Invoice Price of New Car

I'm looking at buying a mid size SUV and decided on the 2021 Honda Pilot EX-L. I've been reading about negotiating a deal on a vehicle. From the sources I read, it's best to find out the invoice price on a new vehicle and negotiate based on the invoice price and not MSRP. So my question is, where do you find the invoice prices?

I've tried to look at edmunds.com, carsdirect.com, invoice-pricing.com. The problem is the websites make you enter your contact information before it supposedly takes you to the invoice price. Couple issues I have with that: 1) If I give out my contact info, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get random calls and people will bother me about buying a car 2) Even if I do put my contact info, I can't be certain the page I will get directed to will truly give me the invoice price.

When I'm ready to buy, I think it's a good idea for me to print out or make copies of sources that show the invoice price. This way I can justify the price I am willing to pay. So back to my original question. Where can I get invoice price on a new vehicle?

In today's market, knowing the invoice price isn't really going to help.

Try getting some offers from dealers. They will all likely be around MSRP.

I don't think that's correct. If you google negotiation tactics at a car dealership, you will see several sources referencing the invoice price.

Knowing the invoice price and being able to attain the invoice price in negotiations are two different things.

With the microchip shortage affecting production, dealers do not have the normal amount of inventory available to sell. This means the transaction prices for the cars they do have in stock will be higher - at, or in some cases, above, MSRP.

There is a correlation with knowing the invoice price and using the invoice price in negotiations. My entire point in knowing the invoice price is to help myself negotiate and try to get a few grand off the MSRP. Car dealerships have to pay the car manufacturer (invoice price) then the car dealerships tries to sell it to consumers (us) at the MSRP or maybe higher depending on circumstance...Car dealerships have to be keeping track of invoice prices otherwise it would be bad accounting practice and they wouldn't know how much they are profiting. So the question is how do we (consumers) find out the invoice price? What source can you use to find this out? I find it hard to believe nobody knows.

Use the price checker link in my signature block to obtain this information.

But, the "invoice price" may or may not be the amount the dealer pays the factory to buy the car. There are hidden incentives, volume bonuses and other accounting trickery that we have no visibility to.

And, given the current market conditions, nobody is getting a huge discount from sticker. What car(s) are you looking at?

I'm trying to get the 2021 Honda Pilot EX-L, 2 wheel drive. I went into that link. Apparently you have to put in your email address and phone number. I didn't go through it because I know I will start being contacted and people will bother me. I was hoping to find a source where I don't have to enter my contact info...I know there are lot of variables about the amount dealer pays for the car but knowing the invoice price still helps.
