Leased it today. MSRP $47,485; agreed price $45,485; then rebate of $1000 Ford lease cash. Demanded they waive $399 surprise charge for a dealer option "paint guard" tacked on after sale price was settled. And made them honor the $599 doc fee (already too much) listed on their own web site's lease estimator after they tried to bill me $699 doc fee. But the real savings are thanks to knowing the numbers.

Being able to confirm RV and APR helped me drive down their first proposal of $5993 due and $704/mo. There was no place to hide after I worked out depreciation cost and rent cost.

$5845 paid at signing and $605/mo for 39 months with 12k miles. That's a huge drop. If I was naive, might have paid $3900 more for the car!

Includes Massachusetts 6.25% tax on rent charges and $25/$1000 annual Excise tax. Backing those out reveals $5391 due at signing and $511/mo pre-tax. Effective monthly cost is $647/mo before tax and $750/mo including tax.
