Hi, wondering if December numbers are out yet. Looking for mf/rv/ incentives for EV LTD and SE 36/10k zip 20852. Thank you!

We only show a 49% residual and $1000 bonus cash on the 2020 Ioniq EV.

Could be our information is incomplete; could be there is no more support, this month.

May be a few days to know which it is.

    I have a slightly different lease-related question.

Has anybody traded a current lease with positive equity for a new lease?

I have a 2019 Ioniq EV and the buyout figure basically matches the KBB trade-in value. I would like to lease a 2020 EV given that the terms are essentially the same as when I leased my 2019. I know I could sell the 2019 privately for a few thousand more, but I am sure it will take a while and I like the idea of moving from one vehicle to the other in a single step with the same dealer.

Has anyone done this successfully? Are there pitfalls to watch for?

    Thank you!

Have you confirmed the buyout amount from the bank?

And, many folks will tell you, books don't buy cars, dealers do.

Get quotes from CarMax, Carvana and Vroom and compare them to your buyout. Then, you'll know for sure if you have positive equity - or not.

Thanks, but my question was really focused on the process of moving from one lease to another and issues that may arise, not whether I had positive equity or not (since any particular dealer can offer more or less based on many factors). And I do have the exact buyout number.

Putting equity aside, are there issues to watch out for, or is it a fairly straightforward process?

Make sure the dealer is actually purchasing your vehicle from the bank, and not just turning it in early. No point in doing this, unless you are completely absolved of any lease end charges on the current vehicle.

That's a great point. In this case, it's leased by Hyundai Finance and I would use a Hyundai dealer for the sale and new lease. Would a Hyundai dealer have anything to gain by surreptitiously doing a turn-in versus a purchase?
