So, there is some cap reduction in there somewhere on both quotes.

even knowing I have to surrender the Subaru to them and then can't sell it to Carmax, for example? That must be the missing part of the cap reduction because they're saying I have $4270 positive equity.

Just was quoted $24,800 for the vehicle by Carmax, which is significantly more than the $21,400 trade allowance from Mazda.

even knowing I have to surrender the Subaru to them and then can't sell it to Carmax, for example? That must be the missing part of the cap reduction because they're saying I have $4270 positive equity.

Just was quoted $24,800 for the vehicle by Carmax, which is significantly more than the $21,400 trade allowance from Mazda.

I'd take the carmax offer and pay the drive off fees from the equity, and keep the rest.

Or, you can negotiate with your dealer to get a higher trade value from them. I did that on my last purchase and the dealer bumped their offer $2000 to match CarMax.

Assuming the $3500 up front (cash and equity) covers the drive off costs (first payment, taxes and fees), the payment will be $454/mo.

Subtract $30/mo from the payment for every $1000 down payment.

Sold my Subaru off lease to Carvana on your advice (thanks again), and now less than three weeks later my wife wrecked the new CX-30 and its been declared totaled.
