Whats the legality of an Employer making an Employee pay fo an accident

Parking a truck with a back end thats 16 ft from the center of the back wheel a pickup that was parked nearby was damaged by the swing of the trucks backend, it was an accident but the company is saying that I have to pay the $3000.00 repair bill, is this legal .

These kinds of disputes are always a legal jump-ball and depend a lot on your state work laws and also what/if you signed any employment contract where you agree to pay for "negligent" action.
My amateur guess is that they can't make you pay for the damage or deduct it from your wages but they can institute other punitive action, and I suppose, even fire you.
I certainly wouldn't agree to pay anything until you've consulted with a lawyer.5
