Looks like the acquisition fee is waived for the new Compass in July for leases of 24-39 month terms.

I picked up my Compass limited on Saturday and was not aware that the acquisition fee was waived for July. Needless to say the dealer never mentioned it. Is the waiver stated anywhere? I would like to show the dealer and see if I can get me acquisition fee refunded to me as I put that cost up front.

The waived acquisition fee is valid only for leases through Chrysler Capital. If your lease is funded through Ally or US Bank you'll have to pay their acquisition fee.

Hmm, then I believe you've got a good case to get that money back.

Politely talk with the finance manager who wrote up your deal, and see what can be done.

Don't be surprised if they want to offer you parts and service credit instead of a check.

They are not amenable to doing anything about it as I did not structure my deal well. I generally put the acquisition fee down as a part of my upfront costs along with the first month. They are claiming that was used as a cap cost to reduce my payment as my lease shows no acquisition fee on it. The original lease deal was based on June's lease numbers where the $695 was used to offset the June bank fee. Now they are saying its just a cap cost reduction. I'll give a try with the finance guy but I think its going to be a losing argument.

So they waived the acquisition fee (which they should have done), then took the money you thought you were giving them for that fee and used it as cap reduction?

Shady, but probably nothing wrong with it, as you signed the paperwork.

Good luck with the finance manager; if the dealer wants to keep you as a happy customer, they might be willing to restructure the deal.

Sales manager called to inform me that there was no bank fee from Chrysler in June either and that I was not charged one. Not sure how I can verify that but that seems to be the end of it.

It's possible they are correct. We'd have to see a copy of the numbers to verify it.

Looking for advice please. Looking in MA at a 2017 Compass Trailhawk with MSRP of $30,980. For sign and drive, $0 down with taxes, fees, etc. included, the original quoted price was $361/mo for 39/12K lease. After some conversation they offered $299/month for same terms. I have friends and family and competitor lease deals to help, but this appears low?

the last paper i saw was $28,480. They wouldn't show anything other than writing down the details of monthly payment, $0 down, and all taxes/fees included.

Oh, MSRP 30,170, cap cost 24,831, acq fee 695. 3 years, 12K, $0 down, acq fee rolled in the lease...I'm getting $270/month including 10% PA tax. They're saying $289 somehow (MF mark up obviously).

he said they use US Bank and not Chrysler Financial...and that bank gives $4K rebate vs $1750 thru Chrysler, but with a higher MF, which still ends up being cheaper...I've never heard of this,

Yes, 3rd party banks like US Bank have different numbers (usually worse), but offset that with big rebates. The payment often ends up cheaper than with a Chrysler Capital lease.

We only have numbers from Chrysler Capital.

Yes, US Bank and Ally tend to have larger incentives.

No clue what will happen to the numbers, next month. Be advised that support for the 2017's will end eventually. We just don't know when that will be.
