    Ain't that the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It varies from state to state who has the Farm Bureau insurance sponsorship but GM is honoring it even if Ford or Dodge have it. Here in Oklahoma, Ford has it but GM will honor it. Nobody tells you that except if you ask the dealer. Some Farm Bureau agents will tell you they all are honoring it. I asked all the dealers around here (5) and they all said GM is honoring it. Good luck.

Hey Bob332 why you knocking me I have an order to delivery question. Why when I get the invoice after my truck was special built for me does it have option R6J Captive Fleet-Janesville under options. I have never heard of this option. I would like to know before I take delivery. I have order to delivery question. You better check your invoice for this charge.

have any of you who recently picked up your truck tried opening and closing the rear quarter windows prior to accepting the truck. Reason I asked is the other day when down a the dealers for warranty was looking at a '00 LT indigo blue 4 door. Just out of curiosity opened door and quarter windows. Guess what....yep, got the defective latches. Windows didn't latch quite as well after that. Same with mine. Wished I had checked them prior to accepting...seems like dealer is more willing to help before rather than after acceptance. I don't know about your dealership, but salespeople at mine have NO clout with the Service Dept. My 2 cents. Have a great weekend!!

Picked up my truck yesterday and I tried the latches on the lot. They seemed to open and close ok. How did you know they were the defective latches? Did the windows not close completely?
My only complaint is the material feels kinda cheap.

(wight1)thanks I'll check out those lids. Once I get it figured out I'll post the results.

the latch itself does not close and lock, more like moving to the closed position but no thump or clunk to signify locked position. Second, using just your thumb press on the window. If it moves the latch to the open position while locked or if you can push the window slightly open with the latch locked...it's defective. The one I checked out really didn't latch so when I pressed on it, it flipped the latch and window open. Tried it several times... I know it bugged the heck out of the salesman who was watching. The most annoying way to tell is if you have wind noise coming from them.

Thanks for the info. in your post. I just went out and tried it.

When closing the window there isn't a really strong thump or clunk as you mentioned, but I can't open it or move the window (near the latch)at all when closed. If I move my hand to the top or bottom of the window there is some give. Not enough for me to even squeeze a credit card through.

Sometimes these things seem like the luck of the draw. Hope I stay lucky.

Stvoke, don't be offended, but my original point was correct on post #214 in response to your #188 posting about a $500 Farm Bureau Insurance rebate program being available on GM trucks. Your information on the referenced rebate was and still remains incorrect. The Farm Bureau Insurance $500.00 rebate is only good for Dodge trucks, not for GM, Ford, etc as you have stated in posting #222. My comment regarding this topic being for Silverado and not Dodge was only in reference to you implying that there was a rebate available through Farm Bureau Insurance in the amount of $500 on GM trucks. I mentioned on other subject in my posting to you. That rebate is only good for Dodge trucks just as my response to you stated previously. This particular rebate program is through the American Farm Bureau and each state F.B. Ins. has the same program since the rebate deal is on a nationwide basis and not state by state. If a GM dealer (salesman) says they will honor the program, as you have indicated that some do, then he is not giving you a true $500 rebate as GM will not give the buyer or the dealer the $500. Therefore, it may be a ploy on the part of some dealers or salesmen to make a buyer think they are getting the rebate, when in fact the dealer or salesman is just quoting you a higher price, then deducting another $500 off of your selling price. Do I remember correctly that I read in one of your posting that you use to sell for a dealership? I can appreciate your trying to provide helpful information to all of us who are buying trucks, but in this case part of it was misleading and even incorrect. Sorry for this long posting, but it seemed that it was needed. Bob

What is the best way for me to track my new 2k Silverado. I would like to do this instead of having to call the dealer and wait for their return phone call.

Call gm customer service once a wk

You mean I shouldn't be calling every day like I have been?

But, maybe that's why they are getting my truck built in record time (for a 2500).

I ordered Y2K, LS, 4dr, Z71, with P265/75R-16 All Terrain WOL Tires (order code QGD). My question to anyone is what is the manufacturer of this tire, and what is the tread design. Neither my dealer or Chevrolet has been able to assist me.

I need an aggressive enough tread design to get me out of unimproved boat ramps here in Florida.
  • mledtjemledtje Member Posts: 1,123
GM uses various tire manufacturers, and you won't know which one was used until you see your truck.

The all terrain tires are an AT tread design similar to:

    Goodyear Wrangler ATS
    Firestone Steeltex Radial AT

They should be the most aggressive tread you can get from the factory. If you want/need more you will have to visit a tire dealer.

Are firestones. Just look at the tires when you see a truck thats what the most likely will be

Contrary to what others have replied about your tire question; I think the AT tire is not the most aggressive tire that you can get. The on-off road tire is the most aggressive in my opinion. I had considered both tires before I ordered my truck. I was planning on towing a travel trailer, and traction would be an issue in some locations and seasons. Because so much time would be on highways I chose to go with the AT tire; they are quieter and still give excellent traction. Unless you are going off roading, the AT should be an excellent choice. The brand, as was mentioned earlier, will be determined by the factory. They use several, but it seems that I'm seeing more Firestones than anything else. Good luck

Why don't you try www.webcarbook.com/index.htm and see what that price is. This is the site that the car dealers use. I have priced out a GMC and Silverado both there, and they were dead on with the quote that I got from three different dealers. One in Ky, one in Oregon, and one in Spokane, WA. Give it a whirl, can't hurt....

    Have a nice day... :)

I compared a lot of sources and purchased several booklets on truck prices. I found Edmunds to be correct and an excellent source when I was doing my research in Feb. and March. I would recommend it. Everything checked out to the dollar with dealers when I got price quotes. Good luck. Bob
