$510/mo. for 7.5K , $522 for 10K and $533 for 12K. Not too much difference.

He said that in the end, overage fees are about the same as buying miles up front.

I spoke to the the salesperson again today, he said:

$0 Due at signing. ($1482.34 Tax, title, fees included in payments)
Balance is $41809.34
36 months at 7.5K/yr is $592
48 months at 7.5K/yr is $551
47% Residual on 4yr; 57% on 3yr.
2.12% on 3yr, 2.92% on 4yr. Money factor (converted).

The MF sounds too high? He said that the MF and residual are set nationally.

I was playing around with the Autofi site. The sales person sent me a link for the car that we fist looked at and payments based on credit score stay the same from 900-601.

He said he couldn't plug in the exact car that we're looking at because it's at another dealership but there one that is very close in price at his dealership and can play with the numbers on it and it will be very close.

On a lease, there is no "balance". You need the adjusted CAP cost.
If the $1482 is rolled into the CAP cost, then it will be reflected in a higher number.

There are so few dealers in the San Diego area. I wanted a specific model. The only one I found was 135 miles away in Santa Monica. They're bringing it down tomorrow. What would be a reasonable APR?

The APR and residual isn't set nationally like the salesperson said? He made it sound like he had no control of it.

The base APR is set by the bank, but dealers can mark it up for increased profit. (which they have)

The correct residual for 48/7.5 is 49%, not 47%.

The marked up APR, along with the incorrect residual, adds nearly $50/mo.

Dealers cannot use the incorrect residual. I'd get that straightened out, first.
Then, tell them you don't want a marked up APR.

I shopped a couple of other dealers. They both said MF is just over 2% on 48 month term. Only my local guy would go 48 months though.

Should I walk if he tries to stick me with 2.9% on a 48 month lease?

Thanks again for your input. Turns out that the $551 was including tax (which I've never seen in a dealer quote in their breakdown) and the residual was 49% like you said. 2.9% has got to be higher than that set by LAFS.
