The quality of the interior was pleasant and it was similar in size to a Sportage or Tuscon, ie, lots of plastic. The rear cargo area behind the rear seat was slightly larger than the Sportage/Tuscon, but similarly, like the aforementioned, I could probably not get four sets of golf clubs in the cargo area which was a priority for me. Unlike wstanko, I found the power more than adequate and pleasantly robust for a 4 cyclinder. The handling and braking were superb. Getting off the ramp to the interstate was adequate but somewhat lacking in the kind of power that I would want. The seating was very comfortable and if not for the center console, I would have probably been a bit more excited about the prospects of an immediate purchase.
There was no pricing available. Having owned a'06 Sportage, I found there to be no compelling reason to purchase a Rogue because you can buy a Sportage/Tuscon with a v-6, loaded for less than what the Rogue is supposed to be, loaded as well.
The mileage savings is minimal, power is greater, and you get more leg room up front than the Rogue. Resale will probably be better with the Rogue, since it is a Nissan and not a Kia, but for value, power, and utility the Sportage would be a better deal.
Make no mistake here. I'm not bashing the Rogue....it is a very nice vehicle, but doesn't scream "compelling value".
I also drove a Murano when it became apparent to the salesman that I would not be interested in the Rogue. Now, there is an awesome machine! It screams comfort and convenience, but at a high price. If you are a woman or not a larger man, the Rogue would serve you well, but if you are a bigger guy with the need for more room, power, and storage the Murano is your car.
With the EPA gas mileage of the Rogue and with most of the features of the Murano (of which I own), who would second-guess purchasing this snappy Rogue. Here are the statistics for the fuel economy: Highway 39 per gallon; City 31 per gallon-this is for front-wheel driven. Great, absolutely great and I prefer front-wheel driven vehicles-promotes greater handling.
The Rogue in the long run will pay for itself until Nissan comes up with another gas-saver vehicle. The estimated fuel economy was read on Nissan's PDF file for the Rogue.
Just placed my order for a Iridium Graphite SL Rogue, expected delivery in the 1st week of October. We've had 3 Altimas in a row, so this will be a bit of a change. I really had to think hard about passing on the new Altima, but I'm looking forward to the change.
actually, it's a cuv. Big difference as its built on a car platform instead of a truck platform. a lot smaller, and a lot less weight. and condidering its a 4 cyl, 21/27 doesn't seem that unrealistic.
I totally agree with you. However, for classification purposes, the gvt of Canada will consider it as a SUV (ie, not a car), and will use this clasification to issue the green rebate, which is good. And yes, 21/27 is realistic, even though a bit disappointing as far as I'm concerned (about 5% more than the Rav4 269hp V6). It is the 26/32 MPG (US)/31/39 MPG (CAN) for which it is rated on Nissan Canada website that really surprizes me...
that does seem a bit high, but I guess its right. the governmet tests them, not the manufactures.
I expect when the 2008 Rav4 4-cyl. specs are released, they will get 1 or 2 mpg less than the Rogue, something like 20/25 or 21/26 for 2WD.
There are going to be a lot of confused customers with this new EPA testing criteria being implemented. :confuse:
Emailed my local dealer a few days ago with 3 questions: ETA for Rogues on order, date dealer expects to receive pricing info, and chances that Nissan will offer any low-interest financing with the Rogue. I got a callback from an Internet rep who was brand-new, knew nothing, had no inclination to find out any info, and gave me non-answers like "usually SUVs arrive in October".
Stopped by the dealer tonight and got more non-information from a salesman, who acted like nobody knows ANYTHING about the car until it physically arrives. Claimed that sometimes dealers don't get pricing info until AFTER it's publicly released (???) because the company doesn't want them selling "next month's" vehicles this month. That makes a tiny bit of sense if you are trying to get rid of 2007 models before the 2008s come in, but makes absolutely no sense for a 1st-year model, especially one that won't cannibalize any existing Nissan model.
Came home and emailed 7 other dealers - I hope I can find ONE rep in that group who will make an honest attempt to answer my questions with accurate info or at least an educated guess.
I need a pounding-head-against-wall Emotorcon ...
I leased a Versa the same day they were released and got a GREAT rate on one. Better then what Nissan is offering today. So it all depends on how Nissan is going to work it.
Nissan is keeping the pricing and the stats a secret on their new Rogue better than the C. I. A. I just hope that the Rogue is much larger than the Toyota RAVA, if it is not I cannot see myself purchasing this new vehicle. Currently, I am driving the best vehicle on the market and that vehicle is a 2005 Murano SL. The Murano is a dream to drive and very compfortable with a lot of room; my Murano drives like a sportscar-the only negative is the fuel economy, however, as far as I know it has more fuel efficiency than any other SUV out there.
I might need to hunt further to find a dealer receiving their first delivery closer to Sep. 18, so I won't need to wait until Oct. 1 for a test drive ...
Read somewhere that Nissan bought all of the advertising for the premier of Heroes (Sept 24th) and that a Rogue will be used in the show this season. If that's true then every Nissan dealer in the US should have a Rogue on their lot by Sept 24th.. If they feature the car on Heroes and don’t have them on every lot they should fire every one in marketing, starting with their Vice President.
In the last three weeks, I sat in the Escape, Rav4, Outlander, Santa Fe, Tucson, Murano and Rogue, and even if yes, the Rogue is similar on the outside, it is significantly smaller on the inside. Worlds apart from the Murano, Santa Fe and even Oulander and Rav4. The Rogue's floor behind the seats is very high and the roof is lower, leading to less storage (57 vs 73sqft behind 1st and 28 vs 36 behind second row) and passenger room. For example, I could have fit one bike diagonnaly in the Rogue, and two bikes upright in the Oulander. And even if the fit and finish is much better than the Tucson, the interior space is only about 10% more. So I guess my comparison stands on several aspects. But if the Rogue meets your needs, go ahead and get one!
Since I see you also had arguments with whomever found a drawback to the Rogue (which you already purchased if I remember correctly), I'll give it to you:
Everyone: The Rogue is just perfect. And it is just as big as the Rav4, if not larger, both inside and out. And it is priced very very competitively in Canada.
I plan on paying in full w/o financing. With the Rogue being a first year model and just having come out, should I expect to get a quote closer to invoice pricing?
Thanks for any comments!

Kickingtires with Rogue pictures...

I sat in the front and back row, I have checked the vehicule inside out. That is why I allow myself to communicate my observations here.
I have also have heard that the 1st allocation of Rogue vehicles have arrived at all west coast ports, & the Jacksonville, FL port,
I do not have any info as to when Nissan will release vehicles from port to dealers.

It states "destination and handling" is $745, and lists some other accessory prices.
Roof Rail Crossbars ($230) has been added to the list of accessories.
Also, at the moment, the Rogue is not included in the drop-down list of models when you attempt to check dealers' inventory.

I think the biggest consideration with the Rogue is the CVT. The Honda and the Santa Fe have conventional automatics. The good news is Nissan may have the best CVT out there. From what I've read, the one in the Patriot sucks.
I'd drive a Rogue and a CRV and choose. The Santa Fe is larger now, more of a competitor with the Highlander.
