to get the 2.0. Am I wrong?

I think the V6 will have the DSG tranny which is a manual so to speak.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
    OH NO!
Let's not start on that topic. ;)

A DSG or SMG are neat designs, but they ain't no manual. For the same reason my Lincoln with the SST shifter isn't a manual.

Then again, maybe the poster WAS referring to the DSG and improperly termed it a manual tranny. If nothing else, and if we want to name it somehow in this manner, I'd call it a semi-manual.

  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Oh I agree that it is not a real manual but of all the manuals that have had a clutch pedal amputation in think the DSG is the best one.

    Prices

Kinda steep. Me, I'd take a Mustang convertible.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
let's not forget we're talking hardtop convertible here.

$28k seems GREAT to me. 2 liter turbo, manual tranny, and power everything will be included in that price, so I can't complain. I think its a pretty good buy compared to its limited competition at this point.

$28K base? Amazingly low.. I think I even predicted that the typical model would sticker for $35K (which may still end being close to reality)...

If they have the Eos for sale anywhere near $30K, they will sell all they can import... (another brazen prediction...lol)

at $28K, it's a deal especially compared with the Solara and G6 convertibles, both of which look far more mainstream than the Eos. The Solara has a cloth roof, and the G6 is well... A G6. What more can I say?
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Exactly the Roof on the G6 looks pretty slick but the driveline is typical GM so it will be boring and uninspiring.

Here's hopefully some answers to questions. Eos will have either 3(0r 4) basic starting packages starting at 27,990. There will be a luxury package and a sport package. Add about $3600 for either. Dynaudio sound package about $1000. Xenon headlamps will be part of a Technology package at $1400 available on V6 only. V6 will have only DSG automatic (at least that is what info my salesman has), Colors are yet to be released but conjecture has it there will be a Paprika Red, Eismeer Blue, Black, White, and a Silver. An Eos with V6 will be about $37,000 plus options. Deliveries with be around Labor Day. Dealers will be getting A demo car in July with sales around Labor day. They will take a deposit but you will get a pretty much generic order page. Some items are not yet confirmed.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Xenons on 6 cylinder only is a mistake but other then that and the slightly higher, maybe 1,500 higher, then I had anticipated it seems ok.
  • biancarbiancar Member Posts: 965
Interesting. It's not going to be all that much less than the Volvo. A reasonably equipped C70 will run about $41 - $42k with an automatic, less than that with a manual. So maybe about 10% difference in cost. Wonder if the Eos will pick up the folks who see $40,000 as a budgetary stop line.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
well, you're talking for a V6 with lots of standard options. Personally, I think that trumps the C70. The 2.0t will be closer to the C70 in performance, I believe. I guess we'll see when they can actually be compared, though.

For those who don't want all the standard options of the C70, the $28k VW is going to fit the bill nicely and a HUGE price difference.

  • biancarbiancar Member Posts: 965
...the dealers will stock it at that price! I wouldn't be surprised to see that most cars arrive at the dealers with several thousand dollars' worth of options.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
Someone that is determined to get a base model Eos could always special order one.
  • pgnimkoffpgnimkoff Member Posts: 1
Eos has been my sister's nick-name for me since early 70's; shouldn't this [at least] warrant a test drive of the convertible?
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
Probably. You should also get a license plate, upon registration of your new VW Eos, that reads: IM EOS2 (I'm Eos too) or something like that.
  • jaysashjaysash Member Posts: 7
Oh man I am really anticipating the Eos. It is supposed to be around $30k right? That would put it head to head with the G6, and I would bet that the Eos will take that battle. The car looks great. I hear mid summer release. Late July for the Eos. I think when this releases it will be the only luxury hardtop convertible around $30k no?

Does anyone have a date that the Eos will have a minisite or be in the regular model line-up?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
well, it has a page now on the site.

    not much info, though.

I saw that page, but I want the full blown information. I feel like once it is released onto the website then there are definately no changes.
  • oooahoooah Member Posts: 3
Has anyone put a deposit on an Eos? If so, how much? When have they told you it will arrive? Were you able to pick colors and options? I am very interested in an Eos but don't want to go to the dealer until I have the facts straight. I have to break the news to my husband first about price and everything. Thanks.

  • flheatflheat Member Posts: 46
I put $1000 deposit down a few months ago. I think that is pretty standard. I gave them a list of everything that I wanted (at that time I was able to get the options from the British VW Website). I am basically buying the car at "Market Price", which means that can rape me if they want, but I am hoping that won't be the case.
  • heymjoheymjo Member Posts: 8
Does anyon eknow when the 3.2 Eos is supposed to arrive? I think only the 2.0 is coming in in September.
  • burghburgh Member Posts: 17
Does anyone know when the Eos will get full coverage as a current model on the VW USA website?

That one dinky page that they have now in the new section just does not cut it. I want to be able to build and price.

When will it happen, if anyone knows please tell us all.

    Thank you.
  • cb391cb391 Member Posts: 24
If you are looking for pricing/build info, go to www.vwvortex.com and select forums and the vw page and then the Eos area. Someone has posted pricing and options. I ordered my Eos 2weeks ago and the info was the same as the dealers had. VW will put Eos on their site at some point, but probably not soon. Eos will hit the dealers in September with the 2.0 and October-December on the 3.2. There is only supposedly 15,000 available for the U.S. for the year. VW is making 45,000 total per year for the whole world. Dealer cars supposedly coming this month which is almost over.

For some reason, i had a hard time tracking this down, so I'm posting the link here to save others some time.

now that we can refer to it ... anyone able to help me figure out what the difference is between the base price and 2.0T base price??

It costs $2k more just for the privilege of adding options?? I'm very confused.

    ************************
edit: in a post i found elsewhere, someone claims these are the upgrades between the $27,990 and $29,990 cars.

    - Small leather pack: Leather Steering Wheel, Hand Brake, and Shifter
    - Rear Wind Screen (Wind-blocker)
    - Dual Temp Zone Climatronic
    - Center Arm Rest
    - Trip Computer
    - Heated Front Seats and Washer Nozzles
    - Automatic Headlights
    - 12-way Power Driver's Seat
    - the ability to get DSG and the other options

Hmmmm... tough call. $2k is alot just to get the power seat I would probably require.

also, I'm pretty sure the car rag I have at home claims the latest news is that heated seats would be standard.

I am going to have to call down to our VW dealer and see what they are leasing at.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
    lemme know. :)

I'm sure its not worth leasing just yet. MF would be high, and with no sales history, the residual is probably set low.

After my discussion with the local dealer over a diesel Jetta a few months ago, I'm betting you might find it cheaper to finance the Eos.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
MF is going to be stupid high but residual might be ok. I am just looking for a baseline to see what it shakes out too.

I might get one for my wife in say December/January.

I won't feel bad making our VW dealer give me the car at invoice if it is january and snowing. I wouldn't want to do that to them on a car with limited allocation during prime convertiable season.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
Just over $35K with DSG and luxury package... Which I'm guessing is how most will be equipped....

I'd take it over the C70 or the A4 convertibles, especially with the price being an easy $5K or more less...

I'm not sure I understand the luxo pack. If the one poster was correct and the $29,990 model comes with the power driver's seat and bun warmers, then the luxo pack only adds leather, wood, a steering wheel with buttons, power passenger seat, and upgraded stereo for $3500. That's ALOT of money for those features.

The upgraded stereo is a standalone option for $550, so that leaves leather, wood, and a power passenger seat for $3k! No thanks!

I'm pretty sure I'd just be interested in the $29,990 model with the $550 stereo. That's it. Of course, that would probably mean a special order, I'm sure.

oh, sorry. The luxo also includes different wheels. It might help if I knew what the standard wheels are, but I typically don't care to get factory upgraded wheels unless the standards are steelies with plastic caps. ;)

The dealer here has an EOS with the Sports PKG and the seats are very comfortable. Have any of you compared the Comfort Seats in the Luxury PKG to the Sports Seats and would you please tell me your opinions on the difference? TIA

I want to my VW dealer in Ft. Lauderdale today and drove the 2.0 Turbo EOS. I really want a V6 and received conflicting info from various salesmen about when VW will ship/make available the V6 version. Does anybody know for sure if they will be available in the fall of 2006?
