    Hi, Michaell or kyfdx.

    Can I ask how exactly the Edmunds calculator works - what's the formula - once you have the MSRP, Sale prices, RV, state sales tax, etc?

    For example, using the values I have from you guys, and this particular Colorado LT I'm looking at, the calculator gives me the following for a 2-year lease:

    MSRP: $36,320
    Price Paid: $27,820 (this is also the current sale price)
    Down Payment: $0
    Trade-In Value: $0
    Residual Value: $25,424 (using 70%)
    Money Factor: 0.00221
    Term (months): 24
    Taxes: 6.25%

    => Monthly Payment: $231

    Does that sound legit? Are there any more monthly fees to be factored in?

    Should this - $223 - be the monthly payment I make sure to get if I get the sale price to $27,820? In other words, would the dealer still be making money if my monthly payment was $231, and thus shouldn't try tricking me into a higher monthly payment despite the $27,820 sale price?

    For kicks, if I change the Price Paid to $30,000 (since no one ever gets the Sale Price), I get:

    => Monthly Payment: $333

    I'll have my Edmunds calculator with me when I visit the dealers in the near future, but I want to know what the actual math formula is in case they try to tell me the Edmunds calculator is b.s.

    I went to LeaseGuide.com and plugged in all the numbers I get from the Edmunds calculator, going all the way up to a $34,000 sale price (=> $519/month for 2 years), and LeaseGuide rates them all as "outstanding" ... which I don't think they are. But that's another matter, I guess.

    Does that sound legit? Are there any more monthly fees to be factored in?

    Should this - $223 - be the monthly payment I make sure to get if I get the sale price to $27,820? In other words, would the dealer still be making money if my monthly payment was $231, and thus shouldn't try tricking me into a higher monthly payment despite the $27,820 sale price?

    For kicks, if I change the Price Paid to $30,000 (since no one ever gets the Sale Price), I get:

    => Monthly Payment: $333

    I'll have my Edmunds calculator with me when I visit the dealers in the near future, but I want to know what the actual math formula is in case they try to tell me the Edmunds calculator is b.s.

    I went to LeaseGuide.com and plugged in all the numbers I get from the Edmunds calculator, going all the way up to a $34,000 sale price (=> $519/month for 2 years), and LeaseGuide rates them all as "outstanding" ... which I don't think they are. But that's another matter, I guess.

    I don't use the Edmunds calculator. I would assume it follows the same simple formula.

    Your example is correct, but I don't think you'll get $8500 off MSRP. I would expect that include a lot of incentives that aren't compatible with the lease program.
