he-he-he...I called the Mitsubishi salesman today in Tucson. Turns out he totally forgot about our little meeting in the Benson, AZ, parking lot Saturday afternoon. The Navy Blue Angels were flying at the Air Show Saturday afternoon in Tucson and Wildcat Mitsubishi was signed up to take a '08 CVT Lancer GTS there to show. But I love this new Lancer so much that I already told him that I wasn't mad about him forgetting our appointment and asked if he had any silver, red or blue '08 GTS Lancer's in yet.
He said they had one Apex Silver GTS w/the optional Sun and Sound Package in. I found out that I really don't want the Apex Silver 'cause I turned the silver one down. I told him I wanted either the Rally Red or the Electric Blue(1st choice Electric Blue) w/Sun and Sound Package in 5-speeds and that I would buy either of those when they come in. He said the truck is on the way to Tucson and that it would get here literally any day now.
Whoo-hoo!
Another cool little tidbit that he told me...no one in the Tucson metro area has bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer yet. So if it continues this way and I buy in the next couple days I'll be the first '08 Lancer owner in Southern Arizona! Ideal Mitsubishi of Sierra Vista hasn't received a single '08 Mitsubishi Lancer yet so that dealership can't claim that they have the first sale of '08 Lancer's in Southern Arizona. One would need to head up to Phoenix to find the next available Mitsubishi dealer. So I don't know if any '08 Lancer's have been sold in all of Arizona yet or not.
I'm just waiting for his e-mail. We've already discussed particulars but I'll need to cover my backside and negotiate to the hilt on the phone and e-mail from here on out so I don't get burned. Basically the new Lancer GTS is beautiful and it's MSRP price is under-priced IMO for how much car you get.
Early test-drivers are claiming that the car feels like a German sports car worth twice as much. I have no reason to believe they're lying to me.
108 miles on way for our 01 Tiburon, and when we traded our 99 Sonata GLS V6 in(sept 2004) for a Scion tC.... we drove 92 miles on way.
If someone's got what you want now... Drive! It's not like if you need work, tune-up, warranty work, you would have to drive back to the place ya bought the car from.
Still, go for it, I would not bother with the guy" I forgot". That's just me, though.
Like I said, I'll drive up to 125 miles one way to get what I want, when I want it. I have heard of people driving nearly 200 miles for a car. lol.
Electric Blue 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS as I type this. I am going to get top dollar for our '01 Kia Sportage 4x4 or the deal is toast. The salesman is running hither and tither to the big financier man now.
I'll let you know. BTW-this blue one is coming in "any day now". So my salesman said they'd hold it for me. Getting KBB dollar for the Sportage is the current sticking point.
grad rebate and then trading in our '01 Kia Sportage 4x4. Apparently their finance manager doesn't know how to type in Kelly Blue Book.com He is offering about $1700 less than the '01 Sportage is worth according to KBB's dealer trade-in book.
So I may have to look at another Mitsu dealer for my '08 Lancer GTS. My last and final offer is sitting on their desk and they have either gone home or want me to cave in and take way less than it's worth.
So my wife may end up getting her way after all. Unless I want to cruise to Phoenix to get one. This same dealer in Tucson has a white '08 GTS Lancer in 5-speeds and Sun and Sound package available for me tomorrow if I want it. Trouble is that's the same dealer lowballing me on my Sportsman. They're getting the white Lancer from a Phoenix dealer. I've spent good money on that Sportage keeping it in optimum condition and won't take less than KBB dealer trade-in value for it. We're about $1,700 away from a deal right now as I type this.
iluv, only $500 bucks pal ? Dude you better get KBB on your Kia Sportage and they better give you more than $500 off. You better make them throw in a longer factory warranty at no charge also like a 6yr. 100K  I don't want to see you get hosed.
I just feel, if it were me,if I could wait ahile, I would wait until information was available, like maybe on Edmunds, to see what prices are being paid, Dealer's Invoice, etc...
In 99, we got a GLS V6 Sonata, w.o even knowing the Dealer's Invoice, Luckily for us, we got a salesman who literally had only 1 day left to work , and he sold us th ecar for 150 over dealer's invoice, they claimed(they did not even have the sticker on the window! Our 90 sentra was thsiclose to death, so we took it). When we left, we did see we saved 2,300 off MSRP, and did only pay 150 over dealer's invoice. That was luck. Unless I needed a vehicle now, I would wait, until ya get more info first, on prices, etc.. take care/not offense.
Iluv: why not go over to the "Real World Trade-In Values" forum and see what the Sportage is worth? I've been hearing KBB and Edmunds are a bit high at times.
you misunderstood my post, man. Wildcat Mitsu doesn't have the blue one in and is $1,700 short on amount they are willing to give me in trade on the Sportage. Like dtown says, though, I may be being a tad unrealistic, or KBB is, as to how much my Sportage 4x4 from 2001 is really worth. In other words, I am going to get 4.9% financing for 60 months, which is awesome. And that is from another Phoenix dealer but they are willing at Avondale to match. I feel good about this place from what I have gathered and they advertise the "we'll beat anyone's offer" deal. Warranty work(if needed)will be 209 miles away, though. Yikes. Oh well, I'll pick one of my days off and head NW 209 miles and go get 'er done, men! The $500 new college grad rebate is being offered at all Mitsu dealers, so I'll get that as well at Avondale.
Avondale Mitsubishi(west of Phoenix, 209 miles from us here in Willcox)has a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS in 5-speed form and it has the Sun and Sound Package. The amount I want for my Sportage 4x4 sounded good to them and so I'm heading off to test-drive right now.
I'll let y'all know what happens tonight when I get back to Willcox.
go test drive the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. I called Safeco Insurance and the monthly payments are pert-near equal to the '01 Sportage 4x4. I am ordering gap insurance on the Lancer GTS and they are only $9.60 for 6 months. Wow...I told the Safeco lady that I was expecting something more in the ballpark range of $10.00/month for that. She said gap insurance is way more expensive through your dealer.
Why does that not surprise me? Anyhow, we're leaving in about 10 minutes for Avondale, a suburb of Phoenix. It should take me roughly 3 hours to get there.
why would you Have To drive 209 miles for Service/Warranty work? We got our 01 Tiburon in Columbus, Ohio... over 100 miles one way. I never returned for any service. I went to Dayton area, which is around 1/2 the distance. The Dayton dealership serviced the car , and the Tiburon had a warranty issue( wheel bearing issue @ 99,303 miles)) they fixed it, too, for free, despite the fact I did not buy it from them. They were not willing to deal back in 2001, so we went to Columbus! I told them that( the salesman asked me why did we not buy form him, and I said: 1) they paid off my 200sx, and then some, which you guys wouldn't do, and 2) they sold this car for less money than you did, 3) financing was less than youu offered.... that was the last time I was bothered by him. I still go there now , for our 04 Sonata).
Please share your thoughts and opinions on the new Lancer. I'm sure there are many who would be anxiuous to see how it stacks up. IMO, I think the profile is elegant, stylish and subtly unique. More Acura TSX than Honda Civic. I'll be quite curious how it drives and its mileage.
22 city, 29 hwy. CVT(2008 regs), 21-29 manual. http://auto-review.org/?p=21 Also, says not on sale until April. Guess some places have some, otherwise iluv would not be 209 miles from home looking. Not being nasty, but probably stick with our tC(160HP, 32-34MPG with automatic,, 0-60 in 8.2 seconds). A little over 17K loaded like we like 'em!
take care/not offense
PS: I am still curious as to how iluv's test drive goes, etc..
Well even though it's not my cup of tea I do like cars and you iluv, so I'll be waiting for your full report.
Rocky
P.S.
iluv, how big are you pal. Height and Weight if you don't mind shairing. I just want to know if a guy my size could even think about fitting comfortably in a EVO-X. :confuse:
I'm back! My wife and I absolutely loved the '08 Lancer GTS we test drove and we bought it!
Here's what we bought. It's a 2008 Rally Red Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with the automatic CVT tranny. It also has the Sun and Sound Package, which includes the automatic sunroof and Rockford Fosgate 650 watt stereo with 6-cd changer and MP3 capability. Well...when I got there I was greeted by the Sales Manager(I'm not supposed to mention his name so I won't).
He told me that the Rally Red GTS Lancer inside the showroom was the paddle shifter automatic.
"But so and so told me you guys were gonna let me test drive a Rally Red 5-speed with the Sun and Sound Package!"
I was fresh off the rush-hour Phoenix traffic and kind of tired from the drive(because I was so excited, too!).
"We...ummm...don't have a 5-speed Lancer GTS for the 2008 model year in stock yet."
"What...the guy on the phone told me you did!"
"I'll try and find you one."
Great. He'll try and find us one. That doesn't make me feel very good and I let the poor salespeople know it. But as time wore on my wife was slowly climbing on board this '08 Lancer GTS idea(I had been telling her all about it on the 209 mile ride from Willcox so I had her all primed...he-hee-hee...I was reeling her on in allright)we both started warming to the idea of getting the showroom car without the beloved 5-speed I wanted so bad.
Long story short...we test drove the paddle shifter(I made one last call to my sales guy in Tucson...the Electric Blue Lancer GTS w/5-speed tranny hadn't arrived yet "but was due any day")and we both are head over heels over this new baby of ours! What sealed the deal was my wife's enthusiasm for the Lancer GTS and the possibility of her learning how to drive on this car. She grew up in Chicago and took the bus or El-Train and got no support whatsoever from her parents save for a rather unenthusiastic push from her Dad back in the 70's. I may not be the one to teach her how to drive but guys, this car would be a great one to teach someone how to drive in. My son doesn't drive stick(he lives over in Everett, WA, so he's a good 1,650 miles NW of us here in SE Arizona. But he could drive this Lancer GTS if he comes down to visit us, which he will).
Here's what our car has: bluetooth, cruise control, 7 airbags including a driver's knee airbag, 4-wheel disc brakes the size of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, tire pressure monitoring system, a glorious whiplash control design for the front seats, micron air filter for the cabin, audio controls on the steering wheel, Rockford Fosgate 650 watt stereo with MP3, 6-cd changer and subwoofer in the trunk(!!) and a free 6-month subscription to Sirius radio(it's $12.95/mo. after that if you want to have the service continued...we may go for that), keyless entry, alarm system, a little tray at the fuel fill area that catches slop from the fuel pump as you're pulling away from your car...I've never heard of this technology before but this Lancer GTS has it. Oh, don't forget the wonderful sunroof which opens and shuts with the touch of a button. It has an information button on the dash wihich gives you average miles per gallon and also how many miles you have left in the gas tank! That is awesome technolgy. I averaged 23.7 mpg on the way back from Phoenix to Willcox. Not so great but I just put it in 'D' and drove...I didn't paddle shift on the freeway drive on I-10 home. Oh, I'll be paddle shifting till my hearts content all over here but was tired after the negotiating session and the whole car buying experience to use the paddle shifters. BTW-the CVT works like a champ...you have 6 gears + and 6 gears back to 1. You just put the gearshift inwards towards you and then paddle shift with the aluminum paddles on the sides of the great leather-wrapped steering wheel. The automatic stick shifter on the floor also is leather-wrapped. It's actually put together very tight and works great. It's gonna be fun. I wanted my 5-speed but to get a Lancer GTS built for both my wife and I I bought the paddle shifter CVT off their showroom floor. The dash controls also tell you the outside temperature, engine temperature, what paddle shift gear you're in and whether you're in 'P' for Park, 'D' for drive, etc. You can charge up your cell phone from the middle storage area. Oh, BTW, I like the armrest and my wife and I aren't smacking elbows together like we did in our Sportage 4x4!
Guys...this is a major victory for me. Those of you who have followed my quest for a new rig the past year or so(it's gone from a Scion xA to a Scion tC to a Suzuki SX4(y'all know how I flipped over that car!)to a Kia Optima to a Chevrolet Malibu to the new '08 Lancer GTS. What has made it a major victory and not just another new car purchase is the fact that I have my wife on-board with me completely! She loves the car!
We're so excited. I am one of the first people in Arizona to buy one of these. I was the first one to buy one from Avondale Mitsubishi(about 9 miles west of Phoenix), I know that for sure. But little hints I'm picking up from salespeople all over Arizona makes me think I got the first one(or one of the first few '08 Lancer's sold in Arizona).
There is decent backseat room for passengers but I sat back there and there wasn't a lot of headroom, to be honest with you. But the seating position was comfortable and there was decent legroom available. The front bucket seats have dual adjustment knobs on the side and the seats moved forward easily and I found a comfortable sitting angle without much effort. Also, the seats are well-bolstered wrapping all around you to make taking turns go well.
On acceleration the engine gives a bit of grumble..but it was a pleasant, throaty grumble and really doesn't make a loud noise a tall. Acceleration is pretty good...with the paddle shifter CVT I think 0-60 in 7.8 seconds is very achievable. Braking is sure-footed and well-fitted for this 4-door sedan.
I still have to call and activate my Sirius radio and I will do that now that I've found my code number. This will happen in the next few minutes after I post this.
Guys...I'm too excited to type any more...don't be afraid to ask me questions...you already know what a car nut I am so I'll be on here talking about this pup non-stop! This is the best car we've ever had...it looks beautiful inside and out and drives very well. Steering is solid and well-suited for both highway and inner city/urban driving. We both love the "feel for the road" and the sight out ahead you have when you drive. Sight vision is excellent and there aren't blind spots that make driving dangerous. This is one safe driving car, gentlemen.
Oh, the car does have P215/45R18 Dunlop's on as OEM tires. They ride great and the car doesn't shimmy-shudder over bumps...bumps are absorbed really well by this car's suspension system.
They say the paddle shifters are merely "Pause points, to make you think you're doing something"(something like this, is what the link/article states, about 1/2 way down... it does show a Red Lancer...) Anyhow..... Edmunds review says the paddle shifter holds spots on the CVT. I dunno. Anyone here, more mechanical in knowledge than I, care to explain which is correct(Edmunds usually is)? Anyhow... sounds good.
Look forward to your Long Term Ownership comments on this vehicle. We will most likely go for "old person/High MPG"(read: hybrid) cars in a few years, due to driving nearly 40,000 miles per year, and gas does not seem to be 1.50 a gallon any more, in the past 2+ years.
Anyhow..... cool ya got something. Thought about the new SX4 sedan(almost Elantra sized in length)....coming outin the Fall, but it is still "only"(most likely, sinc eonly FWD) low -mid 30's mpg... but not enough in today's- nearly- 3 dollars per gallon, 125 miles per day of driving, for us) Anyhow.... have fun. TC/NO
the 3-year service plan that gives you tire rotations, oil changes and tune-ups fully paid for 3 years. Also we activated the alarm system.
We get our '08 Lancer GTS' paint job coated with a protective coating every 6 months for 3 years to keep it looking sharp. That didn't cost anything extra. By all means I will take advantage of that.
"the 3-year service plan that gives you tire rotations, oil changes and tune-ups fully paid for 3 years". ---------------------------------------------------------- So, can you say drive, I dunno, like us, get 35-40K miles per year( say 100K+ in 3 years), and they will pay for ANY tune-up, no matter what the cost would normally be? So.... How much, then, does this plan cost?
we got this agreement which includes activating the car's alarm system and the first 3 years of service(tune-ups, oil changes, and 50% of tire rotation costs) for $15.00 more added to our car payment. We asked if they could just activate the car alarm without signing up for this plan and they said no. It makes sense for us to do it, after all, what good is our car's alarm system for us if it's not hooked up? And the service agreement for 3 years is a good deal. I would have gotten all of the Lancer's service done religiously anyway but this will make it even easier.
And yes, harrychezt, if I understand this service plan right you don't have a mileage limit on the plan, just a 3-year span of time it's good for. So, it would be an even better deal if you put a lot of miles on your car. I know I will be changing the Lancer's air filter every 8,000-10,000 miles because we live in a blowing dust type of an area.
The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer has iridium-tipped spark plugs for longer life and Mitsu's variable valve timing on the up cycle of the cam and the downward turn of the cam to maximize engine efficiency and minimize pollution. It also has a timing chain instead of a timing belt so there's not as much maintenance required in that area as well.
I've called Sirius and they've sent a signal to my car to start up our Sirius radio subscription so I'm gonna head outside to play with it for a while. Talk with you later.
Not bad. Not bad at all. Look forward to future reports. I do plan on a test drive, maybe of the mid-level model, out of curiosity( I think in the past 2 years, I have driven , at least, 14 new vehicles). TC/NO
I'm going to wait for the GTS to come into my local dealership. They just got in one base model car and I really wasn't interested in driving that one. I did sit in it though, and it's quite roomy and the interior definitely doesn't look cheap. The car was a lot larger than I expected....or looked a lot larger...
The Galant Ralliart has a GREAT cash deal on a lease--the dealer will throw $5,000 up front into a lease deal---gotta love it!
How was the thing on the highway? Cabin noise, steering weight, stability? My little Subaru Impreza that I bought last month is a great little car but I've nicknamed her "The little wanderer" because she tends to get blown around easily by even the slightest crosswind. Any signs of that with the Lancer?
I hear Mitsu is going to offer AWD on even the non-EVO Lancer models in the future as well as a wagon and hopefuly a coupe. It'll make for an interesting comparo wih the upcoming 08' Impreza when the time comes.
Just came back from the auto show. After hearing y'all gush about the new Lancer I was hoping to get a good look at one. Alas, I was disappointed.
They had two Eclipse's and a Raliart Galant. Both cars were nice but I was wondering where the rest of the line up was. Mitsu was off in the corner under the stairs. Even though I came back twice to look at the Galant and the Eclipse I never saw a company rep. There weren't even brochures.
The last auto show I attended in November was basically the same deal. No printed material, nobody to answer questions and in this case the car was locked so no sit down.
I'm really a fan of the Eclipse and I might like the Lancer (if I ever see one) but if this is Mitsu being reborn, I think it was a stillbirth.
By the way, my wife has changed my color preference from red to blue. Very persuasive, that one.
2019 Kia Soul+, 2015 Mustang GT, 2013 Ford F-150, 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible
Same for the Columbus Ohio show a few weekends ago, no Lancer. They had the 07, but not the new one. I had been expecting it, since they are being delivered this month.
handled the winds very well heading back to Willcox, AZ, from Phoenix. I just talked to one of the sales managers from Avondale Mitsubishi and inquired of him where my alarm activation guy was at. I don't think the alarm guy was too thrilled at having to drive the 209 miles to Willcox from Phoenix! Oh well...I paid for it now's I gets it!
The Lancer GTS plowed through heavy winds on the way home on I-10 with gusto. Sight out the front and back is really good. My wife keeps saying "I can learn to drive with this car." She loves it...I kept talking about the car on the way up to Phoenix..praising it over and over...now she knows what I was jibber-jabbing about so much.
I really like that we get the re-application of clearcoat-type protectant every 6 months. I baby all of my rigs but this one's gonna be parked away from everyone in parking lots...whenever possible.
That's one thing my wife keeps saying...visibility is great out the front..the car is built so that it sweeps way out towards the front from the dash...but you still get a large amount of windshield area to look out from...narrow A-pillars are designed in.
The '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS handles like a dream...I know I'm coming from a 2001 Kia Sportage 4x4(!!)but this new pup invites you to scream into and around turns...bumps are muted even with the Dunlop tires.
BTW-the lady at Dunlop told me on my cell's voicemail that "as far as she knows we don't supply Mitsubishi with our tires." Right. The 18" performance tires run the 3,100 lb. 4-door sedan around with sure grip and wonderful bump-mutance.
The extra 56% of torsional toughness is very evident if you've driven past Lancer's to compare with. I rented a 2004 white Mitsubishi Lancer in the fall of '04 so that is when this Lancer idea got planted with me. The present Lancer handles way more sure-footed and smoother and "grippier" around turns.
Another nice feature is the 6 months of paid Sirius radio...I can get the weather station so far but when I go to tune in another station it displays "rock" or "pop" or "country." The tech. at Sirius says that means we've successfully been sent the signal from Sirius and that I just need to learn how to operate my Rockford Fosgate 650-watt 6-CD changer stereo! I need to study it's manual still. We just bought the car Wednesday.
Oh, BTW, you can get your '08 Mitsubishi Lancer serviced at any Mitsubishi dealer. We've already decided to go to Ideal Mitsubishi in Sierra Vista, AZ,(90 miles SW of us but it has great stores all around it including Hastings Book Store which has a great assortment of car magazines) for any needed warranty work or maintenance/service. All of our maintenance is covered for the first 3 years of Lancer ownership.

and for anyone's information my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS comes with Dunlop P215/45R18 tires installed. They are performance "tuner" type tires that are larger and wider than the ones you will find on your 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES or GL models. So far I love my Dunlop's.
Further on down the road I will start exploring my options for Dunlop tire replacement. No need to concern myself with tire stuff right now. We are covered with 5 years of roadside assistance for our Lancer GTS.
The protectant product put on the sedan for no extra charge is called 'Auto Butler'. I don't know much about it but I will be calling for that service to be done 6 months from now.
Wow, that is great news. I for one am really pulling for a MItsu comeback. Now if they would just expand the AWD line a la VR4 of the 80's and 90's they would really be on to something. And why the heck doesn't the Eclipse get the EVO drivetrain? :confuse: My gosh, those things would sell like gangbusters!
But kudos to Ford with the Fusion triplets making the rankings. They've got the good looks, decent performance, AWD avail. and it appears they have the quality as well to play with or even beat out the class leaders (No Camry! :surprise: ).
Well Mitsu seems to be taking it one model at a time. The Outlander got a big upgrade, the Endeavor went away---then the Lancer got the "juice" and one hopes the Eclipse, which is now very long in the tooth, will be significantly refreshed.
Slowly but surely Mitsubishi is shedding its Chrysler associations, which is a good thing IMO.
Endeavor is gone? Wow, hadn't heard about that one.
I agree with you on the separation from Chrysler thing. Not that I dislike Chrysler, just that I think Mitsu kinda lost their way during those periods.
about my '08 Lancer GTS is that it has disc brakes at all four points w/ABS and EBD...and, they are the same size that are on Mitsubishi's brand new Outlander for 2007. My GTS Lancer gets the 18" Dunlop's and Seattle Supersonic 10-spoke alloys and apparently Mitsu engineers felt that a lot of people would be racing their Lancer's around and not just driving them around(like I do...hee-hee)and would need and perhaps want the extra stopping power.
GTS with the motor running waiting for my wife to come out of the house. This 6-month subscription to Sirius radio thing was knawing at me. I decided to poke around with the Rockford Fosgate buttons and guess what?
I got it to work! It's fun to figure out things intuitively so you don't have to read your manual just to get a program started, huh?
After 6 months it's available to us for $12.95/month. Dunno if we'll go for that yet but in the meantime I have something like 134 more radio stations to toy with now! I'm still gonna break out the manual for the Lancer GTS and the Sirius satellite radio and learn more.
please post MPG, all stats such as hwy/city, combined. Edmunds is say 29 MPG(hwy) and IIRC, 21-24(?) city. I was sort of , kind of hoping for 32 hwy (at least).
yeah, I am just cruising around our tiny little town now after work to the store, etc., so the avg.mph and mpg is all over the map.
I'll be able to gauge it a lot better next time I fill up the tank. I'll note how many gallons I put in and then tally manually(and with the trip computer)how many miles I go and then divide the gallons pumped into that mileage number.
On the way home from Phoenix the mpg avg.was hovering around 24.0 mpg. I only have 287 miles on my Lancer right now. Tomorrow makes one week of ownership.
The Lancer GTS sure steers solid and straight and as the test drivers noted it tracks right on center very well. The OEM Dunlops and the Lancer's torsional toughness is evident when taking turns and when going over bumps. It's truly a joy to drive this car. I find that I use the paddle shifters about as often as I just put it in 'D' for drive and just drive in regular automatic. It's nice to have the option to do both.
Fooling around with my Sirius radio tonight I came upon the Martha Stewart channel, ESPN, Fox News, etc. along with many, many many music channels. The Rockford Fosgate CD player works without a hitch and the tuner finds lots of channels in AM and FM modes. I have yet to turn the RF stereo over 32 on the dial for volume yet, but I can tell you that this stereo rocks very nicely. The subwoofer in the trunk gets the small sedan thumpin' and a bumpin' and I can really see kids wanting this new Lancer and of course, the new EVO X coming in a year or so.
The sunroof opens and closes solid and sure and is a joy to have in sunny Arizona. There is no wind noise coming from the sunroof at all. The car's black cloth interior doesn't even start to look or feel cheap. This cars interior looks very good to me throughout and there are no rattles, squeaks, hisses or moans.
A salesman from a local Mitsu dealer didn't know I already bought one and saw one come off the truck. He went in to e-mail me and by the time he came back outside the car was sold! So we not only have them here in Arizona but they're selling well right off the bat. They should sell well right off the bat. For some reason my insurance is only $25 more per 6 months than my '01 Kia Sportage 4x4 insurance was. Same coverages only I added gap insurance($9.60 for 6 months..that's only about $1.60 a month...I was thinking maybe $10.00/month but it's not even near that).
So far we are both ecstatic with our '08 Lancer GTS purchase. BTW-the car is more impressive in person than on internet shots. Mitsubishi has styled this '08 Lancer body so that it appears stealthy and fast and bold.
ya gotta chance yer name to iluvmylancer now? Anyhow.... yeah, MPG, let us know. Would be appreciated to know what you're getting over the next few weeks, months, etc. We are most likely gonna get a new car soon, anywhere form 3-6 months(our tC. even with high miles, is only 2K difference between KBB and pay off, with nearly 80,000 in under 3 years :surprise: ). May get another tC( redo is coming next year, dunno if they will abandon the 3 door,FWD, or what) or get something more MPG-friendly( rumors have the new SX4 sedan at 9 seconds to 60, and 34hwy, 26 city...? I dunno... looks ok, sounds great priced and decent warranty). The Lancer is shap, though. This engine was rated 32 hwy for 07 regs, for Caliber( same platform and engine, IIRC) but 08 EPA says 29. Anyhow.... as our EPA says 29-30 for tC, and we get 32-34... your car may do the same, with a few miles on it? Hope So! tcno
Does your car have height adjustable seats? I read the ES(?) middle model does Not have these( and with $2K+ trade- in hit... we can't really afford the top model).
I know our Lancer GTS has adjusters for tilting the seats in front back and the whole seat can move up towards the dash and back(there are two adjustments on the side of the seat for adjusting the "tilt" of the seat). The seat tops are also designed to stop your head from whiplashing in the event of an accident. There's seven airbags in all.
I'm still learning about our Lancer GTS as we go...one more thing we are digging about our Lancer GTS is the window tinting. It is dark enough so you can't really see us in the car very well. I would think that Avondale Mitsubishi just west of Phoenix would follow Arizona laws on applying window tinting so they're probably OK as they are. My wife and I like how the window tinting is cutting down on bright sunny Arizona day glare coming in to the cabin.
My local paper had a review of the Lancer in the auto section. Looks nice from the front.
The review was generally favorable. One thing I don't understand is they often describe features of Mitsu products with terms such as: "No better than Camary" or "on a par with civic" as if to say Mitsu ain't so good. But when they review these other cars they say: "Civic is the class leader" or "Camary's exceptional reliability".
Well, if Mitsu is the equal of these others why the faint praise?

I have heard of people driving nearly 200 miles for a car.
lol.
take care/not offense.
I'll let you know. BTW-this blue one is coming in "any day now". So my salesman said they'd hold it for me. Getting KBB dollar for the Sportage is the current sticking point.

What's your wife getting her way after all ?
Does the boss want another type of vehicle ?

Why does that not surprise me? Anyhow, we're leaving in about 10 minutes for Avondale, a suburb of Phoenix. It should take me roughly 3 hours to get there.
I'll be reporting back tonight the latest.

2021 Kia Soul LX 6-speed stick
They say the paddle shifters are merely "Pause points, to make you think you're doing something"(something like this, is what the link/article states, about 1/2 way down... it does show a Red Lancer...)
Anyhow.....
Thought about the new SX4 sedan(almost Elantra sized in length)....coming outin the Fall, but it is still "only"(most likely, sinc eonly FWD) low -mid 30's mpg... but not enough in today's- nearly- 3 dollars per gallon, 125 miles per day of driving, for us)
Anyhow.... have fun.

We get our '08 Lancer GTS' paint job coated with a protective coating every 6 months for 3 years to keep it looking sharp. That didn't cost anything extra. By all means I will take advantage of that.

----------------------------------------------------------
So, can you say drive, I dunno, like us, get 35-40K miles per year( say 100K+ in 3 years), and they will pay for ANY tune-up, no matter what the cost would normally be?
So....
How much, then, does this plan cost?
TC/NO
And yes, harrychezt, if I understand this service plan right you don't have a mileage limit on the plan, just a 3-year span of time it's good for.

Look forward to future reports.
I do plan on a test drive, maybe of the mid-level model, out of curiosity( I think in the past 2 years, I have driven , at least, 14 new vehicles).

The Galant Ralliart has a GREAT cash deal on a lease--the dealer will throw $5,000 up front into a lease deal---gotta love it!
I hear Mitsu is going to offer AWD on even the non-EVO Lancer models in the future as well as a wagon and hopefuly a coupe. It'll make for an interesting comparo wih the upcoming 08' Impreza when the time comes.
But anyways, congrats on the new wheels. :shades:
I had been expecting it, since they are being delivered this month.
Later on, dudes.

Slowly but surely Mitsubishi is shedding its Chrysler associations, which is a good thing IMO.
I agree with you on the separation from Chrysler thing. Not that I dislike Chrysler, just that I think Mitsu kinda lost their way during those periods.
I think an AWD Lancer Ralliart wagon would be interesting, to compete with Subaru directly.

Edmunds is say 29 MPG(hwy) and IIRC, 21-24(?) city.
I was sort of , kind of hoping for 32 hwy (at least).
thanks.

2021 Kia Soul LX 6-speed stick
Anyhow.... yeah, MPG, let us know.
Hope So!

Thanks.
