stripes. It made a big difference. I didn't really like any of the exterior colors. I settled on the silver. What the heck was that purple color anyway?
Changed out all door speakers to Infinity Kappa Series 6.5" speakers. Added an outboard amplifier and subwoofer that handles the deeper bass frequencies. I replaced factory wheels with 20" wheels riding on 245/35-20 tires and I added repeater turn signals on the front fenders. Oh yeah...tinted the windows with 35% tint.
Next thing to go will be the factory radio...I'll be replacing it with a Pioneer double din unit. I'll have pics as soon as it's done.
You can go to my carspace page and see some of the pics I have so far.
My question is about your tinted windows. I've read a whole lot of posts on Acura boards where TL owners complain that the window mechanism is designed in a way that scratches the tint film off the glass in an ugly way. As a result, reputable installers have to install (actual, I guess) "moleskin" at the gasket, which being a natural material, eventually deteriorates and falls apart.
Do you (or does anyone out there) know whether the Azera has this problem long-term?
As far as the head unit goes...I'm hoping that I'll have that in by this coming weekend, so I'll have pics soon.
Concerning the tint...consider it a non issue. I have had NO issues with the tint getting scratched up in any way. The gasket, being a rubber/silicone material is in no way dangerous to the tint. Most installers use a semi-rigid plastic card to squeege the film and that doesn't scratch it.
The only thing that might happen is if dirt or sand got lodged between the glass and the gasket...that could maybe scratch the tint. One way to avoid that would be make sure you wipe the inner surface of the gasket from time to time when the window is rolled down.
The ones I got were from the shop (Vivid Motorsports of Glen Burnie, MD) where I got my rims. The guy was getting rid of them, so he gave me a good price and I paid for them to install them as well.
I am good with the audio stuff, but don't trust myself with drilling on the body. He set them up to light up solid, but...they blink when the signals are activated as well.
My biggest project will be a custom grill. I don't want the one from dreamka.com that looks like the original, just without the "H". I want mine made out of that chrome mesh that they use in the Jaguar grills...that'll be slick!
If so, how was the install? How does it look? How does it perform? Have you added Ipod adapter?
How is stereo and CD player campaired to Infiniti system?
The mesh it'self...it looks hot on every car I've seen it on, however...I've only seen it on the jags and the 300's.
I can tell you there was a big difference between the factory Infinity speakers in the doors as opposed to the aftermarket Infinity Kappas I replaced them with. The music became crisper, brighter and much cleaner in sound. Granted, the factory speakers were very good, but the aftermarkets were that much better.
If you're truly into your music, you'll always do yourself a favor by upgrading to aftermarket components. If it doesn't matter to you...don't waste the time, effort or the money.

Do they blink with directionals? If so, was seperate relay needed?

Hyundai Azera: Audio (iPod, MP3, etc.)

When I check with some aftermarket suppliers, they indicate that some car models require additional relay to make unit work with directionals
Thanks!

I am thinking of using the Motorola IHF1000, but don't know if the Infiniti sound system has input which mutes the audio system when the cellular phone operates.
Any info would be appreciated
I just received my New Chrome Wheels for my Black Azera yesterday. They are the exact same 17" wheels that came with the Azera only in Chrome. I like them very much. They off set the car nicely and compliment the other chrome on the car. I hope the link to the photos works. What do you think? Thanks for the look. JoeD

I still have been unsucessfull in obtaining a no "H" grille for my sage green Azera.
For the Host. I don't know why but on my computer at work and now at my Home. The photos are still side by side and my follow up reply is also long and has to be scrolled sideways. I don't have a clue as too why. JoeD

Apparently, the only system that is Blue Tooth ready, can accomodate and control Ipod, be connected to steering wheel buttons ( Still questionable), voice controlable is the Pioneer AVIC Z1. With all of the adaptors needed the unit costs about $2000.00 plus installation, which could take as much as 7 hours. Some dash modification might be necessary.
I'm told that the functions are somewhat harder to use than some other systems.
If anyone has gotten different information, kindly post.
I will have to get creative with some fiberglass and other materials to make this work.
I'll keep you posted of any progress!
She also stated that this change COULD effect the warranty.
I'm not certain that the information provided is correct. Has anyone performed this upgrade?
The only reason I can see that the steering wheel would need to be changed would be the wires running to the harness that the controls plug into. The '06 models may not have the extra wiring needed to perform the added functions the controllers in the '07 will perform.
Spoke with shop that claims to have installed many side marker lights.
They charge $60 per hour, and said that average install takes between 1 and 2 hours, depending upon shape and size of holes to be made in fenders.
I still haven't picked which kind of light to use.
I asked Consumer Affairs rep that exact question. Her reply was that if the modification is not a safety related CAMPAIGN, which would be performed by Hyundai at no charge, all other modifications to "as purchased" models COULD affect the warranty. Her example was that if an air bag deployed, it could be as a result of modification. Maybe they are just covering their butts.
Can you please give me some info on the back up sensors.
I do alot of paraell parking and the sensors would be great. Thanks
