composite bed - all hype???
kyle
I seen an over the rail line-x this past weekend at work and it looked real nice dont let anyone talk you out of it. It looked like the truck had bedrail caps couldnt even tell it was a spray in.
Oh that dodge 5.9 (dakota) aint crap. I left one sitting at a stop light this morning.
I do have a noise coming from it sounds like my steering wheel. It comes and goes wierd kinda like a buzzing static noise. Any ideas on what could be the problem???
Ryan
Check the Kelley Blue Book at KBB.com.
My 99 Silverado was $16,000 wholesale (3 dealers all the same as kbb.com) while the retail was $21,500. I'll either keep it or try to sell it on my own.

Bed mats suck when you wanna put a pallet of bricks, concrete, or shingles on someones truck it just gets pushed up to the front. The drop ins are the best for loading pallets with a forklift spray ins kinda make the pallet stick and seems to wanna grab and stay where u drop them.

I think it's do to not changing your oil....better get it done ace!!
..How did the tire pressure adjustment go ?
- Tim
Driving slow/fast - I usually only get 16mpg running 80. This last tank, I went on a backroads adventure, with a couple of hundred elk that kept wanting to run out in front of me and I currently have 550 miles on the last tank, average speed was more like 60 with lots of panic slowdowns. Suspect will get more like 17 to 18 mpg at these slower speeds. (4,8L 4.10LS, 5speed 4wd)
Tire pressure is great i hear this loud grinding noise sounds like metal against the pavement when i am driving.
Tim in not a total moron (a lil maybe) i know how to check tire pressure. Mines fine dont worry.
Heres one you know Tim M.Y.O.B.
Or B.Y.O.B. which ever you prefer.
Pretty good idea, kinda the KISS principle. Was in one of this months 4wd rags.....

LOL
- Tim
NO i didnt even think about trying it.
Ryan
WE have to have that bash just so i can meet you.
well, anyways, thanks for the advice ray, but i do want to protect my bed - half the paints already gone from sliding stuff in and out. as for why i want over the rail, no i don't plan on sitting stuff on top of the rail (until i get a cap), but i do frequently slide stuff over the rail. by the way, your advice is kinda interesting too. something along the lines of: don't get the over the rail, it'll never match the exquisite paint. and then turn around and say...don't worry about the bed, IT'S A TRUCK. well...kinda contradictory there. but i know what you're trying to say though. the only reason i wouldn't get an over the rail is if someone tells me between now and next month that OTRs are not compatible with caps - and has a legit reason why not.
ryan - haven't tried the photo site yet. i just changed the oil, i'm going back out to take some pics, i'll be back later to see if i can get them posted. thanks...
kyle
Also, if the truck bed ever needs body work and re-painting after a wreck, then it is more likely that an OTR will need both re-painting and re-spraying than a UTR will.
Larry
you can check my truck out at http://www.picturetrail.com/kanton
there are a couple of pictures of the line-x

So today just went to Chevy dealer that have car ordered from and will turn in tomorrow they will
apply as credit when pick new one up in
Bowling green KT in August. They will get
to use my money for 3 months but I save a lot
on taxes (luxury tax). The model have (had) just
hasn't caught on in the states, most guides
don't even quote a price.
I'd like to see the scratches that load of bricks leaves ...
Richard
hasn't everyone learned yet??....Drop ins man..drops ins!
LOL
..If I had to get a spray in....I would get a Line X...as they seem harder than a Rhino....and just look so much cleaner and better texture

My Silverado with 22k miles on it has 2k more value than a comparibly equipped Tundra with average miles (15k). My Silverado is a 99. The Tundra is a 2000 model.
I have had a few irritating issues to deal with on my Silverado, but overall, in comparible miles driven, it is still the best truck I have ever owned, including the few imports I have had.
Not knocking any make here. All this is just to say that your truck isn't getting hit any more than any other make truck and probably, knowing GM usually has a higher resale value, it is most likely getting less of a hit than other makes.
The only other truck I would consider, as far as 1/2 ton trucks, is a Ford. They build a quality truck as well. Decision between the two would be purely cosmetic in my eyes.
Has anyone else experienced and thing similar with their truck?
Ryan
I asked one of the service reps at my dealership about this & he said that every 5.3 he has driven makes that noise at start up.

p.s. Ryanbab, NBA Championship......Lakers over the pacers 4-2.
If the cap rubbed the paint off of the truck rails, then it was not installed properly in the first place. Second, when it comes time to sell the truck or remove the cap permanently, then add plastic or aluminum rail protectors to cover any damage. Third, if body work is needed, it is easier to replace rail protectors than to re-spray the liner. Fourth, liner damage on the rail, is more of an eye-sore than in the bed, whereas add-on liners can be replaced if needed. Fifth, aluminum rail protectors provide better protection than the liner.
On the last point, I recently saw a RV'er who didn't get the 5th wheel hitch latched and he had the trailer drop onto the bed rails. With a hitch weight of about 1000 lbs, this did no damage to his aluminum rail protectors or the bed rails even though the un-protected tail gate was rendered un-usable. He avoided an expensive trip to the body shop, just had to get a new tailgate at the junk yard. An over the rail liner doesn't provide the same protection.

to those of you who do your own services, please check out this website and tell me if you've found any more lube points under the front end.
to those of you who don't, but want to...this should get you started on where to look. as i get more info or find more, i'll update this site.

They work great and look very nice. I kinda lied though in the rear very bottom under the Z71 sticker there is dirt so it did throw some dirt up im still trying to figure out where it came from. My nerf bars havent been nicked or scratched yet i think the mudflaps have helped to prevent this. Give the site a try if you are looking for a very nice looking and functional mud flap they even have special made ones for the gm factory fender flare.

incidentally, it was a digital camera. but not mine. borrowed it. i like it a lot, but it's really expensive. gotta pay off my truck and get my wife a new car (possibly a truck now, she likes mine so much) before i can consider something like that.
kyle

There are two posts gone...one was mine...(which wasn't that bad)....but I missed the other one..
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I have some real nice SS flaps for the front...match the SS boards real good....I have yet to put them on. It would have stopped slush coming up onto the boards...and splashes on the fenders...but I like the open look better...
We will see if I ever use them?
Maybe I will hold them up and snap a picture....and see what yawl think?
- Tim
But I don't normally speak southern...

My dealer just called me to say he got 3 allocations for 2000 2500's. Still do not have the 325hp 6.0.
