Has anyone purchased a non H grille from Korean Auto Imports? They state that they have a mobis hyundai non H grille for Azera in color Sage Green. Dreams4u.com says that Hyundai does not make a non H Azzy grille in Sage Green as the color is for export only, and is not available in the Korean market. Any info would be appreciated.
I'm with ya Bob. Being an engineer, I am so anal that, in today's world of rush...rush...rush, I know that no one will do the job as professionally or clean as me. Based on my feelings and experience, this is why I do everything myself. I have never screwed up a car in over 25 years. Began installing car electronics in Junior High at 14 for the kids in Senior High...fun and some extra cash.
It sounds like you found a great shop to do your work and that they were reasonable considering how long it took to do. It does, indeed, appear that you made a good decision.
I, personally, am not big on side marker lights but we each have our "hot buttons" and mine is electronics. I have installed a state of the art tire pressure monitoring system that displays each tire pressure and temperature individually along with my Sirius radio and my Motorola bluetooth wireless car kit for my cell. The only other mod I am doing is the flashing rear center brake light for added safety and modifying the bulb to an LED for a strobing light effect...very eye catching and I travel over 35K miles a year and want to be seen clearly when stopped.
Enjoy your car my friend. Although problems are highlighted on these forums, which is a great thing from an awareness stand point, I think that 95+ % of Sonata owners are thrilled with their purchase and will buy another in the future. Me...I have my eyes on the hot Azera...what a classy car
Awesome unit. Very high quality and easy to install. I researched and tested a total of 4 brands from SmarTire to AccuTire to PressurePro to Valet and the Route unit was, by far, the nicest and has an awesome display.
My unit has been installed now for about 3 months and I love it. With traveling over 3K miles/month, it's a great peace of mind.
RE:#224 Floridabob, I am interested in the Side Marker Lights from Dream4u who show it on their website. The rim of the lamp looks like it is gray but might be chrome which I would prefer. Which is it?
RE: 235 Neither. What you are seeing is the outer edge of the clear plastic lens where it is attached to the socket. There is no flange on the outside of the assemnly. That was my reason for purchasing these lamps. Other than the bulb socket, there are no openings in the lamp, making it water tight. Remember that there are no wires coming from the lamp socket, as this unit was designed to plug into the OEM wire harness. You must either find a pigtail to plug into socket, which I was unable to do, or modify the socket assemply by attaching wires. The second option is what I did. Once I determined out how to attach the wires, the wiring part went easily.
Stopped by an Ace Hardware the other day and picked up a First Alert "Recreational" unit (rated 5-B:C). It fits with room to spare in that cubbyhole in the trunk where the cargo net came packed...
Allmet, Thanks for the pictures. I have two wires coming from my new side markers, one white and one black. It appears from your pictures that I will have to go into the wiring harness just before it plugs into the rear of the light cluster pod. Could yoy possibly give me the color coding of the outer(turn signal)wires in the harness? Thanks.
RE: 239 White and brown are the colors to connect the side markers if you want them to be on when your lights are on, and flash when you use your directionals.
Thanks for all the info Bob. I understand now what is involved. I will wind up with either the '07 sideview mirrors or the side markers. There will have to be some detetive work on the wiring to see how the LEDs could be connected. There doesn't seem to be an appropirate wire in the mirror connector now.
I have installed aftermarket LED turn signal mirrors in the past. If you go with an 07 mirror, you will have to run a wire from the mirror through the door and into the dash area where the wire will be spliced into your turn signal wiring under the steering column. The wiring diagram can be found on the HMASERVICE website. It took me about an hour per mirror in the past but I have not performed this on an Azera.
The hardest part of the entire installation was fishing the wire through the rubber gromet in the door that leads into the passenger compartment. Some pretty tricky fishing but it can be done with patience. The side markers will be a much easier installation wiring wise but, as you already know, it will involve drilling holes in your car which is not the case for the mirrors.
I, personally, like the mirrors better as they are far better at alerting drivers than side markers are but the side markers give the car a European look so it all boils down to what you want to spend and what you are looking to get out of this. If it's safety, get the mirrors. If it's European looks, get the side markers.
RE: 242 I was going to go the side mirror route, but I was concerned about the matching color and the total cost. The euro lights do look good, and actually emit plenty of flashing side light to warn others. The advantage of the mirrors is that it will turn your car closer into an 07. The advantage of the euro lights is that nobody can figure out what kind of car you are driving, especially if you have debadged and added other toys.
You're right Cableguy06...the side markers definitely give the Azera more of a Euro flair. I wanted to go with the led side mirrors at first, but the price steered me away. I had seen the side marker lights on the side of a BMW and really liked the look. So...when I went to the shop to get the new rims, they had the side markers I ended up with and the rest is history.
I also added a shark fin antenna to the rear edge of my roof and now it looks more like a BMW than ever.
I had a conflict of information between Korean Auto Imports and Dreama4u regarding the non H replacement grill in Sage Green. Dream says that because Sage Green is not a color sold in Korea, Hyundai Mobis does NOT make the grill. Korean Auto Imports claims that they can get the Mobis OEM grill in Sage Green. Who to believe?
Considering they are two different vendors...I would believe what Korean Auto Imports says. The owner may have someone that paints them for those that get ordered in the sage green color. Best way to find out is to send an email and see what you get back.
Well...if he's saying he can deliver a sage green grille, then why wouldn't you believe him? I mean...he would only be hurting his own credibility if he couldn't. I've chatted with the owner (James) of KAI a few times and the guy seems to be genuine with a strong desire to provide a top notch product.
RE: 251 Just got a return call from Korean Auto Imports. They have found out that they can no longer get the non H Azera grille in Sage Green. I guess that ends my grille replacement project.
You can always purchase it, then go to your local Hyundai dealer and order the paint and then take it to a local body shop to be painted. Yes, it adds a couple steps to the whole process, but if it's something you really want...that won't get in the way. Considering you can't get it in the color you want, maybe...they'll be willing to cut you break on the price for the black one.
I brought the grill from KAI, but couldn't get in Steel Gray, so I ordered custom paint from "Expresspaint". Cost about $35 for an 11oz aerosol and clearcoat. Paint went on without a problem, looks excellent and matches well. Good to get the big H off the grill, sharpens up the front end quite a bit.
OOps hit the entry button too soon. There is a black Azera shown on the Korean Auto parts page that depicts the chrome door pillar covers installed. It looks like there are eight chrome pieces (4 per side) installed rather than the six as advertised. It looks like the extra piece fits parrallel to the rear door rearmost strip and covers the black piece on the little window. James at Korean Auto says he only sells the six piece set and offered no explanation for the installed photo. Are my eyes deceiving me?
The car you speak of is shown on the cardomain site. I chatted with the owner and she said her boyfriend ordered those chrome pieces off of ebay. I believe the picture just represents how the Azera will look with the chrome pillar pieces.
Just for next time, you always have about thirty minutes to edit or delete any post you make. Hitting Enter instead of Tab after typing a title is a mistake I often make as well, and I'm sure we're not alone!
Floridabob, Thanks for the color codes. I just finished the installation. One problem. On the driver's side I connected my white wire to the brown wire in the wiring harness and my black wire to ground(a fender nut). Works perfectly, that is, it blinks with the pod turn signal. I hooked it up the same way on the passenger side and it doesn't blink, just stays on. Any ideas? Maybe I should have connected my white wire to the pod's white wire on the passenger side?
You may have connected them to the constant hot wire. Mine are wired to come on with the parking lights, however...they blink with the signals as well. Unfortunately, I didn't do the wiring...so I can't tell you what wires were used.
RE: 264 Each side should be wired alike, The two wires from the new light should be wired as follows. One to the white harness wire and the other to the brown harness wire. I could give you the reasoning, but it really doesn't matter.
RE: 267 Look on pillar on drivers side front door. It will give both exterior and trim codes. If you are having paint shop do job, may I ask what the charge is?
Has anyone been able to determine if 06 radio head is different from 07, or is it only a software change that allows more remote functions? Also, who is the manufacturer of the radio head? There have been conflicting reports.
Today I mustered the guts to drill two holes in my hood for the Mobis hold emblem. With the debaged Korean grille, my white '06 Azera now looks like the one shown at the Soul Auto Show. Maybe the '07 outside mirrors will be next.
I dont have a picutre of my car but you can see it if you search for "Seoul Auto Show". I think it might be an '07 that is shown because it also has the LED side view mirrors.
I wondered if anyone else likes the rear light strip that replaces the reflector strip that runs all the way across the rear of the car. It looks pretty cool to me. Maybe I'll put it on my wish list.
The replacement light strip for the trunk lid can be bought from Korean Auto Parts. http://www.koreanautoimports.com/ I corresponded with James asking if the lights would appear the same as the stock tail lights at night. He said he had no pictures showing both his light strip with the tail lights and has not seen one. I would not want the strip to look brighter or different than the stock lights.

What kind of tire pressure monitos did you use?

Both claim they are getting the finished product from Hyundai Mobis.
Just got a return call from Korean Auto Imports. They have found out that they can no longer get the non H Azera grille in Sage Green. I guess that ends my grille replacement project.
I would guess that the paint shops would charge at least $200 to shoot the grille.
Is the grille the exact type as the original, weight and quality wise?
My grille arrived the same way and matched perfectly. It took me about an hour to swap grilles.

Each side should be wired alike,

One to the white harness wire and the other to the brown harness wire. I could give you the reasoning, but it really doesn't matter.
Look on pillar on drivers side front door. It will give both exterior and trim codes.

They didnt call it an AUTO show. My error.
