Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here but to be clear:

They're offering me the lease w/ 12K miles at $356/month and 10K miles at $348/month. Are you saying that you think if they're willing to give me the 12K miles with Navi for $383/mo, that they should be willing to give me the non Navi car for $345/mo with 12K miles? The Nav comes out to $972 for 3 years, not $1400.

I get all confused because how to I back that price up if I approach the dealer? They gave me the price after they took into account my trade in, taxes, etc. So I don't know how they worked out all the numbers to come up with a price.

That's okay.. . we drag that old nag out everyday, and give it a good whippin'.. :)

The difference between NAV and non-NAV should be $38-$40/mo. on a typical TSX lease... given everything else is equal.

Now.. maybe this dealer is willing to take a skinnier deal to move a particular NAV unit.... or, maybe they sense that is the car you really want, and they are pushing hard to get you to make the deal. It is hard to tell.. As you said, with your trade, taxes, fees, etc.. it's hard to separate exactly what is what.. and, it's hard to know this dealer's particular motivation..

If they say the difference is $27/mo., and it's worth it to you... then go for it... assuming all other amounts are the same...

If you really want the NAV, then my opinion is not really important, right? I'm the same guy that is yelling at his kid to get off the cell phone, when we have free minutes on the landline, sitting right next to him.. ;)

Either way... the TSX is a great lease deal, right now... With or without NAV..

    regards,
    kyfdx

I got a quote for 36 month lease on TSX w/o Navi.

    1st payment $500, monthly lease amount $335.
    These include tax and everything.

Then I got a quote for 24 month lease on same vehicle.

    1st payment $500, monthly lease amount $383.

Since I am leaning toward 24 month lease, can anyone tell me if this 24 month price right compared to 36 month lease price?
BTW, what is residual value for 24 month lease deal?

I would appreciate any input. I am in NJ.

Why would you not want the third year for $235/month?
  • pppvallipppvalli Member Posts: 1
Seems like a good deal Where in NJ di you get that price?

I just might have to move cross continental in 2 years. Also, soon to be full model change made me want to go for 24month lease. Anyway I'm pretty much satisfied with the deal. Here is the deal detail.

    24month lease, 10k/yr

    Sticker $28,190 + Destination $715 = $28,905
    Residual Value $19,366

    1st Payment $500
    Monthly Payment $376.53

These payment include all tax, fees and etc.

LOL! You have been so helpful. I finally ended up getting the Navi b/c they lowered it to $18 a month. Terrible waste of money, I know, but it's a fun toy and I figure I better do it now before I have the kids. ;) Thanks for all the advice, I'm very grateful.

Tonight I went to Acura of Ocean to check out the $299 a month lease with $1,499 down. After speaking with the salesman he gives me an outrageous $2,995 down and $319 a month. He came to this figure for tax, tags, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember including a down payment. It looks like after speaking with the Sales Manager that I got them down to $1,499 + first month. So approx $1,900. and $315 a month. After reading on here though I see that some people are paying no down payment at all?? Just wondering where I can still get them. I don't want or need navigation. The sticker was $28 and change. I spoke with a friend who is a former Acura salesman from that dealer and he said that they don't need the first months payment. Can I actually get the "Factory offer" of $1,499 down and have the payments still be the same. Also, can they incorporate the tax in the actual monthly payment. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi all,

Am looking into the advertised Lease Special on Acura.com:
$299.00 per month for 36 months. $1,499.00 total due at signing.

    I'm shooting for a non-nav, 6sp TSX.

Has anyone here taken advantage of the Special in the Boston area? So far I've hit Berndari and Herb Connolly and had bad experiences at each. Was mauled with unhelpful sales guys at Bernardi and completely ignored at Connolly. Resorting to email to get solid numbers at this point since they would only talk in circles at Bernardi.

How close to the above stated numbers will the final quote be? Thanks all!

I got the following deal in WI on Acura TSX 2008 base model without navigation.

    24 month/12 K year
residual at the end of 2 year period is $ 19,057
1 pay lease of 9 K ( includes sales tax, registeration, licence plates, etc)

would this be a good deal? What factors do I need to look at if I need to get out of the lease say after 12 months?

    Thanks
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
    Hello,

I would not advise you to pay the lease in full, I would keep the 9k in the bank, and pay the payments. After 12mths if you needed to get out of the lease, your option would be to trade it in, perhaps taking a slight hit with being upside down, or sell it privately. But, you could totally get out, as opposed to paying it in full, and your money being dumped into it, getting someone to take over the lease.

If you happen to get in a wreck than you would lose that 9k.
The leases right now are very good on the TSX, work on the sale price, that way you'll be better off in the end. Do a $0 down lease, and you'll have a great car, with minimal funds attached to the car.

    Pete,

The $299 per month lease with $1,499 total due at signing ($605 capitalized cost reduction, $299 first month's payment, $595 acquisition fee) is very strong. The residual based on 36 months with 10,000 miles per year is quite strong at 58% and AHFC's Super Preferred money factor is amazing at 0.00035 (0.84% interest rate)! Most dealers should be willing to meet the nationally advertised pricing. If you need any more help, please feel free to email me.
  • eights38eights38 Member Posts: 145
mojo1981 - I agree with bvd unless your credit is poor and you cannot lease a vehicle. If your credit is in good shape, take the $9,000 and put it in a CD or high yielding money market account and earn interest on your capital. The lease interest rate is 0.84% - unbelievably low. Take advantage of this offer!
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
Prepaying a lease at that low rate is worse than pointless. Just make payments.

I was at Fountain Auto Mall here in Orlando, FL. I'm looking to take advantage of the current special on the TSX. I'm new to leasing so I'm learning alot during this experience. After reading some of this forum I decided no money down was what I should do because I would be renting the car and money given in is a loss. Anyway here is what they are offering me:

    2008 Acura Base w/o Nav
    36mth term/ 12k mi year

    MSRP: $28,890
    Sales Price: $27,200
Cost Reduction $ 709.58 - dlr contribution since supposed to be due at start
Adds- $595 Acq fee, $598.50 dlr fee, $207 tag, $90.50 init fees and $856.23 tax
    Adjusted Cap Cost: $28,393.50
    MF: .00035
    Residual $16,475.85 = 57%
    Tax rate: 6.5%

    They are giving me a $346.75/mo w/ $22.54 tax

    Total: $369.29/mo

I want them to cut out Dlr fee and acq fee- I think this is alot monthly for this car.
What do you guys think? Also one thing I dont understand is the tax. I think Im being double taxed- monthly and initially...does that make sense?
  • kilnkiln Member Posts: 41
I also went to Fountain Auto Mall and received a similar quote (don't have exact figures). Good luck on getting them to cut the dealer fee. Central Florida fees are ridiculous!

I have no idea what the $856.23 tax is. :confuse:
  • daverich18daverich18 Member Posts: 3
I generated an excel spreadsheet and input the calculations myself. (quite easy to do and lays everything out for you) Anyway, was able to see that they added back the cost to them since I was doing a no money down deal. From what they told me, there is a $709.58 charge that should come from me- but since I was doing no money down, that cost was on them. On paper it shows that $709.58 was taken out of the price bringing my sales price to $26,490.42. BUT, on the spreadsheet I noticed that something was not adding up, something that I could not see. Using a calculator, what do ya know...the difference was exactly $709.58 added in the adjusted cap cost. I calculate a $356 payment with that additional fee taken out and a $339 just taking out the acq fee- dont mind the dlr fee. $339 is exactly the deal I want. Off to FAM bright and early. Hopefully this deal gets done!

They quoted me $398/mo for 36mo with $600 down for the 08 TSX w/nav. I was still thinking about it. A week later they called me back because I really wanted a black one and the only black one they have has the body kit added to it (which I really didn't need for $1700 more). They offered me $403/mo with $600 down for the black 08 TSX w/nav and the body kit (total of $180 more) This is with 10k mi/year. They said I've only got until the end of the month to get it with this money factor. How can I tell what the residual and the selling prices are? Does the body kit add or take away anything from the residual. I do plan on buying at the end of my lease and I will probably have about 14k mi/yr. Should I worry about the 10k mi/yr? Do they usually quote these prices in before tax terms or after tax?
Let me know your thoughts, It's my first lease.

cassandra999 - Where do you live? I wouldn't wait too long because the aggressive lease rates will likely change in February. Your payment seems a bit high.

If you need more help, please email me or reply.
  • cassandra999cassandra999 Member Posts: 7
Ohio. Yes the payments seem high compared to other posted leases on this forum. I'm worried about the body kit too. I don't want to be paying more for the body kit if I'm likely to damage it then have to pay to fix it.

I leased a 08 NAVI this past Saturday. TSX Inventory is getting low. Dealers are no
longer receiving 08's. So get em while you can.
    Got a good deal.

    08 w/navi
    My deaL:
358.00 per month for 36 months
sign and drive. No money down.

    It's January.
Why would they not get any more 2008s? Is the 2009 redesign coming really soon?
  • matthaneymatthaney Member Posts: 29
Why no more 2008 models?....... becuase 2009 models are due out in early April. Redesign to be bigger like TL. Honda is trying to get rid of their 2008 models hence the special lease rates. And no dealers won't be getting more of the 2008 models. What they have is what they are goind to get and deplete.

I am thinking about the national deal ($299/mo, 36 month, 10k/yr, 605 cap cost, 16765 res) but the ad say on 5sp auto. Will I be able to receive this deal on a 6sp MT? Will the dealer "deal" more? ie, no cap cost and maybe 12 or 15k per year for $299?
  • kimmyvkimmyv Member Posts: 1
I just leased a 2008 Acura TSX 6MT no-nav for 36 months, 12K miles/yr with a down payment of $1,860.00 ($1,499.00 down plus first month's payment) from Prime Acura in East Walpole, MA. $324/month includes tax, title, registration, etc. (doesn't include excise tax). I think they offered $314/month for 10K miles. Good luck!

I am thinking about going tomorrow to Morande (then Schaller, then Executive) and and trying for the following on a 2008 6 sp MT no navi: $299 per month, 15k miles; no cap cost.
Any chance or am smoking something? Then national deal is $299/mo, 19k and 605 CC on the 5sp auto.
    thanks

Has anyone leased a TSX with NAVI recently? If so, i just wanted to get an idea of what people are paying and the terms of the lease (ie: months, miles, drive off, etc).

    Thanks!

Does anyone know what the money factor for Prefered tier for January was?
I got a quote for a TSX w/ Nav. for $424/mo. it just seemed like a lot. I need to get more info from the dealer on the price.

wow - where are you located and where did you get it from?
  • cassandra999cassandra999 Member Posts: 7
I'm planning on buying after i lease. what are your thoughts on residual value vs. mileage/year? What sort of residuals are you guys getting with what mileage rates? I'd like to buy at end of lease thus clearing any over mileage fees. If I lease for 10k now and pay lower monthly payments, will I get screwed with the residual after 3 years? or if i lease for 15k now, then have a lower residual after 3 years? What is going to save me more? I probably would have 14k-15k mi/yr.
  • cassandra999cassandra999 Member Posts: 7
Ok, I've got more info from the dealer but it still doesn't add up to me.
    Black Navi w/body kit
    Security Deposit Waived
    595 acq. fee
    32659 sticker
    28802.14 sales price
    .00104 MF
    17672.85 residual price
    10k mi/yr

I live in ohio so thats 6.75% sales tax
they quoted $424.16/mo if i put 750 down
    or $429.21/mo if i put 600 down.

Does that add up to you? Is there something I'm missing? It still seems like too much $ when I add it up.
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] ColoradoPosts: 0
It does seem a little high to me, would think you'd be in the high $300s with either of the down payments. Are your taxes included in the payment or added to the cost of the car?
  • cassandra999cassandra999 Member Posts: 7
about 399/mo is about what I'm getting too... If i understand correctly in Ohio the tax is applied up front to the entire about being paid thru out the lease term (not including title and registration fees.)
  • cfragocfrago Member Posts: 11
That seems high to me. THe national deal of $299/mo, 36 mo, 595 acqu fee, 605 cap cost for base w/o navi. Your amounts include about 600-700 or so down so that is close enough to the national deal for the cap cost. Navi should add mayb 35-40 a month (navi cost 2500, say at 50% residual over 36 months=35 or so, round to 40). In CT we pay sales tax on the monthly payment. So if that is similar, than I would think maybe 360 or so (299+40 for navi, plus sales tax at 6.75%. just my $.02.

  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi cfrago. Let's work up a sample lease payment on the TSX that you are interested in and see what we come up with. For now I will assume that you are able to get it for $500 over dealer invoice. According to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2008 Acura TSX without navigation with a manual transmission that has an MSRP of $28,905 and a selling price of $27,130 through Honda Finance right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $328 assuming that you qualify for its top credit tier and pay a security deposit at lease signing. Even with a selling price of right at invoice, the payment is still $313 before tax. I suppose that there's a chance that you might be able to get $299 per month before tax, but more likely you are going to be $10 or $20 higher than that.

Hi cassandra999. There is a very, very good chance that the lease-end purchase option price for your leased TSX will be higher than its real world value in several years. Even though a low monthly payment seems attractive now, you will be better off going with a 15,000 mile per year lease and having a higher monthly payment if you plan on driving that much. You aren't losing anything by doing so, you're just giving yourself more options. The purchase option price for a TSX that was leased with 15,000 miles per year will be lower than the price for one that was leased with only 10k. By leasing with 15k, it is less likely that you will exceed your car's mileage allowance...or at least you will be less over it. Without a huge excess mileage penalty, you will have the option to turn your car in at lease-end if you believe that its purchase price is outrageously high or if it has been in an accident or given you mechanical problems or if you are just plain sick of it.
