My last Dodge the tranny went out at 58,000. I paid $500 for the warrenty of 5/60,000. The tranny bill was $560. Considering the warrenty was added to the loan, I probably paid more than $60 in finance charges but I did not have to come up with $560 when it broke.
I'm living in Germany and try to buy a Dakota QC/4x4/white/shorted springs/big tires(275)/black leather/CD Radio/sliding rear window/ aso.
I would like to find a dealer in US.
Coming via Dodge home page, I can't get contact.
Can somebody help me????
Many thanks, Klaus
at my dealership, and he told me that under agreement with Dodge (Daimler/Chrysler) a U.S. dealer may not sell overseas. In order for you to purchase a vehicle from a U.S. dealer, you would have to come here, have a U.S. address and valid insurance as well as paying all taxes. It does not sound as if it would pay you to do all this. I will include the web site for my dealer as well as the name of the Dodge Truck manager. The web site is (click on it) www.reedman.com and the manager's name is Joe Natriello. Hope this helps. Please feel free to join us on the Dodge Dakota owner's club. It can be accessed via the conferences window on the left hand margin near the top of each topic listing page. Good luck and feel free to E mail me if you need other information.

Good luck.

E-mail me at rde@usa.com re:residual
Years ago I got a Corvette at the same way. In this time I had somebody in NY handling the deal.
You know it could be also a "used car" if he has my selected options. If your dealer could send to me broch. and the option list with prices I would come back with an featured config.
May be you will ask him.
Many thanks in advance, Klaus

Thanks for the help
Remember the difference between the "Added Care" and the "Max Care" is "Max Care" includes trip interruption protection.

If your "around town" does not mean "stop-n-go"
and you are comfortable with a clutch then go with the 5.55 ratio to achieve the best MPG.
If you are willing to 'sacrifice' some (hitherto unknown) MPG hit. The 3.92 will give you more 'zip' in the accelleration and reduce clutch wear under all conditions.
Truly occasional towing will make little difference in your overall 'drive time' thus should not be a big concern when selecting a differential ratio.
The 2000 models MANDATED a LSD rear-end when the 4.7 with 5speed tranny were selected. Is this still the case?
KnK
I know that when the gas tank gets very low,(Hardly any weight on rear wheels) my rear tires will 'spin' in the first 2 gears using moderate accelleration. (And I have a fiberglas cap on my rig that adds some pounds!) Without the LSD, I would expect this to be much worse.
I would probably purchase LSD in my next truck, but I was alot less knowledgeable back then than I am now. I think LSD is probably the right choice, but nothing I would run out and change, yet...
Other than that, I love the truck.
I'm getting ready to trade in my 98 extended cab for a quad and am curious what other interior surprises are in store. I've driven several of the 2000 quads but not been back lately to look over the 2001.
Thanks,

For those about to buy, I would consider the 2000. My dealer offered mine at invoice minus the $750 factory rebate (which doesn't seem to be well advertised). They seemed really anxious to move the 3 or 4 '00s that they had left. I negotiated the price I wanted and signed the paperwork and was told that I could get 9.5 APR through Chrysler on a Friday. Over the weekend I got approvals for 8% from 2 banks. I went back to pick up the truck and was told that the APR would be 10.49% and so the total price was adjusted to compensate. Little did they know that I was going to turn around and refinance at a lower rate with the lower price that they just so graciously gave me. I bought from the lot, so I didn't get exactly what I wanted but I'm sure happy with the price. This is my third Dodge (Ram, Durango) and I think the QC is the best of both worlds. It was the best experience I had buying a Dodge. I guess I just found the right dealer.

Would enjoy a reply asap.
Last question, does anyone know anything about Dodge and bad transmissions? Is it true, that they don't have the strongest trany's around and have had problems with them in the past?... Kind of worried about that.
none of the so-called domestic truck makers have sterling reputations when it comes to automatic transmissions. go with what you like the most.

I like to look at these sort of things as positive; you know Daimler Chrysler being right on top of anything and everything. To me the glass is half full.
Allen-
If you look at http://www.driveoff.com they show the leather interior option on the 2001 Dak QC.
They did not have the prices in yet last I saw, but I have heard that it goes for around 500.
Also, if you go to the clubs section here, & look at the QC pictures forum, someone posted pictures of their quad with the leather interior.
Good luck with the salesmen.
"An uplevel seat trim where leather upholstery may cover the entire seat or only the seating surface that comes in contact with the passenger. Common leather types include Nappa, Connolly and Coach." Hope this helps.

I too was comparing the F150 and the Dakota QC. In fact I did a lot of research on all 4 door pickups, not just ones out now but those coming out later this year. Can't make the decision for you, but I love my DQC! In comparing, if you haven't did so already, go to Yahoo autos or a similar area where you can do a side by side comparison. I was really surprised at how close the interior sizes are. From looking at the Ford from the outside I would have thought they would be a lot bigger.
Also, about sales people. I found that after some basic researching, I knew more than they did when I walked on the lot. One even tried to tell me you can't believe what you find on the internet. Maybe not everything, but I'll take 4 out of 4 resources agreeing on a subject on the internet over one sales person any day!
Goodluck, DQCinOKC
I purchased a 2001 QC early last month. Was able to get for invoice +$300. Basically was offered invoice on 2000 QC. Shopped serveral dealers, but did most negotiating at 3 Mid Cities dealers here in DFW. Allen Samuels, Don Davis, and Auto Nation Irving (old Fred Oakley dealership).
Auto Nation: Were I bought. Low pressure, but not very knowledgable sales. Really learned what I needed here on Edmunds. Finance people pulled usuall stunts. Especially watch out for Theft protection package they try to add on. Be firm and you should be able to get what you want. Auto Nation also now owns the Bledso dealerships in Grand Prairie and Garland. May give you a little more inventory to choose from as 2000 inventories are getting low.
Don Davis: Sales same as above, just didn't have the vehicle I wanted. Parts and service departments are very good. Also found the accessories (custom/make ready shop) to be very outstanding. Have purchased accessories there rather the Auto Nation. Could be a good place to buy.
Allen Samuels: My advice is to stay as far away as possible. Worst car buying experience I have ever had. Sales manager must weight 500 lbs. Wonder what he is full of.
Hope this helps.
Love my Dakota by the way.

subtract $4500 from that price. Remember here you
are dealing with a 1 model year old used vehicle and a dealer who is full of crap! Why do I say that?
#1 if the vehicle was sold it had a title
transfer.
#2 if it has 1,700 miles it is a used vehicle
#3 if it was owned by a couple of people in the
end phase of a relationship it was probably not
treated with the respect a new vehicle should.
#4 if titled and used it is not eligible for the
$750 rebate. Dealer may be giving you $750 off but
I bet it is not from Chrysler. If it is I would
suspect it was a DEMO (define demo. Well since this isn't the car we are buying, lets see what this baby will do. Demo=abused) If it was a demo now we have proved the dealer lied.
#5 price sounds pretty close to invoice for a New vehicle as described.
I would suggest you find another truck and another
dealer. Of course I could be wrong but the story
sure sounds like Bull to me. Rick
