Not a surprise here (Canada)you have to buy the Premium and leather package to get Bluetooth and intelligent key and XM radio, lucky for me I don't care for 2 of them.
I too must have driven the same Rogue SL that Wstanko reported on earlier. It was insect blotted in the front and chipped and rusted already on the right rear wheel well. The salesman told me this was a prototype making its way around a planned circuit to tease interested buyers in September. I'm 6'3" and 200 pounds and found the seating comfortable but not very roomy as my knees bumped the center console and prevented me from driving in my preferred driving position (legs spread).
The quality of the interior was pleasant and it was similar in size to a Sportage or Tuscon, ie, lots of plastic. The rear cargo area behind the rear seat was slightly larger than the Sportage/Tuscon, but similarly, like the aforementioned, I could probably not get four sets of golf clubs in the cargo area which was a priority for me. Unlike wstanko, I found the power more than adequate and pleasantly robust for a 4 cyclinder. The handling and braking were superb. Getting off the ramp to the interstate was adequate but somewhat lacking in the kind of power that I would want. The seating was very comfortable and if not for the center console, I would have probably been a bit more excited about the prospects of an immediate purchase.
There was no pricing available. Having owned a'06 Sportage, I found there to be no compelling reason to purchase a Rogue because you can buy a Sportage/Tuscon with a v-6, loaded for less than what the Rogue is supposed to be, loaded as well. The mileage savings is minimal, power is greater, and you get more leg room up front than the Rogue. Resale will probably be better with the Rogue, since it is a Nissan and not a Kia, but for value, power, and utility the Sportage would be a better deal.
Make no mistake here. I'm not bashing the Rogue....it is a very nice vehicle, but doesn't scream "compelling value". I also drove a Murano when it became apparent to the salesman that I would not be interested in the Rogue. Now, there is an awesome machine! It screams comfort and convenience, but at a high price. If you are a woman or not a larger man, the Rogue would serve you well, but if you are a bigger guy with the need for more room, power, and storage the Murano is your car.
Please advise which dealer? some of the Montreal dealers have not even had the chance to view the Rogue, much to my surprise, I am awaiting anxiously as all the reviews seem to be favourable
With the EPA gas mileage of the Rogue and with most of the features of the Murano (of which I own), who would second-guess purchasing this snappy Rogue. Here are the statistics for the fuel economy: Highway 39 per gallon; City 31 per gallon-this is for front-wheel driven. Great, absolutely great and I prefer front-wheel driven vehicles-promotes greater handling.
The Rogue in the long run will pay for itself until Nissan comes up with another gas-saver vehicle. The estimated fuel economy was read on Nissan's PDF file for the Rogue.
There is got to be a mistake somewhere. The Rogue is listed 21/27 mpg US, and 31/39 mpg CAN, which is absurd as it is equivalent to 26/32 mpg US. This is a HUGE difference. In Can,this kind of mileage would certinaly allow to get the green environmental rebate (1000 to 2000$) since it is a SUV. We will see, but one of the spec sheets has to be wrong somehow...
Please note these are Canadian gallons which are 20% bigger than the US gallon. Also I don't believe Canada has adopted the New EPA fuel Mileage calculation as the States has for 2008
Just placed my order for a Iridium Graphite SL Rogue, expected delivery in the 1st week of October. We've had 3 Altimas in a row, so this will be a bit of a change. I really had to think hard about passing on the new Altima, but I'm looking forward to the change.
Taking into account the canadian to us gallon conversion, there is still a 5mpg difference in both city-highway. I guess this is due to the new calculations, the CVT and hybrid models seem to get more hurt in the new calculation than regular models....
actually, it's a cuv. Big difference as its built on a car platform instead of a truck platform. a lot smaller, and a lot less weight. and condidering its a 4 cyl, 21/27 doesn't seem that unrealistic.
I totally agree with you. However, for classification purposes, the gvt of Canada will consider it as a SUV (ie, not a car), and will use this clasification to issue the green rebate, which is good. And yes, 21/27 is realistic, even though a bit disappointing as far as I'm concerned (about 5% more than the Rav4 269hp V6). It is the 26/32 MPG (US)/31/39 MPG (CAN) for which it is rated on Nissan Canada website that really surprizes me...
I believe Nissan said they expected the Rogue to get slightly better mileage than the Rav4. The 4-cylinder 2007 Rav4 was rated at 24/30, so 26/32 for the Rogue (using "old" 2007 testing criteria presumably) is just about right.
I expect when the 2008 Rav4 4-cyl. specs are released, they will get 1 or 2 mpg less than the Rogue, something like 20/25 or 21/26 for 2WD.
There are going to be a lot of confused customers with this new EPA testing criteria being implemented. :confuse:
Anyone have any top secret updates on pricing or arrivals?
Emailed my local dealer a few days ago with 3 questions: ETA for Rogues on order, date dealer expects to receive pricing info, and chances that Nissan will offer any low-interest financing with the Rogue. I got a callback from an Internet rep who was brand-new, knew nothing, had no inclination to find out any info, and gave me non-answers like "usually SUVs arrive in October".
Stopped by the dealer tonight and got more non-information from a salesman, who acted like nobody knows ANYTHING about the car until it physically arrives. Claimed that sometimes dealers don't get pricing info until AFTER it's publicly released (???) because the company doesn't want them selling "next month's" vehicles this month. That makes a tiny bit of sense if you are trying to get rid of 2007 models before the 2008s come in, but makes absolutely no sense for a 1st-year model, especially one that won't cannibalize any existing Nissan model.
Came home and emailed 7 other dealers - I hope I can find ONE rep in that group who will make an honest attempt to answer my questions with accurate info or at least an educated guess.
My Dealer told me that Sept 15th was going to be the release date, only time well tell.
I leased a Versa the same day they were released and got a GREAT rate on one. Better then what Nissan is offering today. So it all depends on how Nissan is going to work it.
Has anyone checked out the Mitsubishi Outlander? Roomy, affordable (about $24,000), good gas mileage, nice warranty, comes as a V6, and has good options packages -- just a suggestion in case the Rogue turns out to be too small for anyone, although I still have my heart set on one, whenever it shows up down here in Georgia -
Nissan is keeping the pricing and the stats a secret on their new Rogue better than the C. I. A. I just hope that the Rogue is much larger than the Toyota RAVA, if it is not I cannot see myself purchasing this new vehicle. Currently, I am driving the best vehicle on the market and that vehicle is a 2005 Murano SL. The Murano is a dream to drive and very compfortable with a lot of room; my Murano drives like a sportscar-the only negative is the fuel economy, however, as far as I know it has more fuel efficiency than any other SUV out there.
First reply - shipping in the "next couple of months". Second reply - no information (but rep referred to it as the "Rouge"). Started banging my head again ... but then I got a few useful replies. Earliest delivery ETA was Oct. 1, another dealer said "first week of October", another said "end of October". Official launch is supposedly Sep. 18 and that's the earliest any dealer is supposed to receive delivery. Pricing info is supposed to be released to the public the same day. My local dealer is expecting pricing info internally about Sep. 10. Best guess on finance incentives - from several dealers - was no incentives at first, then possibly incentives after 2-3 months, when dealers have accumulated more inventory.
I might need to hunt further to find a dealer receiving their first delivery closer to Sep. 18, so I won't need to wait until Oct. 1 for a test drive ...
This will be a tough decision; I was very impressed with the Outlander, the warranty is quite expansive. I just worry that after driving the Murano, I will find the Rogue too small and less quality - what swayed you to the Outlander? How is the gas mileage? My lease runs out in February, figuring Nissan will be easy to work with if I pick another Nissan, but not so much if I want to go with a Mitsubishi product ---- Kay
Anyone have any top secret updates on pricing or arrivals?
Read somewhere that Nissan bought all of the advertising for the premier of Heroes (Sept 24th) and that a Rogue will be used in the show this season. If that's true then every Nissan dealer in the US should have a Rogue on their lot by Sept 24th.. If they feature the car on Heroes and don’t have them on every lot they should fire every one in marketing, starting with their Vice President.
I haven't heard any numbers mentioned, but I have read a lot of stuff saying that nissan is going to price it under the competition. Nothing on how much, but nissan knows its way behind in this segment will have to undercut everybody to establish itself in the small CUV market. Although I think thats mostly in relation to honda/toyota. Its probably impossible to undercut the domestics, and hyundai/kia while still turning a profit.
I wouldn't say significantly smaller in length and wheel base they are the same as a matter of fact all dimension are very similar except for cubic storage ft and that is due mostly to a sloping back hatch and who piles stuff up to the roof. at the floor level the sq footage is almost identical. As for the Tucson no comparison sorry you out to lunch on that one.
In the last three weeks, I sat in the Escape, Rav4, Outlander, Santa Fe, Tucson, Murano and Rogue, and even if yes, the Rogue is similar on the outside, it is significantly smaller on the inside. Worlds apart from the Murano, Santa Fe and even Oulander and Rav4. The Rogue's floor behind the seats is very high and the roof is lower, leading to less storage (57 vs 73sqft behind 1st and 28 vs 36 behind second row) and passenger room. For example, I could have fit one bike diagonnaly in the Rogue, and two bikes upright in the Oulander. And even if the fit and finish is much better than the Tucson, the interior space is only about 10% more. So I guess my comparison stands on several aspects. But if the Rogue meets your needs, go ahead and get one!
Since I see you also had arguments with whomever found a drawback to the Rogue (which you already purchased if I remember correctly), I'll give it to you:
Everyone: The Rogue is just perfect. And it is just as big as the Rav4, if not larger, both inside and out. And it is priced very very competitively in Canada.
THANK YOU! I don't ague I just want the playing field to be level or the next thing you know you'll be comparing it to the Forerunner. And yes I bought over the RAV4 and CRV for many reasons. I did go and compare the vehicles and this was not I only like the Rogue because I bought one thing.
Question for the experienced car buyers out there. Should I expect to get anything lower than MSRP for the Rogue? This will be my first SUV purchase and I'm trying to decide on Rogue, CRV or Santa Fe; on paper and by looks, I'm leaning more towards the Rogue, but I'll need to test drive to confirm.
I plan on paying in full w/o financing. With the Rogue being a first year model and just having come out, should I expect to get a quote closer to invoice pricing?
I had to pay list but the dealer threw in about a $1000 in extras, would not mark down list price. 2 other dealers I went to, was list or nothing, they will be in short supply until the new year so they don't have to negotiate
Sent out a second wave of emails last night (covering a wider area) and got a response from one dealer who expects to have his first Rogue about Sep. 19. His dealership is one of the biggest in the region, so that appears to confirm what someone else mentioned earlier, that the largest dealers get earlier delivery dates.
I decided to put most of the reviews (that I have seen) all in one place This is probably just the tip of the iceberg, so if you know of others, post 'em- the new reviews keep coming!
I still hearing that US dealers will have pricing the week of Sep 17th.
I have also have heard that the 1st allocation of Rogue vehicles have arrived at all west coast ports, & the Jacksonville, FL port, I have no info if they have arrived at the Newark, NJ port which would handle all the Northeast area.
I do not have any info as to when Nissan will release vehicles from port to dealers.
I assume the destination charge (not included in the press release pricing) will be about $625. If anyone knows the dealer invoice prices, that might be useful information. At the moment, the Rogue has not been added to the new car database at Edmunds or to the configurator pages on the NissanUSA site, and the pricing link on the Rogue page at NissanNews is not live.
The Rogue has now been added to the configurator pages on the NissanUSA site. Three of the names of the exterior colors are different: Silver Alloy, Pikes Peak White and Carbon Silver.
Roof Rail Crossbars ($230) has been added to the list of accessories.
Also, at the moment, the Rogue is not included in the drop-down list of models when you attempt to check dealers' inventory.
I got a phone call from the Nissan dealer I do all my business through and they have ONE Rouge in its a 2 WD, with sunroof ( I forgot the color) I was to go down today and look at it but I couldnt. I am very disappointed that Nissan failed to allow the 2WD SL to get bluetooth and Intelikey, you can only get them on the 4WD SL. I currently have a 07 Versa with those 2 items and I find that they are a must have.. So maybe a new Rouge isn't in my future for the 08 model..

This will be my first SUV purchase and I'm trying to decide on Rogue, CRV or Santa Fe; ------------------------------------
I think the biggest consideration with the Rogue is the CVT. The Honda and the Santa Fe have conventional automatics. The good news is Nissan may have the best CVT out there. From what I've read, the one in the Patriot sucks.
I'd drive a Rogue and a CRV and choose. The Santa Fe is larger now, more of a competitor with the Highlander.
I am currently in the market for a compact SUV and am really leaning towards a 2008 CR-V, but after researching the new Rogue, I am really anxious to test drive it. I live in the San Antonio area but my parents live in Houston. If anyone has sighted any Rogues in area dealerships, let me know! :P
Starting tonight, with the season premire of Heroes, Nissan is scheduled to release lots of national ads on the Rogue. If you don't get your test drive today, it might take a while until more show up on the lots.
