ARE YOU THREATENING ME and my forum? Please dont. We have had 84 posts in like what 3 or 4 days? I think this place is pretty popular.

How can you say we arent staying in the vicinity of trucks? Red has now found grill inserts he was looking for. As long as 1 person was helped i am very happy.

Tim my employer doesnt pay for school. I go to school at night 8-10pm 3 days a wk.

You know why you lose money in a savings account? How much interest do you make. 2. something %? The inflation rate is like 3% so if your savings account interest rate is less than the inflation rate which im sure it is your losing money. Teacher said might as well take it out now and go downtown and have a good time. I pretty much already spent all my money when i bought my TRUCK (look i said truck so im on the topic).

Tim- guards were supposed to be in but the kinda tricked me and said they could get them in 2 days so i would come in and then they would tell me itll be a minimum of 2 wks which has gone and passed.

Hopefully this place will still be here in the near future if not theres always other places.

while savings accounts are low interest...your truck lost more money already than the account would have...but we have had this talk...and i respect your actions...just me and Oby would have done different..

    end of talk

Your talking about depreciation now ( i have a test on that monday) that all plays into it too. Where to put your money is the hard part. I was just stating that savings account lose money (come on man i learned this first hand yesterday i am just sharing my new found knowledge) im not pullin my small sum of money out of my savings account just yet trust me but after college it wont be there (i know your reply my wife will have it haha probably).

OK i do have a truck question. For my staff (haha ) Where can i buy that 303 protectant? I was at 2 auto stores and they didnt have it. I seen it in the perf. prod magazine. I was just wondering if Kmart, walmart, or target would have it? Thanks

you are getting somewhere. this topic made the top 10 on edmunds and probably why meredith didn't axe it the first time around. you should have made the title a little shorter then your name could have fit on the top 10. as it is, your name got cut off.

to stay on topic it is questions for Ryan. Not Ryan asking questions....I hope I helped to clear that up.

if you pull your money out of the bank now, you will have more of it when you are finished with school. I think that is what your prof was trying to teach you yesterday. Lot of mutuals have small minimums or even an IRA. Wow, that would sure accumulate to a huge one considering your age now.

Yea i know but i have my mastercard bill, shell, and $2500 i owe on my truck which will be paid off by the end of august. So i have to keep money in my savings or checking for now. After i pay off the truck and accumulate some more i will start to invest it.

My grandpa took his toyota camry in for an oil change yesterday. While he was waiting he was looking around he found a tundra and sat in it. He has rode in my truck and really liked it he said it was very comfortable and the seats were like his lazyboy. He told me he likes the tundra much better and why is this? Because he said its smaller easier to get in and there isnt as much headroom i guess its more like his camry. He is only like 5 ft 6 so the tundra was a perfect fit for him except he doesnt drive trucks. So if my grandpa could tell the difference of the size by just sitting in the two trucks (silverado - tundra) why cant these other guys???

hey it was a post about trucks

Try a search, I know they have a web site that will locate your local dealer/distributor. Here in ABQ. several automotive upholstery shops sell it. I think Performance Products also sells it.

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
You didnt read my whole post did you? I said perf prod does have it but $8.95 a bottle plus shipping isnt worth it id rather buy it somewhere and save the shipping.

Man on man. Going on 3 wks i call up the auto parts place to see if my light guards came in and guess what a big surprise THEY HAVENT yet. Now the guy is blaming westin saying they have been shipped but havent arrived. First the guy says it would be 2 days they have to get them from their warehouse (few cities away) then they say they dont have them in stock how do you go from having them stocked to not in a matter of an hr??? Should have paid $35 more and got them that day. I told this guy i was gonna have them install my grill guard too fat chance on that one. Even if its more expensive im going elsewhere.

Sorry to vent guys but its been almost 3 wks and im still waiting. The damn truck was built and delievered faster than these light guards.

ryan, but whats up with post 84. sorta cruel
    don't ya think?

anyway, here's an update on the 4dr. handle scam.
i call it a scam because that's what it is. seems
our dealer here in fresno published a photo(and
still does) of the ext. cab with front and rear
handles as a way to get people to hurry up and
buy the 99's and 00's that they have left. they
even took one truck (ext. cab w/v-6) and fit
handles to the rear doors. WHAT A HOOT.

staying on topic though, what do u suggest for
bed liners? also, what billet grille insert do u
    think is the best?

i've seen a few trucks with billets but they
don't seem to line up very well.

    ...red
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
either a bad hair day or PMS...take your pick.

    Dean

no matter which billet grille you choose, it will look better than the crappy grill that comes with the truck.
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
you're right about the PMS. but i haven't seen
anything in here that hasn't been fun or
interesting. we have topics like Yukons or gas
tanks, or Truck engines that need more attention
than this forum don't ya think.
GOOD LUCK ON THIS ONE NOW!!

    ...red

P.S. on the grilles, i still need to know which
ones to look at and which ones are junk.

Anyone seen the Xenon street flares for the GMC? I have seen them in catalogs, but none on a vehicle or on display. In the catalog it appears they have a better fit in the creases than the ones I have seen. (Bushwhacker?) The local stores here only order on demand and no returns. Jeez, whatever happened to customer service?

red, that is a scam in fresno. I got a 01' and the handles are on the inside the same as 99 and 00'. now unless GM does a mid year chage to the handles ( 99.9% unlikely) i think that dealer has a TRUE SCAM going.

I have an aftermarket grill. Funny thing though. I left it up to Dr. Cool at coolwheels.com. Told him my truck was black and he got me a pair of black billet inserts. cost about $175.00. I think coolwheels is in CA down south a little. Free shipping check the website out. Dr. Cool is really cool...spent a couple grand at his website. JBA headers, Gibson catback, Putco railcaps and tailgate cover. Ask him a question (Dr. Cool) and ususally get an answer within 24 hrs. I try and look for my grill invoice. I had to remove the factory grille to install mine. I would have it no other way as installing over the originals somehow doesn't cut it. my $.02

if you think that's a scam, then u otta see their

service department. they advertise oil changes
for 12.99 hah! several people i know told me they

were charged extra for oil filters because
pf-59's were out of stock and had to use the gold

version. also trucks get charged for 2 extra qts.

of oil, cause they say it takes 6.5 qts. to fill
up the 4.8 5.3 6.0, again hah. when i bought my
truck they told me that i would be recieving a
questionare about the dealership. wish i had held

off on filling it out until they took care of a
few minor problems. before they got their
confirmation that goes along with sending it in
they literally kissed my butt. after that though,

any problems that i discussed or had checked out
by the service depart. got a reply of no sounds
heard or can't see anything wrong with the
General tires that are almost worn out in the
center, and they're even screamin' like off road
tires, but no noise was heard.

did'nt mean to ramble on, cause i know that other

people have got worse problems, (mine are minor)
but it blows me away when i see something crooked

going on and their getting away with it. next
truck to be '02 and from dealer across town who
is also servicing my truck now.

BTW it's a '00 with 12,000 on it now and has been

    a dream to own.

Mr. VP, i'm gonna give that a try. do the
horizontal bars keep alignment with each other
and the chrome plastic bar that seperate the two
pieces? the ones i have seen here don't. the top
piece looks ok but the bottom ones look
distorted. sorta like a curve with the ends
curving donwards. of course the ones i'm talking
about only cost about 85.00, at the local pick
'em truck store. there's even a high school type
kid there that'll install 'em for ya for 20
bucks. must be a no brainer huh?

    RubeTim,
Do you park your truck on the right side, or the left side of the garage?

Quad parks on the right side...and NOBODY does it better...tennis ball hangs in front of the windshield on driver side, passenger mirror passes 1/8" away from from flashing on side of garage door, every time...never touched yet!

    Throw me a bone!
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
...on if you are looking in or out!

    LOL

..My buddy uses the tennis ball on the windshield method also....it's a tight fit..so when the ball hits the windshield.....walahh..he's there!

i got plenty of room though...if you hit the bench or the pole...you've gone too farr!

on the billet grille, my alignment was left up to me. Install correctly and no problem. a little off? that's why I got the black... can't see em that good, especially at night. Actually you install them and have slotted nuts/bolts holding them. Adjust with the slots until satisfied and lock em up. The front to back adjustment was more difficult than the left to right or up/down.

You TUCSONJWT. It was tough but 125 posts later it was well worth it haha.

RED- in my performance products magazine they have a very nice looking aluminum billit grill. Its made by E&G. Chevy cost is From $213.25. No drilling easy bolt on. REF # is 3574. Just a suggestion for you.

When I traded for the 2000 I was going to hang a tennis ball as well so I'd know exactly where to stop. I used to watch the headlight pattern on the front wall - but that is still slight guessing. I only have about 4" of room in the garage with the extended cab truck. I found the cool hightech answer at Target. For $20 bucks it is a motion sensor activated laser. Install it on the ceiling - point it at a spot on the dash of the truck. When you pull in the laser comes on, when it hits the right spot on the dash, stop.

I think its cool, my friends just shake their heads at me. Now, I just hope the laser doesn't do any damage!! It shuts off after 30 seconds.

tennis balls can be purchased at almost any (don't even know what kind of store they are???) store like kmart, walmart, target, ames, montgomery wards, etc. fishing line also. screw eyes - depends on the store. lowe's, home depot, menards, etc...

  • werkingwerking Member Posts: 431
with the $15 you save by using the tennis ball method, as opposed to the high tech laser, you can purchase approximately one case of bud-lite, or two sixes of sam adams. other combinations are also available...
