P.R. and telling us what he thinks we want to hear. In a way, he's a master of spin like Clinton was. 100% lies while he does whatever he wants.
That even 30% of the country believe in him still is astounding. But yes - nothing happened. Nothing will. He was raised to believe that whatever is good for business and oil is good for America. Born into it, raised, his first job in it...
Plus, it's not the government that decides this - it's the energy companies. They don't need government handouts to make the stuff(which is what the proposals boil down to)
P.S. Bet you Haliburton gets the contract for the Immigration Wall. Sigh.
...I wonder if Mexican Presidente Vincente Fox will be someday be standing beside the "Immigration Wall" saying to a crowd, "Mr. Bush! Tear down this wall!"
Agree pal....I'm not sure how low we as a society will go. I'm really worried that we as a society will allow China, to overtake us as a economic superpower and we are going to see a Ameruro currency to further move us to a one world government. Perhaps this is what Mises was hoping for ?
If he was then he is cheering. I don't mind Canada being part of the United States, since they have something to offer us. Mexico OTOH has nothing to offer us unless we can lock up all the drug lords. I'm just afraid that these Chinese cars will have enough clout to be loved by some americans. Hyundai is atleast South Korean. Then if that's not bad enough, look at what India has on board. They can make cheaper cars then China. So basically us average folks are going to get lower quality products, instead. The "free markets" like Germany that have similar standards of living" have improve quality overall of cars, but when you throw in two unfair traders into the mix, then the producers with higher standards of living are going to have to off-shore just to be competitive. The end result is a Chin-E-class car built by slave and/or child labor.
I agree about the competition among similar standards of living, and the amoral labor conditions existing elsewhere. A unified North America could be good...but we'll only unify in ways that help corporate interests.
Personally, I would have a hard time having much faith in a car made by someone earning $2/day.
Yes this is a very touchy topic. I'd welcome Mexico and Canada as being one country or atleast one currency as long as it can be a benefit to all of us involved.
is going to compete well globally wherever Dodge decides to export it to. That new "world" motor looks to be solid and the body style seems to be a hit with a lot(not all)American consumers. It looks good to me, although I'm more interested in Dodge's new Hornet that will soon get a green light for production and may, just may be built in Mexico for Dodge by VW.
I don't think any of those are going to close pal. I do know the Dayton plant will stay open since my co-workers son lives in Ohio and works at that GM plant. They make SUV's there. The others I'm unaware of there status.
The list was GM; I was blurring those with the Delphi plants in the area that are closing. The GM plant is staying open into the future. They ought to; they sucked enough subsidy money from the local communities by threatening to move their football team to another city if the locals didn't pay for building them this and that--oops I meant auto plant. The extortion technique is the same as the BenGals and other teams have used and I got them confused, grin.
Yeah the Delphi plants will be closing it's doors. Only "8" will remain here in the U.S. and god only know just how long they will stay open unless the trade laws get reversed in 08' if somebody like John Edwards win.

I hope the things never hit these shores...with the lowest common denominator sinking lower by the minute, it could get ugly.

Customer: There's a rattling sound coming from the left rear quarter of my new Chin-E-Class.
Mechanic (holding strange withered object): Here it is, sir, I've found the source.
Customer: What is it?
Mechanic: It's the mummified remains of a Chinese kid's hand that was severed in a 20-ton press.
Personally, I would have a hard time having much faith in a car made by someone earning $2/day.
