So the sale price according to the dealer, initially, was $26,323. Again, sorry, leaving a lot to the story, I got this through the Costco auto buying program. I very much insisted on getting the OTD price since I mentioned I already had financing and he said he initally OTD, including all the dealer fees, tags, registration, etc, was 28,550 but his manager was feeling generous and brought it down down to 27,500. I managed to get him down to 26,000 because I was only financed for 25,000 and I could pay the rest in a money order.

So, for everything, on a basic 2018 hybrid camry LE 26,000, out the door! Does that sound ok?

My main problem is I don't actually know what a fair price would be. $1600 off MSRP sounds good, but for all I know it's a terrible deal.

I'm considering just waiting until the new models are announced and hoping to get a deal then, since they may want to clear inventory

First of all, I'm an International student so my English may not enough for you all understand clearly. Please understand me.
It's my first time buying a brand new car with budget $24,500 to $25,000 including all doc, taxes and everything.
I live in Arizona area and may go to dealership at the first week of the coming August.
What I am now considering is Toyota Camry se or Honda Accord Sports 1.5.
I have been considering other used luxury cars such as( Lexus,2 years or 3 years old ES350, MB GLA 250 and Audi Q3). However, I'm worried about what if there will be some diagnostic issues on a car then it's luxury brand, and will cost me a lot. So now I'm thinking between Camry and Accord.

Oh Too much info myself, In Arizona area, if I get Camry for $25,000 OTD then is it going to be crazy deal and dealers won't even reply me? I do not mind LE but are there much differences between LE and XLE?


If you have an experiences that purchased Camry in Arizona area, plz share me your deal. I will be appreciate.

I wouldn't take those as gospel. I'd contact dealers directly, or show up with your checkbook, and see where the prices go.

Dealers have to pay for those quotes that go through 3rd party websites. I don't see where that helps you, in trying to get the lowest price. You may be able to get a "fair" price, that way, but I want a deal in the 95th percentile.

Doc fees and registration tend to be pretty high in Arizona. You have to budget at least $1200 just for that.
Then sales tax on $22000 is another $1800 or so..

So, your actual budget for selling price is about $22,000 (+tax, title/doc/registration), if you want to get out the door for $25K.

There isn't much in the way of incentives on the Camry in your area. $500 rebate, if you are financing through TFS.

I don't know the MSRPs of the models you are interested in, but to get to $22000 selling price, they will definitely have to be under $25K MSRP.

For trim differences and MSRPs, the quickest way to get that info is to check out the Toyota website.

So for example, if i want to purchase the car with OTD 25000, then Selling Price must be 22,000 so that i can pay tax and doc fee etc.
then, is it better buying a car in California and drive back to Arizona and register? For instance, California Sales tax is 9.8 percents but if i purchase in California and register myself, then i do not need to pay California sales tax. I still pay the Arizona sales tax when I register roght,
and the doc and reg fee, because i am not purchasing a car thru Arizona dealers, so i dont need to think abt extra 1200 dollars when I register right?
Am I thinking correctly?

You pay sales tax where you register the vehicle. You can't get out of the fees/taxes by buying out of state. Plus, CA won't let you take delivery in CA, without paying CA sales tax, first... so, then you have a sales tax issue to sort out. So, you might save on a dealer/doc fee, but you'll still have AZ registration fees.

It's best to shop hard in your home area, and find the best deal you can, there.

I live in Ohio. I got a quote from a dealership for a 2018 Camry XSE that is “supposedly” $5,000 less than MSRP (from 32K down to 27K). I’ve received a similar offer from another dealership. These are both the first offers that they’ve given me. The one I would prefer has an MSRP of around $35,000 and is at a third dealership. They only have a few XSE models left on the lot. I’m just asking for advice and thoughts on how low I can get them to go down. Price is everything (it always should be). I know the 2019 models will be arriving soon. Is starting at $25,000 a slap in the face? Also, my wife just got a 2018 Highlander from the same dealership within the past year. I would think that would work to my benefit. I would like to keep my monthly payment as low as possible and I’m pre-approved through my credit union at work with a rate that they will never beat. I’m also willing to lease to keep the payment down. No trade in and would consider money down. Thoughts?
