So we just walked out of a dealership in Virginia as things didn’t seem to add up. Here is what we were working on with the dealer:

2021 Corolla LE Hybrid
MSRP: $24,355
Sale Price: $18,574
All In Agreed Price: $21,345
Lease 36/10, Zip 22151
Residual: 62% ($15,100)
MF: .00255 (w/ $1250 cash rebate), .00138 (w/out $1,250 cash rebate)
No money down

We were told the MF above is for Tier 1+ credit, and it differed based on whether we took the rebate or not. The finance manager then showed us a paper from July with the MF numbers above, which made me skeptical considering numbers change monthly. After that they tacked on a $650 acquisition fee after we had agreed on the all-in price of $21,345.

All said and done, the costs to lease 36/10 with $0 down was $284/month when taking the cash rebate, and $280/month without the cash rebate.

Do these seem right? I thought they were high and we decided to leave. I also didn’t trust the July MF sheet they showed us as being current.

.00138 and 62% is the correct information, without the incentive.

Dealer is correct that to qualify for the incentive, the MF will have to increase.

And, the $650 acquisition fee is legit, as well.

That said, if I add the acq fee to the "all in" price, I get $243/mo, not $280/mo.

If you are still working with this dealer, ask them for a copy of their lease worksheet.

Thank you! I’m still waiting for the dealers worksheet, but wanted to confirm you took a couple things into account with your calcs:

1) if using the .00138 MF, was the $1250 added to the cap cost?
2) in the state of Virginia, tax is levied up front on the cap cost (not on monthly payments)
