Hello Everyone,

I am a FL resident and would like to lease a Bmw X3 M40i located in CA. I am trying to figure out if the dealer could register it in FL directly and how the process will look like.

Also, I believe that MF and RV will be CA and Sales Tax will be FL, am I correct.

Please help me out!!

Thank you so much!

BMW lease programs look to be national, so no difference there.

Yes, FL registration and taxes will take precedence.

I'm assuming there is a specific trim/color that you want - what will the shipping cost?

Not really, I am visiting my best friend here and saw it. Also, it has the tow package which no one has. So basically I plan to drive back home to FL from CA

Don’t know, but you can ask them.

Exactly - you'll end up doing all the work yourself, but, on a positive note, you'll save a bundle on fees. Dealer fees in CA are capped at $85; probably closer to $1000 in FL.

BMW Financial Services will own the vehicle, and they'll take care of final registration. It's doubtful you'll have to do much of anything from that standpoint.

If you are taking delivery in CA, it's important to put as little upfront as possible, as CA will collect tax on the upfront money.

I have spoken to the dealer and they said they could only issue a one way permit or something like that to drive to FL. So tommorow I will call a FL Tag Agency to see what it can be done.

If you are leasing, and the dealer gives you a temporary tag, wait for BMWFS to contact you. It's possible they'll take care of all of the licensing/tag. I leased a BMW out of state, and that's how it worked for me.
