    In the course of 5 days we went from $2.63 to $2.61, up to $2.67, back to $2.61, up to $2.63, and back to $2.61

    Wonder where the big wheel stopped spinning this morning :P

    Sunoco at Longshore and Rising Sun Avenue:

    RUG = $2.62
    Plus = $2.72
    Ultra = $2.82

    A seven cent increase across the board! What happened?

    We are sort of living out of the van. And we're pretty close to a river. :D

    I was pretty close to Happy Valley the other day but we had to get back to Port Huron for a house and cat-sitting gig.

    Besides, Sneakers probably would have made me mow his acre.

    We keep going in circles (well, nothing new there). Back visiting in-laws in Michigan and gas went up here about a dime since we were here two weeks ago. Looks like I'll be paying over $3.00 a gallon for my next fill up.

    I saw gas mostly in the $2.7xs on the drive along I75.

    Here in Canton, the Shell station is on $2.869.
    This is between Ann Arbor and downtown Detroit.

    I'm a couple of blocks from Lake Superior in a little town with 3 or 4 gas stations. The cheapest place, where I filled up today, was $3.06 for regular.

    One place is $3.09 but advertises "no ethanol".

    I didn't have the stomach to note the price of premium and diesel. :P

    Amazing stretch of weather up here, and great fall colors.

    Small towns high priced gas. In our little town the Shell is cheapest at $3.05 for RUG. Same time as Costco 13 miles away is selling RUG for $2.81. Most every one up here drives a PU or SUV. So they know it is a two gallon trip to get cheaper gas.

    Steve, 3 cents more for pure gas is less than 1% more than you paid for E10. The worst improvement I've obtained using pure gas is 4% better fuel economy. The performance improvement is a bonus that I can't measure, but still enjoy.

    Unless the place was packed with a long line refueling boats on trailers on a saturday, that's where you should have refueled.

    I had to put E10 (yuck) in my boat yesterday only because there are no pure gas alternatives within 200 miles. At least it was Shell. But that means frequent fuel filter changes - about all I can do when using such poor quality fuel.

    Well, turns out I can get 5 to 10 cents off the other gas with grocery clippings. Got two coupons today for a total of a dime a gallon off (minimum 12 gallons), so that would knock the cost down to $2.96.

    And I'm not sure if there's ethanol in the other station's gas; need to check the pump next time.

    Just IM'd my friend up in Seward Alaska. He's paying $3.79 for RUG. He thinks it's $3.39 at the Anchorage Costco. So it could be worse. :shades:

    Up another 6 cents to $2.85 yesterday... I think the sun must have set AFTER it came up in the morning and that scared the commodity traders

    As already indicated, the gas prices have gone up significantly in just a short period of time. We are now hovering around $3 bucks a gallon for premium. I'm not a happy camper.

    87: $2.65
    89: $2.87
    93: $2.97

    Price across the board was $2.79 when we arrived Wed. Now most stations down to $2.75. They have two grades of RUG. One they call super unleaded. Usually 3 cents more per gallon. I am guessing that is without that nasty ethanol.

    gagrice, there's a Shell station at 320 Diamond Ave in Evansville listed on www.pure-gas.org as selling ethanol free fuel in 89 and 92 octane.

    Given a choice, that's all I'd use.

    We had bounced up to $2.89,now back to $2.87 this morning.

    Blame it on the upcoming election :P

    we jumped 25 cents 10 days ago. They said there was a Chicago area refinery shutdown to blame. we're back halfway to $2.72 today. $39 to fill it when it was 2.83. That was the most I paid for gas in a long time.

    Gasoline prices have jumped 24 cents in the last month! Sunoco Ultra was $2.77 a month ago at my local station and is now up to $3.01. Either the usual suspects, (oil speculators) are up to no good or we're experiencing some sharp inflation.

    Dollar has lost a bit of value in the past several weeks too.

    According to the Feds, there is no inflation right now, and they wouldn't lie, right? None of us buy food, gas, etc right? :shades:

    I filled at Shell in Henderson for $2.63 with 5% Shell card discount makes gas about $2.50. Right across the border in Indiana the price is about 12 cents more.

    Yeah, we're up a quarter as well after holding steady all summer. No refinery snafu in Chicago going on here... We have loads of refineries right here in NJ and they're working fine.

    Passed by the station today and it's fallen to $3.06 for regular. Diesel was $3.17.

    VA is always about .10 cheaper than MD - but the real advantage to buying gas in VA is the abundance of stations selling pure gas (www.pure-gas.org). All I have within 200 miles is this awful E10 garbage.

    Looking at your map for pure gas, there are no stations in the People's Socialist Republic of California. Yet we have to pay the most to get ethanol trucked into the state. When ever I leave the state my mileage goes up by at least 10%. So I know the ethanol additive is a total losing proposition for the CA consumer and environment.

    If I was sentenced to reside in CA, I believe that my head would explode. Its a real shame because there are such nice areas and climate. But don't feel too bad - MD is doing all it can to follow the CA example.

    I believe access to decent fuel is of such importance that its one factor in my (so far) unwritten analytical matrix of places to retire, with weighting factors for taxes, climate, hiking trails, kayak launch access, and public fishing & shellfishing opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and good fuel. So far, I like VA, NC & SC. I could probably survive without catching my own lobsters, but I have to at least harvest my own clams, mussels, oysters, crabs and fish.

    Because I can't get good fuel here in MD, I buy fuel filters in bulk for my boat and replace them often. I still had to replace a fuel pump - the diaphram of which was likely ruined by ethanol. And the cowards at EPA recently had the gall to approve a rise to E15 - disgusting.

    Feels like prices are going to move is SOME direction. Usually all the stations here are in lockstep (coincidence, I'm sure...cough, cough) but we're seeing $2.85, $2.87, and $2.89 right now

    I watched the price of gas go from $3.11 to $3.13 to $3.15 to $3.19 in two days! The jump from $3.13 to $3.19 happened over the course of one day! Ye gods!!! :mad:

    The Feds got a plan for US. Get everyone upset about flying, then when we are all on vacation in our cars they kick up the gas tax by a buck. To get home it costs enough to pay off the national debt. Better go eat some sugar cookies before PA bans them.

    To-days fuel prices, in $ (USD) per US Gal equiv, in my corner of the UK are :

    Unleaded Gas : 7.34

    ULSD : 7.53

    Of course, we're all multi-millionaires over here. Our country doesn't have a humungous debt and we haven't just loaned Ireland £7billion we don't have.

    Actually those are all lies - but the fuel prices are true.

    Ouch. That makes me feel a wee bit better about having to fill up both cars the last couple of days at $3.09 for regular here in the upper Midwest. Actually it was about $2.99 after using the grocery coupons.

    You got it backwards. You are supposed to spend Summer in the Northern states and winter in the South. We are starting early on a cooooold winter in So CA. In the 30s over night and around 50 at noon. We are now about 15 degrees below our normal for this time of year. That will probably mean BIG gas and propane bills. Gotta go split more wood.

    Your fuel prices are merely a dream to us guys. How do I get to live in the USA ? I believe your Immigration Service excludes the English on the grounds of fostering ethnic diversity. The phrase I've heard used is : "Don't even bother applying".

    I have a fuel receipt from yesterday in front of me. 1.389 Euro/l for gasoline, which comes to $7.05 USD/gallon...cheaper than the UK, and a better place to drive (Germany) too (less Orwell, more freedom)

    Oh how I love to see EU miracle economies failing...
