Hello Dana. Here's the info that you're looking for.

VW Credit's July buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan SE with 12,000 miles per year are .00082 and 54%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 2010 Jetta Limited Edition Sedan are .00083 and 57%.

In most areas, Volkswagen s providing a $500 cash incentive on leases of this car through VW Credit. Make sure to take advantage of this cash when negotiating your deal.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful. I realized in my earlier message that I forgot to mention mileage. Do these figures change for a lease based on 10000 miles/year.
    Thanks!
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
You're very welcome, Dana. VW Credit's 10,000 mile per year residual values are 1% higher than its 12,000 mile per year residuals.

    Hi Everyone-

Just trying to get a sense on the pricing I'm being quoted for the 2010 Jetta Limited addition with a sunroof:
    Price $18,800.
    MSRP:$20,664
The residual at 12,000 miles would be 56% of MSRP or $11,571
    The money factor is .00016

This breaks down to $250 per month including sales tax and no money down. I'm in Boston MA

    sbeausoleil,
Looks like your MF is out by a factor of 10. Should be 0.0016, equivalent to 3.8% APR

    Hi, Car_man,

Thank you for your valuable comment.
But I have a question about what you meant by VW Credit's top credit tier.

I don't want to be embarrassed by lease disapproval after price negotiation.
How can I know I am in the tier before visiting the dealer, or before negotiation?

    Thank you so much,

    JK

    Hello,
I received some very helpful advice from you last month (thank you) but had to put off my lease until next week. I am curious if you know if the money factor and residual values have changed since July for the Jetta SE and the Limited edition for a 3 year / 10000 mile per year lease. I include below the numbers that you sent for last month. Thanks!

    2010 Jetta Sedan SE: 00082 and 55%

2010 Jetta Limited Edition Sedan are .00083 and 58%.

You're welcome jooon3. I don't believe that VW Credit's special lease program is very selective. If you tell me what your credit score is, I should be able to give you an idea of whether you will qualify for the best available rates.

    Car_man:

Just checking, as wbradney in post #1124 is stating that your money factor is off and should actually be .0016.

Certainly don't mean any offense, just don't want to give the dealer something to discredit my offer. Thanks.

    Hello!

I did start a new 2011 thread, however it is still not here within Jetta. I think it is time to discussing the new Jetta! Like when is the official arrival date? Looks like it'll be a success based on the info already released. :)

    Thank you so much.
But I went to a dealership before checking your message.
My credit was okay, but I ended up with leasing a Tiguan, not a Jetta.
The numbers were posted under 'Tiguan Lease Questions' forum.

  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
When you state that your credit is okay. Did it affect the lease?

I am currently leasing 2 cars, I am 25 and I am wanting to trade my car that I drive, but am nervous that they won't let me lease 2 cars again. I wouldn't think they would tell that you have to downsize to one car lease since I have had them a little over 2 years with no issues. Wouldn't the creditors see that? I am going to school soon too, so I am worried about the school loans. I could see myself trading my car, but later on, they wouldn't let me trade for my 2nd car. I am fairly new to all this. I would think since I am in good standing with all my accounts, then I have no worries. I have good credit, but limited. My 3rd car lease on my account too.

Reason for posting here, is that I have an 08 Jetta and a GMAC lease too. Wanting out of GMAC lease, I have to, due to mileage on it.

    Car Man,
I’m going soon to negotiate a 3-yr/12,000 lease on 2010 Limited Edition Jetta (auto) in Las Vegas. Sticker is 21,569. Edmund’s indicates TMV at 20,955 with options. 1) Would this be accurate? You previously posted info re: $500 VW lease incentive. 2) Do all VW dealerships offer it? You also posted a buy rate lease $ factor .00016 and 57% residual for this model. My credit score is just below 800. 3) Are the $ factor and residual current so I can use them or are they variable and change daily? 4) Is there a security deposit? 5) What is the average VW credit acquisition/bank fee? 6) What are the average VW doc fees & are they negotiable? 7) I’ve always leased from Honda & they typically want to add some sort of theft protection fee. Will VW push this too? Thanks for any info or negotiation tips you can provide.

    Hi, bvdj84,

If you asked the question to me, I have no idea.
This was my first time leasing a car, and so a bit worried about disapproval.
However, it didn't happen. This is all I know.

Sorry for not being able to help.
    Hope other guys can.

Hi haggard. No offense taken at all. Typos and other issues from time to time, but not in this case. VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan Limited Edition is indeed .00016. That's equivalent to an interest rate of around 0.38%.

Hi shpils. Volkswagen's lease program for the Jetta varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are, so for now I will assume that you're interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different.

VW Credit's August buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan S with 15,000 miles per year are .00001 and 51%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

When negotiating your deal on this car, make sure to take advantage of the $500 cash incentive that is currently available on leases of it through VW Credit.

Hi kropper. Yes, Volkswagen is indeed providing a $500 cash incentive on leases of the 2010 Jetta Sedan right now. This is a national incentive that is being paid for by Volkswagen. If I was in the market for this car right now, I personally would shoot for a selling price of dealer invoice. The dealer is making $500 on a sale at that price.

The lease money factor and residual value that I mentioned earlier are correct for a 36 month, 10,000 mile per year lease of a '10 Jetta Sedan Limited Edition. They are good through the end of the month.

VW Credit usually charges both a security deposit, equivalent to one's monthly payment rounded up to the nearest $25 increment, and an acquisition fee of $595. Doc fees vary from dealer to dealer, but you ideally want them to be as low as possible. If they are too high, make sure to take them into account when looking at your car's selling price.

I was recently offered the following lease in Seattle, WA (Tax is 9.8%) and would love some insights to if you think this is a good/fair/bad deal. Thank you in advance for your help!

2010 Jetta Limited Edition w/ Sunroof & iPod
    Lease: 12,000/year for 36mo
    MSRP: $21,1450
    LEV: 56% ($11,841.20)
    Initial Cap Cost: $18,219.00
    Capped Acq Fee: $895
    Adjusted Cap Cost: $19,114.00
    Lease Money Factor: 0.00016
    Base Monthly Rental: $206.97
    Monthly Use Tax: 9.8000% - $20.28
    Total Montly Payment: $227.25
    Lic-LOCAL OPT: $297.50
Due At Signing: $674.75 (First month + registration + $150 doc fee)

Should this be a bad deal, would love recommendations on what value(s) to negotiate.

    Thanks

    zurgdawg,

Looks like some of the terminology is incorrect. Let's summarize the deal...

    MSRP............................................... 21,145.00

    Sell Price.......................................... 18,219.00

    Amounts Financed
    Acquisition Fee................................. 895.00 (VW Credit's is 595)

    Gross Cap....................................... 19,114.00
    Cap Reduction................................. 0.00
    Adjusted Cap................................... 19,114.00

    Money Factor.................................. 0.00016
    Term.............................................. 36

    Residual Factor.............................. 56%
Residual Value............................... 11,841.20 (Res Factor x MSRP)

    Monthly Base Payment................... 206.97
    WA Sales Tax @9.80%.................. 20.28
    Monthly Lease Payment................. 227.25

    Amounts Due at Lease Signing...

    1st Payment................................. 227.25
    DMV............................................ 297.50
    Dealer Doc Fee............................ 150.00

    TOTAL DUE AT SIGNING............. 674.75

I'm assuming that the initial cap cost of 18,219 is really the selling price which is called the Agreed Upon Value in leasing parlance. If so, everything looks fabulous! The 0.00016 money factor is exceptional and the sell price looks terrific!

The only red flag is the acquisition fee of 895. This is grossly inflated. As far as I know, VW Credit charges 595. Also, keep in mind that VW is offfering a $500 cash incentive. So, you may want to knock $500 off of the sell price as well as reduce the acq fee by $300. I'm certain you can successfully get one or the other, if not both.

Appreciate the quick reply & assurance John!

I'll see what I can do on the acq fee and inquire about the VW Credit. I'll post my results here as I progress.

As for the language/terms, the salesperson has been VERY honest & upfront with all of the values and that specific language/terms came from the leasing software he was using. He took screenshots directly from the software & e-mailed them to me, so everything I put in my post was a reflection of that.

    Thanks again!
  • delta737hdelta737h Member Posts: 626
    zurgdawg,

I figured that's probably what happened. The software terminology should mirror the terminology in the FRBB's Reg M, Consuming Leasing Act. But, there may be reasons why it doesn't.

    Hi everyone,

Pam and I are heading out to lease a 2010 Jetta today. The current National incentive is 199 a month with 1999.00 down and tax and fees on top of that. In common terms, can you give us some advice on whether there is room in this incentive to bring the cost of the lease down. Can the 199 go down, the 1999., and what should we expect in NJ on tax and how do we control the fees.

    Thanks,
    Rich and Pam

Hey everyone. I live in Miami, FL and am I am looking to lease the 2010 Jetta Limited Edition w/ Sunroof and IPOD adapter. Here is what the dealer has:

    MSRP - $21,569
    Invoice - $20,998
    Residual - 60% based on 10K miles
    Money Factor .00076

(Cap Cost - Residual) / Term
    ($20,998 - $12,941) / 36 = $223.79

(Cap Cost + Residual) * Money Factor
    ($20,998 +$12,941)*.00076 = $25.79

    Total Lease Payment - $249.59

Note: I have a 328 I BMW with two payments left and minor body work that needs to be done. The payments total $529/ mo or $1,058. I have an estimate of $650 to complete body work. The dealer has agreed to pay both car payments and assume full liability of the BMW which means I dont have to come out of pocket for the repairs.

    Due at inception is: $1,350

First month payment $267 including tax
    Dealer Fee - $599
    Tag - $250
    Registration - $50

Cant think of the remaining $184 in fees at the moment.

Does this sound like a good deal?

    Hello,

First time car leaser. I've done my reading on the ins & outs about leasing a car. I have my eye on the Jetta Limited Edition 2010 w iPod adapter.

I live in Astoria, NY and would like to know if anyone has recently leased a Jetta from around the NY area. I'd like to know the specifics of what kind of deal you worked out with the dealer. Thanks for your help!!!

Evening guys, hoping someone would run through my lease worksheet and tell me if you catch any red flags before I sign on the dotted line. Totally new to leasing and thankfully stumbled upon this site. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
    (From NYC VW dealer)

2010 Volkwagen Jetta LE with Sunroof, iPod Adapter, Protection Kit

    MSRP: $21764
    Price: $20896
    Term/Mi: 36 / 12K
    Rate (Money Factor?): .00016 (3.8%?)
    Residual: 56%
    Adj. Residual: $12187.84
    Acq. Fee: $625 - Upfront
    Govt. Fees: $277.50
    Taxes: $902.43
    Doc Fee: $75 - Upfront
    Down payment: $1999
Total Initial Payment: $3456 (This adds up to about $3850, so, ?)

    Total monthly payment: $209.00
    .

They initially wanted $247.82/month for the same total at lease signing, but I refused to pay for a sunroof I "didn't want" , which on the invoice was listed as $883. The sunroof, iPod adapter, and protection kit (that I didn't specifically ask for) were all discounted a little bit on the invoice.

I refused to pay for the sunroof. I didn't ask for it, so I figured if they were adding it, they better be adding it for free. I also inquired about the $500 VW Credit cash incentive, but at $209, he said the incentive was worked into the price of the vehicle already. On my worksheet however, there's a line that says Rebate: 0.00. Should I be concerned?

I do find it coincidental that if one takes the original payment of 247 and subtracts:
    883/36 = 24.5 and 500/36 = 14, (247-24.5-14 = $208.5)

Should I have been more aggressive with the invoice price?

In addition, there are a few lines that I'm not sure of.

    1. Cents/Mile Begin 0.10 , Cents/Mile End 0.20 . I get the Cents/Mile End number. What does the first one mean?

    2. Maint Prem
Warr Upfront - Y (Yes to paying for what warranty upfront? Where would I find that fee?)

Thanks for looking and any insight would be apreciated. Thanks again!

Ask the dealer for their LEASE WORKSHEET which is a computer generated document with all pertinent information. DO NOT let them give you numbers verbally. I'll be happy to analyze this document if you email it to me at

I'm also looking into leasing a 2010 Jetta in the NYC area. I'm a first time leaser myself. Looks like there is an abundance of LE's. Your lease deal doesn't look too bad. Can you let me know which dealership you went to in NY. And if possible I'd also like to see the dealer's lease WORK SHEET.

I'd appreciate any input on the following lease:

    2010 VW Jetta LE
    Auto Trans
    Sunroof
    Protection kit
    IPod adapter
36 months with 15K miles per year

    MSRP: 21764
    Sell Price: 20280
Adjusted Cap Cost: 20905 (I would finance the 625 acquisition fee)
    Money Factor: .00016
    Residual: 54% (11752.56)
    Tax Rate 7%
No Down Payment or Security Deposit
Due at signing would be usual MV fees, plus first month's payment.

The monthly payment would be $276, including tax. How does this sound to everyone?

Kind of hard to figure out if this is a good deal because I don't know specifically what car this is. It must be pretty loaded to have a $26,155 MSRP. Is it a TDI Cup edition? The base TDI with manual tranny lists for only 22,800. Do you know what the invoice price is?
  • dr_of_rxdr_of_rx Member Posts: 13
sorry...here are more details on the car

    TDI Base Price: $ 22,830.00
    Destination charge: 750.00
    Automatic transmission: 1,100.00
    17" Goal Silver Alloy Wheels $ 1,250.00
    Jetta Mat Kit $ 225.00

    = $ 26,155.00

    invoice is $25,039
  • tptmantptman Member Posts: 11
Looks like a fair selling price, but you might want to get other quotes. Based on the rent charge you are showing, it looks like the money factor is about .00068 or 1.63%, which is also pretty good. Residual is coming in at 60%, which for a 10K/year lease seems right also. Just be careful with the mileage, as you'll pay quite a price if you exceed the 30,000 miles by a significant margin.
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi Swifty . Volkswagen Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan TDI with 15,000 miles per year are .00068 and 57%, respectively.

The numbers for an otherwise identical 48 month lease are .00128 and 50%.

The new Jetta has been Americanized for the U S only. I would go get a 2010 ASAP.
A TDI if you can. The new car just feels like a Civic not a VW it's a shame.
  • tptmantptman Member Posts: 11
Ronharmer appears to be correct, as I had a VW salesman tell me that they "cheapened" the 2011 Jetta. Have read elsewhere that this was a cost containment move by VW to bring the base price down. Such a shame. Glad I snagged a 2010 when I did! It's really a great car and the build quality appears to be excellent. A big selling point for VW was the "German Engineering" concept and the quality of the materials they use for the interior, etc. Seems like all they've done is thrown themselves into the big pool of lower priced cars, thereby compromising brand identity/strength. Bad move IMHO. How many products have we seen go down the tubes because of price pressure and the need to cut corners? Ultimately the ignorant consumers who drove prices down will pay for it when their nice cheap car needs expensive maintenance.
  • ronharmerronharmer Member Posts: 5

I was wondering what the residual and money value for a 2010 Jetta TDI Cup with 3 year/36k miles was?
  • egoody88egoody88 Member Posts: 3
Hi everyone. My local dealer is advertising a 2010 DSG TDI sedan with sunroof, ipod, and protection kit for 23,299 (MSRP = 26,299). Includes everything except TTL, acquisition and doc fee. Seems like a good deal based on the research I've done so far. There is no leasing info included in this particular ad. Does anyone know if dealers normally allow you to lease a car using their advertised sale price?

Also, I read in one of Car_man's previous posts that the Sept buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan TDI with 15,000 miles per year were .00068 and 57%. Does anyone know if these rates are the same for October? I only need 12k miles per year so I just increase the residual value by 2%. Is this right? Thank you.

Hi egoody88. Volkswagen is not currently providing any cash incentives on the 2010 Jetta TDI so chances are you won't see much of a difference between this car's selling price on a purchase and on a lease.

Please see my previous post for the lease program information that you're looking for.

VW is offering a $0 special on all their models! I might just pull the plug this month!

But, I am worried about the $2,800 payments of my current lease I have to roll into the deal. Not too bad though! I really have to, as I have only about 800 miles left on my lease and not sure I want to go over.

I have my eye on a Jetta SEL and or a Camry SE.
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
You're right, bvdj84. Volkswagen is running its famous Sign Then Drive lease promotion this month. While having the first payment of your lease waived is a fairly attractive offer, I definitely would not let it persuade me to get out if my current lease with a whopping $2,800 in payments left. You might be better off keeping your car until you're closer to the scheduled end of your lease and trying to keep your driving to a minimum.

Let's say that you have eight months left on your current lease, at a pace of 12,000 miles per year you'd only incur $1,600 in excess mileage charges at $0.20/mile.

Yes, very good point. Honestly, I don't want to really worry about trading now. But, the thought of getting billed from GM is a bit nerve racking. That is the only reason now that I would want to trade. I would rather wait until Spring.

My dealer will provide me with a deal on Monday. So I can still walk away. They mentioned calling GM to see what they could do about my balance. Good luck with that..lol. I just don't want some random bill owing GM money.

See, the overage fees are not bad.

    Thanks
