or taken it to the dealership to have the error codes read?
I'd be dumping it for a different, more reliable vehicle.
Electrical issues...well yes, I've had a few. The big one is the battery rundown issue. I had this fixed about 6 months after taking delivery after 2 dead battery events. I think the bulletin number is 07033, and it involves a reflash of the Body Control Module. About a year ago, I started to experience wierd electric events. My wipers would start to wipe and the washers would run until the tank was drained. Pressing the heated washer button would sometimes cause the cruise control to set. My dealer couldn't find anything wrong, but reflashed the BCM again, and problems went away and haven't returned.
I'm actually having another problem. My DVD system seems to be over heating. About half way through some movies the DVD will start freezing and skipping. If I touch the unit it is hot to the touch. At other times, if the unit is cool it wont have any problems playing through movies even ones that skip when the system is warm.
I bet your headlights are turning on and off. Is this happening around dusk, dawn, near shadows or tunnels?
I know in my tahoe the lights will come on while it is still pretty bright out.
I suggest turning the console brightness all the way up with the lights on. This might help.
BTW you don't have to remove your alternator or battery to have them checked. They can check in the vehicle along w/ the starter.
Is your belt tight? Sometimes the idler spring gets weak and allows the belt to slip on the alternator pulley when it's under heavy load and therefore won't charge the battery.
