. You even used your quotation marks correctly.

You know how I hate to lose an arguement? Well, if I had used the word "Matt" I would have explained it by saying I threw some guy named Matthew on the floor.........short form Matt.

That is a nice looking car!
It is a really nice looking car and I'd love to get one of those for Florida. The red is a good color for Fusions but it looks even better in white, and I think black would work well. It looks even better in white:

"...It essentially costs @$300 per month to maintain all four vehicles..."

That's about $75 a month per vehicle, right? I figured out all the repairs I've done on the hooptie van and it come out to about $72 per month. The only work I've done myself is change the battery a few days ago.

I guess I'll have to stop cussing and kicking that van. :)

Oh, I also fixed the heater fan by pounding my fist on a bunch of wires in the engine compartment. :lemon:

The Malibu looks pretty good too......but like the current editions, I think the Fusion is slightly more with it...a cleaner more modern look.

And it does look a lot like an Aston Martin front end.

The front end looks like a bass. It's void of having been made part of the car--it's empty.

I agree and it looks waaay better than the Fusion but since it's a Chevy that kills it for me. I have a friend who has an '07 and an '08 Fusion. I think both of them look much better than the new Fusion. I don't like the grill on the new one at all.

Absolutely, just stating my opinion...just like a journalist would who would be writing a review. I base it on what I perceive to be a neater cleaner look....less clutter, larger window areas, smoother lines.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Malibu looks pretty good too, but in my opinion, the Fusion gets points for being more daring, more original, and it seems to have little no draft windows too.

But, strictly subjective. Now you can have your opinion.......................

Dave Letterman said Mitt, as in Mitt Romney, stood for Mitten.
    I don't know if there is a definitive answer but this seems to be the best explanation;

His full name is Willard Mitt Romney. Mitt, his middle name, comes from his father's cousin Milton Romney, who played quarterback for the Chicago Bears some time ago.

does stopping at a dealer to shop still qualify as news around here?

Just hard to actually check out a car caked in ice, with the tires frozen to the grass it was parked on! and blocked in by another row of ice coated cars.

"...salesguys must hate weather like this..."

Wasn't it boomchek who worked at a dealer where the sales force had to clean the cars every time it snowed?

I always wondered how they cleaned several hundred cars at these big mega dealers. I figured they just had a big truck that sprayed hot water. I can't imagine what a bunch of disgruntled sales people banging and hacking away would do to the finish on a car.

It is really nice not to even have to think about ice and snow. They had a snow storm back home last week, lots of accidents and roads closed. What a way to live!

Too bad you couldn't give the bimmer a test run, it would have been interesting to hear your views.

Hopefully, the weather will improve and the ice will have melted, so you can get into the car.

It does remind me of going to the drive thru on a really freezing day when I had my X3. If the temperature got to around zero the window wouldn't go down...so I had to open the door a bit, pay for my coffee, and then get it through the open door.

I watch in my rear view mirror as a guy in a 10 year old Ford Focus puts down his window with no problem. He must have been LHAO.

You wouldn't know there was a recession going on if you go to Brandon Mall on a Saturday. 20 minutes to drive in, another 20 minutes to find a parking spot (trucks and SUVs go up the curb and park on the grass), and it took 40 minutes to get out.

I wanted tennis shoes so I was going to Dicks Sports. I looked in the shoe department and I saw, basketball shoes, court shoes, aerobic shoes, running shoes, trainers, but no "tennis shoes"
So, I ask the guy in charge, "I see every kind of shoe but not tennis shoes, where can I find them?" He says, "Oh, you mean to play tennis in?" I say, "No I want them to watch tennis on TV in them".

Apparently, they don't sell tennis stuff in this huge gigantic sports store. We spent over an hour getting in and out of the mall for nothing.

I bought my 86' Toyota in conditions like that. The first time we went to test drive the truck was frozen in place and would only spin the wheels. I should have recognised the omen and left that piece of junk stuck there. :lemon:

Now that's funny. Driver, there seem to be a lot of Dicks in Florida. If you want to sample the hottest chicken wings around, go to Dick's Wings. I asked for the "really hot wings". They asked me again, you mean "really hot?". Yes. They were! The manager actually came out and asked how I was doing every 10 minutes.

even though it was cloudy, in the 20s and still all icy, I managed to get a test drive in on the private sale 2004 325 I have been trying to see.

Overall, not too bad, but it had some needs. This was a 1 owner car, but came across as a "non car guy" owenr. Just drive it and put in gas.

ran good and shifted well, but needed at least 2 tires (fronts were awful close to the wear bars), brakes were probably going to be due (based on how long ago he though he did them), and there was some shake in the steering wheel and a bit of pulling.

so at minimum, I would be budgeting for tires, brakes, alignment (through in some tie rod ends or some such most likely). It also had quite a bit or wear and tear (owner was not JMonroe to say the least).

My daughter of course was all antsy to just buy it now, but I think I shall try to run down to the dealer with the other 325 I want to see after work tomorrow. Sounds a lot cleaner, and the carfax was good.

I did talk to this guy about getting it in for a PPI, and he might be able to finagle something during the weak, but logistics were going to be a major pain. But, may revisit it.

My rule of thumb, always better to get the used car that the last owner just had to sink a bunch of money into for normal wear out items. Better him then me!

Oh, and in this case, if he had spent the $85 for a written PPI to share, and it was clean, there was a chance I would have done a deal on the spot.

I found Dicks Wings. I don't know if I could copy the wings part of the menu, but they have about 30 flavors plus the temperature you like including "Great Balls of Fire" and "Swamp Fever" wings.
    Here goes;
    WING TEMP
No Heat • Wimpy • Mild • Medium • Hot
Great Balls of Fire • Swamp Fever • Secret Sauce
    WING FLAVORS
    BBQ
    Bourbon
    Cajun Ranch
    Caribbean Gold
    Caribbean Jerk
    Charlie Chan
    Flying Fajita
    Garlic Pepper
    Georgia Girl
    General Dick’s
    Gold Rush
    Honey BBQ
    Honey Mustard
    Italian
    Jamaican Jerk
    Lemon Pepper
    Lime Pepper
    Margarita Ranch
    Parmesan Peppercorn
    Ragin’ Cajun
    Raspberry
    Redneck
    Reggae
    Sesame
    Smokey Mountain Gold
    Sweet & Sour
    Teriyaki
    Triple Threat
    Victory Lane
    Wanna Tee Awanna

Sounds like quite the place.....another reason this is such a great country!

This could be a diamond in the rough, but I don't know. The lack of care and the guy driving it with shaky steering would make me proceed with caution. If you own a BMW you don't want shaky steering......you don't want that much "feel of the road".

That's a killer for BMWs; they require brake fluid flushes every two years, coolant every two or three(using only BMW coolant). Just based on what you said I'd pass...

We're getting a few dealers near here that have their cars inside. I like that.
I'd pay a little more to shop in comfort, winter or summer. Cheapo cars still sit out, but 100 or so are inside. Empire Ford in Abingdon, Va. 60 miles from me, but I'll drive it on a snowy day if that's when I need to buy.

Edmunds is shaky tonight for me. It always finds it's 'cookie' on my machine and auto logs me in. Not just now. Fortunately, I remembered my password and logged in without problem. But it's also lost the cookies that remember where my unread message start. In this forum, it started me up about 200 messages back. I scrolled thru all these back pages and I hope the cookies are reset and everything is better tomorrow.

Funny, the other forums I read didn't seem to lose track....

"No I want them to watch tennis on TV in them".

You mean when you watch football games you don’t wear the jersey and helmet of the team you’re rooting for? I do that and I also insert a mouth piece. Just in case I get too involved and don’t hear Mrs. j calling for help with something then comes storming into the family room and tries to do an uppercut under my face mask.

About that Dick comment, mine was wiped out yesterday. I thought I said something wrong but now I find out that others have had glitch problems too. Mine wasn’t any worse than what you said. Being from north of the border, you can always say we Americans just take things the wrong way. But since you’re here now (even have a house here), talk right. I can see you getting into a lot of trouble here talking like you do. Your neighbors might not be as understanding as we are. :confuse:

I try to reply to a post and it sends me to the log in page. Also, I'll read a reply to a post that doesn't make sense to me because the original post is no longer there. I thought my dues included Quality Control experts. Did the economy cause lay offs in that department? I feel a dues assessment coming our way.
