Hi all-my 17 year old son keeps forgetting to put his seat belt on. Is there any way I can add a chime or a louder alarm? We bought the truck (2002 GMC Sierra) used, and I think the chime has been disabled....Does anyone know how to turn it back on or make it really loud? Can I add an aftermarket seat belt alarm? Thanks!

You might check to see if the wires going to the seat belt receptacle on the floor have been unplugged or cut. That's what some people do. The dealer may know of a procedure to able/disable but alas, I can't find it.

I would be prone to providing some serious remedial training.

With a stick. Or, removal of driving privileges. No excuse for being in any vehicle without a seat belt fastened. By the age of 17, it should be second nature, whether driving or not. Seems doubtful he is "forgetting".
