Can I use bigger wheels?

I want to know ican I put 215/50ZR17 7Jx17 ET45 wheels on my toyota matrix xr it came with 205/55R16 89H 6.5Jx16 ET40.

    BMW uses those two sizes on early 2000 models.

    They give 205/50-17 as the alternative size.

    From a math standpoint, I think BMWs numbers are closer.

    "They" say that up to 3% difference in size is acceptable, so you're just in range there. But your speedometer and odometer will be off that 2.4%.

    I agree, in your case it's a question of test-fitting the new tires to see if there's enough clearance issues, especially with either turning or going over bumps.

    I would just stay with 16 inch rims. They look good, and you will have more tire choices. If you really want to upgrade, I strongly recommend checking the wheel/tire weight combo and the overall diameter.
