Best way to test would be to look at your tachometer...flip the heat controls around until the tachometer either falls (AC on) or rises (AC off) and this will tell you at which heat position the AC is working.
I had 00 Pontiac Montana but their ABS didn't have this noise at all.
I didn't go to dealer yet but it looked the problem is genetic...
Recently I have crinkling noise from the driver's side window. If anyone had same problem and got fixed, please let me know..

Now to the main point of my post: Has anyone experienced any power steering noise? I am just now experiencing a fairly loud whining when the engine is hot and it is much more noticable when turning. I'm pretty sure it's the power steering as it even is noisy when sitting still and gets louder when turning. I've read on one other forum that one guy had his power steering in his '05 replaced 3 times. I'm taking it in tomorrow to get it looked at. Anyone with similar problems?
In response to other posts, we have only had issue with grinding noise with front brake pads when they heat-up. But we have also noticed that after dealer service, they have often made software updates and other adjustments that do not get detailed. This includes putting some channel tabs on the front wiper blade arms to deal with noise and improve performance.
But we have an excellent dealer in Hyannis Mass, which may be why we have not had addl problems.

Nothing wrong with your vehicle. This is a relatively heavy vehicle (4300 #), so you are lucky to get more than 22MPG in the winter with full load. But the city mileage is a bigger disapointment since 90% of us could not duplicate the EPA number. Check your tire pressure regularly. I have seen tire pressure drop 5 PSI within a month due to cold air. Also do not accelerate too fast from 0-60 since that is bad for Gas mileage also.
We have our 05 more than a year now. Our numbers are just like yours. In addition, my old GM minivan with less HP and less weight returns the similar numbers.

We also have brake grind on the car.. the dealer replaced her brakes and rotors @ about 15k miles yet it grinds today like it needs rotors again.
Another weird quirk are the mouldings around the power doors.. on the bottom specifically.. they have been glued on 2 times already by the dealer and yet they keep falling off. A poor design or bad glue? You decide.
And to comment on the gas mileage.. I agree with the other 90% of you that my Ody does not approach the EPA estimates in the real world. It gets about the same mileage as my old 97 2dr explorer. It's a joke.
Sorry to vent...
Thanks!
A) Start car
C) The noise will come when shift changes to 2nd and about 13-15 mph speed. You will hear click (like shooting spring) and hear similar voice after about 10 seconds
I have a 2006 Odyssey EX-L and guess that I have noticed the same noise. It is funny, because I have two Mopars (99 Intrepid, 05 Pacifica) with the auto locking doors which lock at about 10 mph. The sound the Odyssey makes is very similar to this and happens at about the same speed. I just figured it was some system check that the van does once it gets going and did not even give it a second thought.
Then these people with their minor "clicking noise" at a certain speed while going over a speed bump will come here and talk about this.
Then everyone will be looking and listening to their own cars in fear they, too, have the same dreaded problem.
artgpo, your post is a good one. Every vehicle on the road has it's own paticular sounds and nuances.
Part of this is the salesperson's fault. I always try to remember to tell my customers about the ABS self-test. I also tell them not to expect EPA mileage figures. I tell them that if they install crossbars that they might get a bit of wind noise etc.
Every auto tranny car I have ever driven has had some vibration at idle (one of the things I don't like about a slushbox), since there is some load on the engine when you leave it in drive. In essence, it is "lugging" very slightly.
If it really bothers you, slip it into neutral if you are sitting still?
turning on the lights or running an accessory (like the windows) makes it go away because the extra drain causes the engine revs to increase slightly.
One problem is cars are set to idle pretty low these days (probably for MPG or emissions), which adds to the sensation.

I am assuming, of course, that we are discussing the normal operation. It would be different if in a speciifc case there was a bigger problem (like a defective motor mount).
Anyway, if I really pay attention and look for it, I can ID the sensation. But, it just seems normal to me, since cars are designed to get into high gear as soon as possible, so you get some sort of lugging.
Ever car also has some natural harmonic balance oints where you can get a noise like this, due to some combination of intake noise, vibrations, etc. That's why you don't feel it at higher or lower speeds.
I suppose you could drop down a gear to get the revs up if it really bothered you. Or turn the radio up?
Either my van is smoother than others or I am just not as sensative to the feeling (or I lump it into my general distaste for how auto trannys operate), but it just doesn't bother me.

Some people here and in Pilot discussion talk about certain things that possibly shouldn't be there such as noises at certain highway speeds. But they never say "I test drove a vehicle under the same conditions and it didn't do it." They usually didn't get a thorough test drive. Probably the vehicle for test drives did the same thing.
Best method is to rent a car for a weekend short trip or thorough use over a couple of days, if possible to do.
OTOH many cars have flaws that shouldn't be there and the company should have designed them out. Maybe that's not possible to do. But you just decide the flaws are overwhelmed by the things you do like and enjoy in the vehicle.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
When you overfill crankcase two bad things can happen.
1) If you overfill it enough the crank counter weights will hit the oil. Normally the oil level is just below the rotation of the crank. The crank hitting the oil will develop friction which will probably reduce your mileage.
2) Worse is that the crank hitting the oil will cause the oil to foam. Your engine is designed to handle oil as a liquid and not as a foam.
I would check the oil immediately after driving and if you see any foam, replace it at the correct level.
I just wanted to post something positive in this forum...
And minor things tend to get amplified beyond reality in forums like this. This applies to any make and model!
Never took my almost 2 yr Ody back to dealer for anything.
It runs flawlessly and I do my own PM - been doing so for the past 30+ yrs to all the vehicles in my home.
We just got a loaded Ridgeline RTL 4 months ago. It too runs flawless and is fun to drive like the Ody. I just did the first oil change last week. No need to use ramps - just crawl under it. A piece of cake!
Nice find, our Ody vibrates/drone going up hill too. Look like some people from Ody club who has their rear-engine-mount replaced posted good results
Yes, it has "Micron-Air Filtration." Check the window sticker, it might say.
The strut problem that start 6 months ago, you heard when you drives that something is popping or touching the wheels at slow speed better, yesterday finally after so many times they said that is the strut and they request the parts to be replaced.
The sound in the handle they just lubricate the wires, already twice.

Honda's claim for mileage are completely wrong. Toyota is much better in that respect. We all should complain to BBB.

Complain to the EPA not Honda.
How do you only get 2 mpg more in one vehicle and 3 mpg more in the other vehicle on the Highway than in town?
How do you know that the vehicle is switching to 3 cylinder mode : ECO light?
Anyway, many of us complained about the humming/booming sound at 2200- 2400RPM or about 40 MPH around town or ~60 MPH on highway on slightly inclined roads.
If that is what you talking about, then join the club. Some vehicles have it and some don't. One person already figured it out: a loose mesh in the A pipe (exhaust pipe). And he got hid vehicle repaired by his Honda dealer.
Your problem could be a new one and truely VCM related if it does not fit the symptom above.
