Radial tires tend to get a "Set" wear pattern over a period of time due to the direction they have been rolling.
As a result, a lot of tire shops have started simply shifting the tires between front and rear, instead of the old "X" rotation.
I would suggest the next time your tires are rotated that you mark them with a black marker, before the rotation is done. Ask for front to rear rather than "X". That way a tire you marked RF should be on RR and visa versa after the rotation.
I recently had Ford buy back my Ford. I also live in CA. By law, you should have the info about the lemon law in your manual. Snippet: The vehicle is automatically a lemon and has to be bought back without arbitration if any one of the following is true: 1. the vehicle was in service for different inconsistencies for 30 days or more non consecutive days in the first 18 months. 2. The vehicle had a defect that had to be repaired 4 or more times. (18 mo) 3. The vehicle had a life threatening defect that had to be repaired 2 times or more. The consumer has the choice of accepting a replacement vehicle or a check.
The way to trigger the process is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Auto Line. DO IT. Sometimes the settlement could be a free extended warranty or other perks, if your car is not a clear cut lemon.

I had a '91 Ford Escort GT. Powertrain was fine, but interior bits and pieces fell off in my hands on a daily basis.
That was 16 years ago and one example - does that mean Fords of today are junk?
If so, then I counter with an 86 Tempo that went 140K in 7 years and a 93 Escort that is still on the road (passed down to the 4th extended family member) with close to 200K with no major issues or parts falling off. And gasp - the latter was it was made in Mexico!!
How does the 2007 CRV do on hills? I live in Albuquerque right now, but I may be moving back to Seattle in the near future. I am concerned about how the CRV would do in the hills of Seattle and I don't quite have the same type of hills in Albuquerque to test the CRV.
I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and my 2007 CR-V does great. No problem what so ever. The transmission does a good job of automatically downshifting when more torque is needed and one of my favorite features is something called brake assist that will keeep a constant speed going down the mountains avoiding riding the brakes.
Thank you for the feedback. I was especially concerned about downtown Seattle so it is nice to know that the hills won't be a problem. I also had not heard about the brake assist on mountains. It sounds like I have nothing to worry about.

woohooo...glad I got the 07 because that power seat, I was going around in circles with the Rav 4 . It was almost a comedy to see me try and go light on my touch, the seat goes up, not good enough, press back, goes too far back. And then the lumbar, nope, that didn't feel right, nope now I am ramrod straight.
Can you imagine sharing that car with my teen ready to drive who is 6 ft tall and little me? I'd have to adjust the darn thing everyday! No thanx...
I purchased a 2007 CR-V for a tow vehicle for a motorhome. After only 1,500 miles of towing, all four brakes and the front calipers had to be replaced. The front wheels got so hot that they melted the calipers. Neither the Honda dealer, RV dealer nor supplemental brake manufacturer can determine the problem.
Anyone else had a similar problem? If so, what is the fix?
I don't have any schematics for the CRV, but wondering whether if any of the braking systems are 'powered up' when the ignition is off or in the unlocked steering wheel position, that the wheel sensors are detecting wheel movement and maybe VSC trying to brake.
I didn't know it was OK to tow an Automatic Honda with all 4 wheels on the ground. I was under the impression a dolly was necessary for the 2wd and a trailer for the 4wd models. Otherwise severe transmission damage would occur.

You are saying you are applying braking to the CR-V with a supplemental device, when towing, and the brakes are burning up. How does the braking device work, ie how is it physically attached to the Honda brake system?
Clearly, the supplemental braking system was applying brake pressure when it was not supposed to. All things being equal, it is the one logical conclusion under these circumstance.
Not everyone wants to PAY for such a large SUV when a compact one will do, either.
I drive a family car, but am a single young man. I didn't instantly get a wife and kids when I got the car. You won't gain extra estrogen and a higher pitched voice when you buy a CR-V. It's a car, not something by which you should be defined.

Sounds like you have hard time differentiating what is manly and what is not. Any vehicle with automatic, be it regular auto, or manumatic, paddle shifter, or what not, is a girly car. A Corvette/Mustang with auto is a girly car.
So, if you find an SUV with a stick shift, like mine, you are driving a girly car, and might as well make it pink. No clutch makes it a girly car.

Yes, Steve, I've been shopping for an '08 CR-V EX-L 4WD w/Navi for over a week now. Our local dealer here in Louisville called yesterday to tell us the '08s have arrived but I haven't called back to make an appointment yet. Not much pricing information available yet on what folks are paying for the 08's. I'll report back with any offers I get.

I went to nearest autozone, hit their clearance area and found really good stuff for a few dollars. And because for once in my life I got myself a chick car, wooo, not saying CRV is chick car, saying this is MY car so I could decorate all in pink if I chose to :shades: I got Betty Boop all weather mats. Good price at autozone as well. Maybe about the price of that $80 you showed on ebay. Then I bought clear plastic mat and cut up for the center seat area.
Then at Target I found nice tissue box for the doors, some cup coasters to go in cup holder. At target, I got mom's helper type trash bags and organizers....
have fun shopping most of all and know you can really customize to you, not just get ugly greys and blacks. Of course, had it been dh's choice, black it would be all around, down to the color of the car...
I bought the rear cargo tray from McNeil products. They always advertise in the car magazines. It fits perfectly and it came in tan to match the interior. I plan on buying their rubber winter mats too. Glad to see the thread is back on track.
I purchased the factory floor mats for my 07 CR-V last November. These mats are very rugged and durable and fit perfectly into the CR-V.
I would go with the factory brand, they are not too much more. I have had bad experiences with non-factory accessories on vehicles in the past. These companies may say they fit perfectly with your car but rarely do.
A warning about Honda's all-weather mats for the CRV is in order, they scuff easily. The tan colored mats become marred with shoe scuff marks and look just plain dirty after a only few days. And the marks don't come off easily.
Since the factory mats are light weight and don't look like they'll last long, any recommendations would be appreciated.
My black-grey interior is nice, but for one thing...The carpeted floor and floor mats hold grass (dried blades) in a death grip. Vacuuming doesn't seem to pull them away when they've been gripped by the soft fabric of the floor and mats.
I've used a hard-bristled scrub brush to loosen them but I was wondering if anyone else had found a better way to loosen them so that they can be vacuumed.
I was thinking of going with the all-weather floor mats; atleast then I just have to concentrate on the grass blades that embed on the side where the floor turns up to meet the door sill.
On the Vacuum hose I use the long flat tool that is designed to reach into crevices. Just scrub side to side. It takes a while. The only other option would be a narrow head with a rotating brush like used in the house. But smaller!
Seems I saw something, hand held, with a rotating brush at one of the Auto stores or maybe it was at Wal-Mart automotive.
My Dyson "Animal" with its pet hair removing revolving brush, its crevice tool and the plain ol' hose all fail to get that thatch out of the clutches of the carpeting.
So when I get a chance, I'll shift to the all-weather mats.

With kids it's hopeless, the carpets will stain. I cut some remnants to fit, and plan on replacing that every year or so. :sick:
