VW does offer a 10K mileage allowance; 36/10 numbers as follows:

SEL Coupe - .00135 and 55%. $250 lease cash.
SEL 'Vert - .00155 and 58%

Hi, I just got a lease quote for 2017 beetle S.
MSRP 21,085
Selling price 18,495
36mo/10K
$274.23/m plus tax and 0 down payment.

The final number is much higher than I thought.
What do you think?

.00135 MF and 55% residual. $250 lease cash

If nothing else is added to the selling price, I get $232/mo.+tax.

The difference is about $1400.
$625 acquisition fee.. and, what else? DMV/doc fees?

Ask them for the adjusted CAP cost, and ask for an accounting of the difference between that and the sale price.

Thank you for response. The adj CAP cost is 19,615, and MF is 0.00165

I believe these two numbers explain why monthly payment is so high.

I'll try to get them lower, and of course get more quotes from other dealers.

Regarding the marked up MF, be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal if it's inflated. They know what the base rate is.

Hi- I got quoted for a 2017 Beetle SEL Coupe Lease (3 yr, 10k) and would like to know if what I received is reasonable for this time of year?

I've got good credit (760 score)

Negotiated the price to $24,300

They came back with 53% residual ($14,200) and money factor of .0023 (5.5% -- is this kind of high?)

Ending monthly payment at $399 + tax.

Just trying to figure out if the Money Factor is reasonable?

Is the extra .00050 typical for dealers to markup the rent charge? Sales person said it was set by VW. So rent charge is around 4.3% and they can bump it up to 5.5%? Is this typical for the car?

Typical for the car? No

Typical for the dealer? Likely. It's a way to make more money on the deal.

If I use $22,300 as the cap cost (selling price - $2k down), I get $309/mo plus tax. Long way from $399/mo. And, that's with the higher MF in my calculations.

Ask the dealer what the $2000 is going to - perhaps not all of it is going to down payment.

And, ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - and how they got to that number from the negotiated price.

I did a lease calculation for beetle se msrp: $23270
Used truecar price that I will try to negotiate a good price: which gives me $20973. Used MF: 0.00180 and Residual 52%. 

Assumed documentation will cost around $700 and applied $2000 down with $500 college grad and came up to around ~255 before tax.

Does my calculation look right and is it possible to lease around this price range?

So, you added $700, then subtracted $2500?

If so, I get $253/mo.+tax

Acquisition fee is $625.
You'll have DMV fees. Not sure where you live but $700 for doc fees seems excessive

Yeah I added 700 for doc cause I dont really know how much that will cost (just put it high)

subtracted $2500 for 2000 down and 500 lease cash.

If leasing, pick a different vehicle.

You are giving the dealer $4000 up front, or just $2500, of which $1500 is fees and such?

We do not recommend a down payment on a lease, and we also suggest you add the acquisition fee and dealer doc fee into the monthly payment as well.

It will increase your payment but reduce your up front cash to just the first month and DMV fee. The other up front monies would be at risk (i.e, you won't get it back) if the car is stolen or totaled.
