Aaaaanyway. That's enough dead-horse beating for me.
The mileage on this trip was nearly 25 at 70-80 mph, so I don't suspect that the parking brake was applied, and I don't rest my left foot anywhere except the dead pedal. Has anyone else experienced this?
It has been mentioned that some turn off their VDC routinely in order to save on brakes. Is that necessary?
Honestly, I just thought it was my driving style (LOL)
I haven't really given it a thought, but it could very well be the VDC.
Dunno. :confuse:
If you drive hard for a while, you will notice a slight (nothing major) smell of worn pads or something.... similar to a clutch smell in a manual.
I have 12,000 miles now, so it certainly isn't any new engine coating cooking off.
The only time I noticed a distinct brake smell was after running my G35 at the race track. I wouldn't have attributed the smell to VDC even though I left it engaged most of my time on the track. I'll see if I can come up with a place to invoke some spirited driving without a lot of brakes required and see if I can smell the brakes.
P.S. I did eventually pass that Z06 :P
Was he re-fueling at the time?
I've never taken the G to a track day, but every morning that I'm alone and not transporting my kids to school... it's almost the same thing.
I've smelled this smell occasionally and always assumed it was brakes... although I only usually use them one... when I arrive at my destination! :shades:
Why would you smell brakes if you only used them once? :confuse:
[ Off Topic ]
Nah, the z06 blew a decreasing radius turn
Pre turn
Post turn
Check out my lead!
(The reality is the Z06 was BRAND new, still had paper plates on it and the driver wasn't interested in pushing it as hard as I was after blowing that one turn.)
Try making sure that your climate control is set to refresh the air, and that the A/C light is on.
Yes, it's winter, but the A/C helps to remove excess moisture from the cabin.
Snow Mode controls engine output to avoid wheel spin.
It has to be something else.... :confuse:
I've been in the computer industry for years, and everytime my engineers get stuck on a problem and can't figure it out, even though they're deep into the issue, I always tell them to go back and look at the SIMPLEST thing.....I've got to think the same principle applies here.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
Could it be linked to whther I have the traction control on or off?
Thanks
From the manual:
"To turn on the conventional (fixed speed) cruise control mode, push and hold the MAIN switch for longer than about 1.5 seconds."
The main switch in this case is the on/off button the steering wheel.

How did you not notice the wind noise in the test drive? :confuse:
Although admittedly if my struts were making noise I'd be upset, but I'd be at the stealership complaining too. That didn't work I'd be on the phone with Infiniti Consumer Affairs. So far though, my dealership (one of the few non-stealerships I've been too) has been nothing but professional and helpful.
Items that disable ICC:
Direct sunlight
Wipers on Lo or High(Intermittent is okay)
Snow Mode set to On
VDC set to Off
Items that will also disable ICC can be:
Speed drops below 20 MPH
Sensor becomes dirty
VDC senses wheel slip and engages
Engine coolant becomes too high
about 3 mornings ago I awoke to my car alarm going off at around 520am. I ran outside to look for a person, no one was there. I turned off alarm and as I walked back upstairs it sounded again. I moved the car to the garage and then the same thing continued to happen for about 30 more minutes. atleast 10 more alarms.
took it to dealer they said if they replaces battary in remote it might fix it.
next day same thing happened in the morning around 520. The Alarm sounded I ran outside... this time I started the car and let it run for a while. Alarm didn't sound again.
I went back to dealer and they said there could be a frequency in the area that is causing my panic button to sound. They replaced the keys and I guess reconfigured a new frequency.
This morning... again after getting the car fixed yesterday. Same thing happened at 5:24am. Alarm went off 1 time. I stood by the car outside for 15 minutes to see if it would go off again.. it did not.
I called the dealer they said they have never seen anything like this. Any input from anyone would be great.
I find it hard to believe that there could be a signal that made it through the first switch, i guess this is assuming they actually changed the frequency and didn't just switch out the keys.
Thanks.
It sounds like this car is having similar problem. It's having some kind of signal
interference with electronic product such as router, portable GPS/Navigation etc..
Good luck.
Beyond the gas cap problem, there has been nothing noteworthy to report. I have noticed a fair amount of water collecting around the trunk when it is washed or raining. I dry mine out frequently if it rains or the vehicle is washed.
Air bag warning indiator light stays on after start up (2005 G35 with 22,000 miles). Dealership replaces a circuit board when this happens but problem just reappears. This problem has been "fixed" 3 times already in last 18 months. Clearly there is a manufacturer's defect my dealership has failed to remedy. My wife is afraid to drive the car with electronic /air bag defects and dealship tells they will only do what the manufacturer (Infiniti) let's them. A 2nd dealship agreed to attempt fix number 4 while car is still under warranty.
PLEASE HELP ME -I I HAVE A :lemon:
The dealership replaced the cap with a new one. So far, so good.
I love this G35, awesome design, but failure again means hiring someone to represent my case before the manufacturer.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance and happy safe riding to all
The only thing I can point to as a possible cause is I've kept it in the garage all winter and it started happening the night I left it out in the driveway for the first time. It didn't get very cold or anything, so I'm not sure why that would matter. As a test, I left it in the garage tonight and, sure enough, the alarm went off at 10:30 PM, almost right on schedule for the previous nights.
I haven't called the dealer yet as I've been busy with work, but if you found a solution, please let me know.
My situation...I have two sections of the car where I have small paint chips (no dents). One side I suspect might be from my wife's rear driver-side door. She parks in the garage on the right side on my G35. She gets out of the car and then opens the back door to get her stuff out. She has always been careful when opening the door, and admits that the door does touch and rests against my passenger-side rear door, but she never has opened it hard and banged the doors together (I believe her, and as mentioned previously, there is no actual denting).
Then on my driver door, I open it and sometimes depending how close I parked, the door might open and rest against the rounded edge of my lawnmower handle. Again, no hard slamming and no dents. Unfortunately I have to assume these small paint chips were caused by this door just resting against the lawnmower handle. As I mentioned, the lawnmower handle is curved and rounded; not sharp edged or pointed.
Now I can easily see how one might say the chipping was my (and my wife's) own doing. But I am stumped, as have others that have encountered the chips, that this was so easily caused by the above-mentioned actions. It would seem to me that a good paint job would be able to protect and retain itself better than this.
One last point...I had the paint coated with that paint shield stuff, done by the dealership, when the car was bought brand new
Any comments? Suggestions?
Buy touch up paint and move the lawnmower.
Seriously though, I have not noticed any more paint chipping problems with the Infiniti compared to any other car.
If anyone responds to this please let me know. I'd like to do the same thing. I've been told it is VERY difficult to accomplish.
