shatzi, what is the MRSP of your negotiated? $776 Holdback is seems low to me. Is that suppose 2% of MRSP? I am not sure about TDA, but holdback and Whsl. Financial Reserve are definitely dealer's income instead of expense and he is essentailly double dip.
  • xiajiaggxiajiagg Member Posts: 31
Answer my own question, Lexus calculates holdback on BASE MRSP.

Has anyone compared between the Levinson and the standard audio system in the 2008 RX350? Looking for reviews to decide if it's worth the while to get it.
    Any input would be helpful.
    Thanks ahead.

i have the mark levinson system. It is extremely clear and has a great quality sound, as if you are listening t bose radio at home etc
  • freiwill01freiwill01 Member Posts: 14
Thanks khal80. Looks like you've got your RX -- congrats. I'm still working on mine. Here's the offer that I'm going with.

    Offer Price: $40,518 (excluding ttl)

    Total MSRP: $44,071
    Base 2008 RX350 FWD: $37,400
    Navi/Mark Levinson package: $6,190
    Towing Prep Package: $160
    Mudguards: $142
    Cargo tray: $110
    Wheel locks: $69

This is actually a special order because I didn't want all the extra options (heated seats, 18" alloy wheels, rear dvd system) that are normally added to a levinson RX. Target delivery date 4-6 weeks.
  • khal80khal80 Member Posts: 9
not bad, i got the rear entertainment, 18 chrome wheels, and heated seats, all an all the msrp hit 51,000

i didnt think they really got up that high, but i believe the dealerhship helped us out with the trade in and sold the rx for 45 or 44,500 cant remember off the top of my head....

i def do think its alot harder when negotiating with a trade it vehicle, numbers are flying around and deductions are coming from the new car and the trade in is increasing and your constantly calculating whats going on

i also believe you can get a better deal when you go in and want to buy as opposed to working with a salesman over time, this is probably debatable. It also does not help that the dealership cant even keep lexus' on the lot, disadvantage to the consumers, if you wont buy, someone else will

I am looking to purchase a RX 350 soon w/ Premium Package in Charlotte, NC. I wanted to know if anyone has had experiences with the Lexus dealership here. (i.e. good pricing, deals, etc.)What are people paying for a 2007 and 2008 in this area? I need some advice as how I should approach it.

xiajiagg, saw your response to the above on dealer fees. I am working on a fully loaded IS250 for $36,337.75 at a San Diego dealership. This includes "standard" equipment listed as optional (high inten lights and alloy wheels) for $1300 plus $393 TDA, $628 dealer holdback and $314 wholesale financial reserve. Dealer Invoice price is $33,403 and Edmunds shows TMV pricing of $33.5K. How much wiggle room do I have here to counter and are the "optional upgrades" and other dealer fees all profit? Thanks, dmartin

You may wish to read what edmunds.com has to say about this issue:

Sounds like double-dipping on the part of your dealer to me!

I was just given a quote on a 2008 RX 350 awd with nav + dvd drop down, 18-inch 7 spoke wheels with the premium package from manhattan lexus. The term is for 36 months and 12K miles/year. They quoted me at $599/m with $3182.00 down which includes tax, 1st payment, title and reg, inspection, document fee and bank fee. Does this sound like a good deal?
  • whiterwhiter Member Posts: 4
I found an auto broker thru a radio ad, but they are in the yellow pages or on the internet.

The one I went to didn't charge a fee, only $500 above invoice was ALL I paid (plus tax of course), but others do charge a small fee.

    BEWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP!!!
I was quoted an internet price $40,500 + $100 for document fee (+ temp tag, tax) for Lexus RX350 AWD 2008 model with Bradywine exterior color with pemium plus and nav by sales persons (two people) via email. This was going to be an out of state sale. They offered attractive pricing. They also called me several times to tell me that the customer service is extremely good. Several days later I called and left multiple messages for both of them asking them to call me back so that I could put down deposit to reserve the car. They did not call back. Finally, got hold off one of them. He asked me to stop by the dealership. Drove two hours to get to the dealership, could not speak with him. His colleagues told me that they sold all their Brandywine color cars. I told the manager about the extremely unethical behavior of the sales people. Told me that he was sorry, but showed no effort to remedy the situation or interest in changing the behavior of the sales persons. This whole situation cost my pregnant wife and me few hundred dollars for a rental car and four hours on the road.

dmartin5, sorry I didn't reply in time. (I just read your message.) To your question, my research implied that TDA is a legitmate cost for dealer. This one is from Toyota forced onto the dealer. On the other hand, holdback and floor financing reserve are the rebates that toyota gives back to dealer. Therefore, asking you to pay for it is equivalent of double dipping. Regarding to the options, you can ask dealer to show you the window sticker. If it is option, it will have a sperate list/charge. Otherwise, it is standard. By the way, based on my limited experience, edmunds or costco auto's listing of standard/optional features are fairly accurate. Good luck.

Just to follow up, I did pick up a RX350 with MRSP 45,816 for 40,650 plus doc/tax/registration, plus a free lunch, :-), from Ray Catena in Freehold. Very pleasant experience. Very happy about the car, too.

    Hi,
What options do you have on your car ? I think that's the best deal I hear of so far. I have just gotten a deal from Manhattan Lexus for $41500 with Premium Plus, Heated seats with rain-sensing, Tow prep and Navigation. I didn't take the deal yet.
  • xiajiaggxiajiagg Member Posts: 31
x3for3, Pretty much same as what you are looking at, plus 18' wheel.
  • helpemehelpeme Member Posts: 2
we have the same msrp from manhattan and same options i also have dvd drop down 599 month 3182 down.
  • x3for3x3for3 Member Posts: 25
That's an awesome deal, xiajiagg. How do I get the same deal from this dealership? I have to take a stock car or should I mention your name or something?
Is Mark Levinson Sound and Air Suspension no longer available? Thank you for your info.
  • xiajiaggxiajiagg Member Posts: 31
x3for3, send a message to the inbox @carspace. (If you read a few posts before, I think, you can find how, I haven't done it myself.) I will give you all contact I have.

Just got a quote from a dealer thru the phone. He quoted me $41370 OTD with Prem +, no NAV. IS this a good price?
  • s550iwishs550iwish Member Posts: 28
I had the RX350 (2007) w/ nav and DVD. I loved it and i paid about $38-$39k. The car was great until i got in an accident on June 7, 2007. (I didnt even have the car for a year) Well the accident wasnt my fault. This guy came out of a parking lot without looking. I swerved to avoid killing him. But the whole time i was trying to break and the breaks were not working!!!!!! So i hit a HUGE tree on the other side of the road. And my 2007 RX350 was totaled!!!!! The color was flint mica. (CHARCOAL) :(
  • maximafanmaximafan Member Posts: 592
Oh, man, I feel your pain! My accident was similar in my 2002 Maxima. A kid ran a stop sign, ran into the right front quarter panel of my car, causing me to swerve into the oncoming lane, off the road into some three-foot tall poles. It put a big V into the front of my Maxima all the way up to the engine, and cracked the windshield. Both airbags deployed and I got some large contusions on my stomach and my arm and some cut knuckles. The Maxima was totaled.
Thus, this is how I ended up getting the '07 RX though. I tell you what. You've gotta put a capital D in "Defensive driving" these days
'cause people are just not paying attention when they drive anymore!

I was looking at an 08 Rx 350 with Premium Package and Naviagation system. Quoted MSRP was $44216. Dealer discount was $2500 for a net cost of $41,716. This is in the Southeast. Good deal or will the dealer bend a little?

I just got a quote and left a deposit for 2008 RX 350 with navigation. It has MSRP of $45,706, the quote is $41,000 even. It looks like it's only about $240 over invoice and it took me 3 minutes over the phone to get this price as soon as they saw that the car is in stock.
Dealer is in New Jersey (10 minutes from Manhattan)

    Ilya.
  • ilya1ilya1 Member Posts: 9
How about $41,000 even on Prem+ with Nav? The dealer is in New Jersey.
  • dscubadscuba Member Posts: 6
I called South Atlanta too, but found out they have/add a dealer processing fee of $700 :surprise: which is twice as high as anyone else in the Southeast. I bought my ES at Hennessy in Gwinnett after researching numerous dealers in SE. D.C. in internet dept gave me a great price and they have the lowest doc fee I found. Not saying you didn't get a good deal, but South Atlanta fees made their total price higher than others.
  • edelatl1edelatl1 Member Posts: 1
I'm talking to the GM at Hennesey in Gwinnett for an RX350. The doc fee quotes is $389.00 How does that compare to the one you were quoted
  • mgh1mgh1 Member Posts: 10
Which dealer is that? is it englewood or prestige? Thx.
  • ilya1ilya1 Member Posts: 9
The doc fee I have from my dealer in NJ is $199

    Total fees:
    Car $41,000
    NJ Tax 7% $2,870
    4 year registration $365
    Doc prep fee $199
    Tire disposal fee $7

    Altogether it's $44,441

So, if I live in NYC, do I get tax on the NJ tax or the NY tax? I'm just wondering, I'm about to make this purchase and the last time Rockville did quote me at 40,500 but then on this forum, someone had a bad feedback on them, so I'm not sure which dealership i'm heading for. =\ If anything, can you you send me the dealer ilya1, thank you.
  • pschiffepschiffe Member Posts: 373
You pay tax based upon where the vehicle will be registered, for NYC I believe it is 8.375%.

    Pete :)

$389 doc fee at Hennessy Gwinnett is the lowest I found in my research of SE dealers. The highest was South Atlanta.

After driving both vehicles, my wife and I have a difficult choice. Anyone has any comparisons between the two? Acura is offering 2.9% right now, which is very attractive.

Prices on both is very similar.

btw. does anyone know how to create a new discussion?
