FYI for those in LA -- I just bought an i4 e35 in zip 90067, with 11% off MSRP of $55k (rounded)... payment came out to around $530-540/mo including 9.5% tax, 0.0018 MF (~4.3% APR) and $8500 of rebates. 1% rule is back (for EVs)!

What's the 1% rule? And I'm in Sherman Oaks.. can you tell me which dealer? I've tried a couple and they don't want to go more than 1400 below wholesale so like 3k less than MSRP.

A very general rule of thumb is that a good lease payment is approximately 1% of the MSRP of the vehicle.

I looked in up and the 1% rule applies on the payment before fees and taxes. It looks like they got the car like 3k below the 1% rule which would be a really good deal.

Thanks alot! Yes the quote is for M50. They told me 0019(original MSRP) -.00042(reduced by MSD= .00148 new.

Am I better off with XDrive 40 with MSRP 73k and 15% off MSRP.

Thanks alot! Yes the quote is for M50. They told me 0019(original MSRP) -.00042(reduced by MSD= .00148 new.

Am I better off with XDrive 40 with MSRP 73k and 15% off MSRP.

Definitely M50 but monthly payments are higher by around $80 . M50 gets $12722 dealer discount vs xdrive40 $10400

Is there a formula to calculate how much of a difference MF makes in monthly payments? It seems only option is to ask the dealer to run the quote again, which they're not really fond of.

The .00040 markup is likely adding about $50/mo. to your payment.

I don't track pricing. Many BMWs try to markup the rate, no matter what. I think it's especially irritating that you are locking up 7 payments for the life of the lease, just to have the dealership take that advantage back from you.

That's really a great feedback. I should talk to them on MF and try to make them agree to the base rate without MSD may be and make it a true $0 down.
I don't see such hefty discount on e35/40 which I was initially looking for but when I found these ones with almost the double dealer discount in percentage terms , I changed my mind not sure if thats a good idea though.

They're telling me they can't bring down the MF below base MF and they need MSD to eliminate the mark up on MF. Strange but I think I will stick to them because I don't see that kind of dealer discount anywhere else.

I got this from a Los Angeles area dealer. i4 e40 Looks like a great discount at first but the numbers did not add up on the lease calculator until I raised the MF from 0.0015 to 0.0018 the difference ends up being the $2000 down payment. I am asking for the same deal with the 0.0015 MF but they are saying no. Is that discount reasonable to ask for? Also the total tax and fees seem to add up to 2634.00 but lease Calculator estimates it at 3679.38 .

You'll never know what their cost is, nor should you be concerned. You want the lowest total lease cost you can get. I can't tell you how low they'll go.

Note that all the prices are under the heading of "purchase option" - not all of those numbers are valid for a lease, and some of the numbers that are necessary - like the acquisition fee - are missing.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and how they arrived at that number.

It's possible they are not giving you the top tier MF until they run your credit - even then, they are allowed to mark up the base MF by .00040 for extra profit. Could be a simple miscommunication.
