Yes, it's possible to swap out captains for bench seats. I have never done it, but this thread has people that have. I have a BLACK LEATHER 60/40 BENCH SEAT for a 07 Tahoe that I would like to swap for same color captains chairs. Email me at scottv@verathon.com if anyone would like to coordinate a swap. I did the buckets to bench swap several months ago, it is a simple, 8 bolt job. Everything bolts right in to the same holes
You will need 2 people because the bench is so bulky
I actually kept my buckets (Grey Leather)
Although the grey leather seating surface matches, the carpet on the back of the bench seat is black vs my original grey. Thats the only reason I kept my buckets. When I go to sell, I will probably replace the buckets and then re sell my bench
Just make sure you are doing an apples to appples swap (Tahoe/Yukon to Tahoe/ Yukon or Suburban/XL to Suburban/XL)

I'm looking for two grey cloth seats. Two front seats or two second row single seats would be great. I would even consider seats from a salvage vehicle if the seat were usable. My 1999 Suburban is the older style so seats from a 1996 to 1999 would probably work. Please let me know if you have some or know where I could find some or even just a suggestion would be helpful. My plan is to remove my second row bench seat to install two 'captain' seats there.

I have a 2009 Tahoe and the driver's seat is facing to the left a few degrees. It is not extremely noticeable but on a ling trip, it gets uncomfortable because you are not sitting squarely against the seatback. Is this an issue with my vehicle only or is it this way on all Tahoes? Is there an adjustment that can be made to straighten the seat?

I spoke with a couple Chevrolett service if they can do the job labor of changing the seat on the tahoe, and they said they dont because it breaks the manufacture warranty on the car and its safety. They dont want to take any liability chances. If that is so, I might have a hard time selling this car when the time comes.
I sure would like to change the seat, but due to that, I have to decline then. I'll just have to wait out one or two years, and swap this car. :-(

I have a 2000 Suburban 1500 LT with the second row 60-40 bench. We are redoing the interior and I was thinking about swapping the bench for two captains. I have the tan leather bench. Since we are thinking of recovering all of the seats, I do not think that getting two captains in a different color really matters. First, is it possible, and second, anyone interested? I did the swap to a bench last year and have apair of grey buckets, but I am holding on to them
Since you are looking for buckets you should have an easier time than vice versa

Look onn Ebay and craigslists, as wel as here, you will find it

Its a simple swap by the way (2 people required becaue of the bulk)

Looking for either a repair kit or replacement part for the lid to the center console / jump seat back on my '02 Tahoe. This same part is used on 99-06 Tahoes and Silverado front seats with the folding jumps seat.

Dealer will only sell the entire seat back assembly at $450.00, when I only need the plastic lid part which snaps together and can be removed in minutes by sliding out the hinge pin.

Looked all over the internet and cannot find anything. Tried re-gluing the hinge spools but they just re-broke.

From what I have found by calling salvage yards and reading on the net this is a pretty common problem, and when a yard has one it usually goes pretty quick.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We have 2 gray leather 2nd row captains chairs in our '02 suburban and are looking for a bench seat. We are in Iowa, but would be willing to do some driving if this works out. I can send pictures Monday. I'd have to inspect them,but they are in good condition to the best of my knowledge. Congratulations on your babies!

Hey jarheadpilot82, do you still have your bench seat? I live over in NE Alabama (by the GA/TN line). I am in pretty desperate need for a bench seat, and would love to trade my captains seats. They are in great condition and are TAN. My suburban is a 2001, so they should match up.... I would assume. Please respond on here, and then we can try to communicate in other ways.
