I'm working on a deal for a 2023 Explorer ST and want to use the 1.9% APR financing for 74 months at $14.33 per month, per $1,000 financed.

The dealer states that he's unable to enter that financing into Ford Credit's system because it's really 72 months with a 90 day deferred payment. The "74 months" just reflects the 90-day deferment. Isn't 90 days the same as 3 months? If that was the case, why didn't they call it 75 months?

The dealer is going to try and get Ford Credit to approve the financing tomorrow, but they aren't optimistic.

Is the 90 Day Deferred Payment information shown by Edmunds at the link above, legitimate? Is there any other link or source to corroborate the information?

I did, however, find this in the information we use:

Ineligible Sales Type: L, R, P, J, 8, O, Z, F, W, V, U, 6 - Is it possible your dealer is trying to use one of these sales types and therefore the special financing program won't work?

(no, I have no idea what any of those codes mean)

Finance payments are made in arrears. So, your first payment is due in 30 days (unlike a lease). If the first payment is now due in 90 days, then that's actually a 60-day deferment.. 72 months + 60 days = 74 month term.
